Please view and make enquiries.

We would like to warn everyone before you are buying assets that look better than they are.

You should be aware of the selling of population.

these empires are being damaged beyond repair by this massive selling of population and their economies will decline very quickly.

Make sure, before buying any asset from anyone, that the empire did not sell any of its population for a very long time.

Item 28 of the game news. Wednesday 2nd May 2012:

"28. Selling Countries [ top ]

When a country is sold, its history of population sales is forgotten. The remaining empire, if it has sold some of its population, will remain damaged, especially if the numbers sold are large.

Countries that have lost large numbers of their population have a damaged population model. When population is sold away, some age groups are depleted more than others and the remaining population is not balanced between the aged groups. The country will take a long time to recover and the population will decrease much more even if population sales stop. Buying such a country is not a good idea.

Countries that belong to an empire that has sold more than 5 millions of its population will not be traded until that damage is repaired. This will protect players from purchasing a heavily damaged country without knowing about it.

Selling population after the country is offered for sale will make the actual sale of the country impossible. Population numbers at the time of the sale of the country must be at about the same level they were when the country was offered for sale."

Thanks for the reminder.

The damaged population distribution is not easy to see for inexperienced players.
you really need to know what the normal distribution is.

However, we do indeed prevent such sales and the damage may be limited.
the message was placed because of the explicit offer of these countries while population is being offered.

i'm confused

lord lee saying differently to andy saying?

if the history is forgotten once sold, then why sill have a damaged model for the purchaser?

why have restrictions?
a buyer should be able to decide what to buy regardless, perhaps he just want the land area and not the population?

can the virtual asset package be inspect/view before the buyer pay the seller? if so then buyer know exactly what he/she is buying already. why babysitting adult decisions?

You can purchase any country that is offered for sale but players are protected against the purchase of countries with hidden problems.

This was done after some players were cheated and requested the protection.

andy,
i'm just saying that you two contradict each other's saying.

normal distribution of the population is good for a country, but to get normal distribution would require more micro managing, such as starting at births and deaths, education, health, etc.... are all those being able to be control by the country's owner? so far i think a country owner cannot control many variables of the country. if i could control certain variables in my country, i'm sure i can do a very good job, but like reality i cannot control some of them.

and if the buyer can inspect the product before buying, then it should be up to the buyer's decision. there should be no hidden items of the country for sale, just make a requirement of full disclosure for the sale of the product? allow players to conquer countries and empty whatever they want, leave the conquered country with nothing if they want? gm can always re-born that country again?

as that saying, "one person's trash is another person's treasure"

You can influence your population growth to a limit by improving the health system.
I don't think you should be able to tell your population to multiply quickly.

you can see the population in a country that is offered for sale and despite it, there was a need to watch over it.
You need to look at the population distribution and do some computations of birth rates etc. to be able to see what is "normal". This is not needed at all in most countries and nobody does it.

Only when you purchase a country and you do not know if they have sold population before, this becomes an issue.

This is one of the reasons we are phasing population sales out. Countries should not be damaged in this way and the whole issue should disappear.

This brings me to the wider issue of selling countries and corporations which is under developed. The reason here too is the difficulty in making sure that the seller is not selling you an asset that is damaged in some hidden way or changed after it was offered for sale.
A solution will be developed. It requires more programming that will remove any possibility for the offering party to touch the asset after it was offered.

in some earth countries, the government do pay money for new born. last few years were $10,000 per baby.

this concept of buying population to increase your country's population?
don't make sense to me

from the documentation, i thought the virtual asset key suppose to operate like opening a box. everything package into the box is for sale, once the buyer has the key then he/she can open the box and take ownership of its contents. i thought the simple solution is to make the box transparent, and once is closed and offer on the market, nothing should change until the key holder change it or the seller take it off the market?

Xiong, I think that what they are saying, is that if you look into the box, can you really say what you are seeing?

A diamond looks great to the naked eye. But when you put a jeweler's loupe on you can see the occlusions and other imperfections.

If you aren't trained to notice that, no matter how transparent the box, or the tools you have on hand, you probably won't notice.

Then when you go to get the gem cut, you get the bad news. Or heaven forbid, you shatter it yourself.

@marshal,
so what we need to keep everyone on their toes is professional assessors who can do the proper due diligence?

and i do think that should be how the gm/owner of the game earns his/her real money, by being the brokering party to the players. who else who know the intricacies of the products being offer than the gm/owner of the game?

this i hope would keep all players honest, so no one is cheating anyone else.

buyer know exactly what he/she paid for, and seller know that the virtual box cannot be just smokes and mirrors.

Huh? Where is convo going?

What you just said about assessors etc is exactly what the GM are doing isn't it? Kind of like a monopolies commission come trading standards bureau.

Anyway, @David. hows it going selling of your things?
