Detailed Description:
I think if you take over a neighbor country you should have the option to open the borders and make it one large nation rather than 2 separate countries. This would certainly help time consumption.

This is not realistic and never happened in the history of the real world. Countries in Simcountry are increasingly seen as assets and can be traded on the market. Many times the empire countries are not connected. Countries will remain separate and managing an empire, although a little simplified, will remain much more complex that the management of a single country.
