@ toothdecay: I think the argument you pose is by far covered in the text you believe in and I think you need to reread those text again. Live more like Daniel then Nimrod and wake up.
@Jackwagen: I respect your opinion whether we agree or not. I do not think a christian should represent themselves outside the principals it teaches and I do not speak of the verbatim reading but more on the scale of symbolism brought to a practical level to our times. To share, which is better than arguing meaningless points, I like reading in between the lines. To explain Daniel in the lions den is also representation of where he lived and the times of so many religions and people who wished him ill because of his successes (the lions). He was trapped there by contract for 70 years. a prisoner. Here is the difference, He lived his life and it showed what he believed. He did not argue about null points and meaningless religions. He just stuck to what he believed and never fail to cease from it. He did not go running around yelling and screaming arguments about you need god. As James points its justified in the works that are work through a person. So I hope you understand I am sorry that my God has been represented to you in this manner. It won't change what I believe and that won't change what you believe. As change comes from within to the outside not from the outside inward. For what it's worth, I am a 'faltering' christian who respects the rights of Israel to thrive, and i have many questions as i get older; such as god, and good vs evil, etc...Things are not so black-and -white as when i was a young buck, it seems...

Very interesting... It somehow seems that religion and the lack-thereof, can't be discussed without a certain degree of escalation to it... Ever.

Indeed nothing is black and white which makes me wonder how people can take such strong stances on cases like Israel Palestinian conflict...

Aussteigen: yes, i have a friend that you cannot talk about certain subjects cause it brings the devil out of him in conversation. Ie: religion, politics, and such. makes him mad to talk about it. so I stick with little things and we are great friends and get along. I guess it is because of the absolute opinions people make. Not that they are wrong, but they don't back down and realize we can agree to disagree. There is no fault in that.

Maclean: very grey area... That is why we should not judge. I think your right on my point. Pushing only pushes people away.
Also this is a theory that I liked and show the grey area. it goes: all things are neutral until you assign them a good or bad use, then they turn good or bad. So guns for example are neutral, use it for defense it can be good, but use it to kill Jackwagen (be a good sport now) and it now is murder and the object is bad. That neutral is the grey areas we so often see. Like the gun doesn't kill the person pulling the trigger does. Of course Ideas fall into this theory as well. Another example would be God created this or that, then it says he saw it was good. He assigned it good, but until that judgement it was only neutral.

However, there are some constants, your black and white, so don't forget most are variables, but some things are black and white.

Slightly off topic but still relivent anyone remember the origanal Star Trek show with the people fighting each other over black and wight one group of people were black on the left the others were black on the right. Just shows the stupidity of Man.

Actually though its not the object (in this case the gun) thats bad, its the use or misuse of it thats bad. Drunk people drive cars and crash into people and kill them, but the car isnt bad, its the misuse of the car by the drunk driver.
I rarely think there are 'grey' areas. The great majority of stuff is black and white. True, some people put more emphasis on certain things and therefore its more valuable to them, but that does not change the fact if something is right or wrong does it? Can you maybe give us an example to consider?

Serpent I do agree. I was only referencing one part of it that you don't think is important but it can be. energy bad or good can be transferred to it.
A simple your action is the method to transfer the curse on it since used in bad motive as with the gun.
the drunk driver situation more describes something that is neutral the intent was have good time and get home with out a hassle that ended in a fatality. in the murder situation a pure bad motive caused the transfer. the drunk driver is more like a very tragic trespass on another.

It the energy/motive that can create a void and something will fill the void. Idols and worshiping them may be false, in opinion, but it creates energy from a mass of people. something is going to fill it and if the evil rules the world, then for sure something evil will fill it..

I worry that evil has compromised us so much that it has removed all ability for us to stop and think about what we are doing. Evil has created a system that relies on action without the time to think about consequence of such action.

I like the analogy that everything is neutral until it has a action applied to it.

The key to doing good action is removing 99% of reaction that will be bad. This takes a lot of time to do any action. And in this system of distraction, desire and action we have no time to think before we act for the if we did the moment would pass us.

You have to give it to the Evil ones...they have nearly mastered the art of being Slave masters. Only thing that got in their way of true control was their underestimation of the will of the Good to seek out and expose the truths.

This might be why they are now talking about the internet being culled of all Web-sites that are deemed dead. But is that not like going into a library and saying burn that book because only a few have read it this year?

now nix that is not too far off of an idea. since many may mock it as paranoia. even 1984 (the book) shows a good example of this. Notice the cameras in america has doubled. public ones. the next thing US is going to do is bio metric scan you for a SSN card. face recognition + double the cameras again. its being done in europe too! found a video show how to do it from their government. instructional almost to the point of those you see on how to ride a ride at a theme park. They can find you anywhere, cell phone, a road camera, satellites, ect... is this what we want? I don't and nix you are very correct socialism is on the rise.

to give a US example all green card reknewals now include pictures of face and such and scanned in fingerprinting. then a special card with all that info on it is given to the green card holder. true story from someone it happened too. Its in the immigration law to do so.

Yes, there are some things that ARE black-and-white,; I didn't mean to imply that everything was gray, just that more things seem shades of gray now than they did when i was an idealistic young'un. I also find that I have a lower tolerance to bull$h!t than i used to. Gettin' ornery in my old age, i reckon...
