Detailed Description:
Currently in our common markets, our industries are still too greatly affected by the whims of the world market. What I speak of is the cycle of boom and bust within world market demand and how it affects corporations doing business within a common market. Prices within a common market should reflect the supply and demand of the world market but they should not be completely tied to it. Instead, prices for commodities should, in part, be determined by the supply and demand within the common market itself. Also, should the members of the common market wish to do so, they should be able to vote on whether or not to place protective tariffs on certain goods and services that would serve to raise the price of those goods and services within the common market, and thus protect struggling industries within that market. I propose that common market members should be able to place a protective tariff on goods and services that are produced within the common market when that particular commodity is in surplus on the world market. When that particular commodity is again in shortage on the world market, I propose that the tariff would automatically come to an end. I also propose that the money collected by the protective tariffs imposed on commodities should be evenly distributed as income among the members of the common market.
I believe that this would help protect industries when they are struggling, that it would help encourage presidents and CEO's to diversify their economies, that it would make the game more realistic and interesting. I for one am tired of avoiding the building of so many different types of corporations because of their lack of profit potential. James

We agree that more should be done about local and regional markets and more functionality should be added. We also think that transport and cost of transport should be in the equation and make trading more local. We plan to add such features but there are too many high priority items that will be added before we get to it.
