Un-purchased Airport Appearance

Quick inquiry about random airport purchase and appearance.

My country on Kebir Blue, The Lothbrok Republic, has randomly purchased (automatically, without me doing it) at least 12 new airports in the past three game months. Currently I only have, and have only ever had, three air transport corporations in my country. Thus, while I know those corporations come with one airport each, I am not sure why the additional 9 have been purchased. The three airports I already had are nowhere to be found, and those are the ones that came with my air transport corps. game-years ago.

There are no airport purchase-orders in my trade page. There hasn't been in any of these past three months when the airports are being purchased, either. It appears to be happening entirely on its own and with no way to prevent/cancel/reverse it.

1) Is anyone else experiencing this?
2) Is there something I am missing when it comes to why and how these airports are purchased?
3) Is there an associated cost to these airports? My "general cost of government" has skyrocketed since these airports are purchased, so is it safe to presume that these airports are the reason the government cost is increasing?

The only automatic building of an airport is linked to the building of an air transport corporation.

there is no other function in Simcountry that will build an airport.

airports employ people, pay salaries and use materials.

close the airports if you do not want them.

make sure that there are indeed no air transport corporations in the country.

While I appreciate your reply, I am not sure where the miscommunication is. My original post directly answered the three points you brought up.

1) My country, The Lothbrok Republic, only has 3 air transportation corporations. But I have 12 airports. So there is a real discrepancy between the number of air transportation corporations and the number of airports. The 12 airports can be seen on my country map, and the list of my corporations specifically includes only 3 air transportation corporations.

2) As noted above, there 9 airports are not linked to a corporation. I cannot find a place to "close" an airport that is not linked to an air transportation corporation. If you meant "sell," instead of "close," that is impossible to do because there is no "airport" product select in the "trade" page. There is no way to delete them, sell them, or "close" them from what I have found.

3) Thank you for mentioning that airports employ people and use materials. I will make sure to note that. But if that is the case, I would love to know the number of citizens that a total of 9 extra airports employs. Is there a way to find that out?

you have 9 military airports.

do you also 12 civilian airports?
how did you count them?

Found them on the map details.
you have 11 civilian airports.

don't know where they come from.

No worries at all! If nothing can be done I fully understand. I am rather certain it was a mistake I made somewhere along the way, so even just knowing how I can prevent it in the future would be a major help. I thank you for looking into it, truly!

Maybe you can tell us more about what happened.
creating a corporation and canceling it?
corporation might disappear and the airport remains?

we would like to understan what happened so we can prevent repetitions.

if not, we might end with very large numbers of unwanted airports that cost money and workers and do nothing.

We will check the code for cases when a corporations disappears, (many possibilities for that), and the fate of the airporats in all such cases.

The creating, then cancelling, an air transport corporation request seems very possible.

Roughly one or two weeks ago (real-time) I attempted to build air transportation corporations but then cancelled the orders after a couple of days (real-time) of them not being built. They just remained in the "under construction" queue. At the time I had the production plants available, just the corporations never appeared. So I cancelled the orders for the air transport corporations and instead altered the production-lines of three corporations I already had built and had been using to produce other products. The corporations successfully shifted production one month (game-month) later from their original production to air transportation and the airports appeared on my map soon after.

At the time I just thought I did something wrong with my initial orders of the air transportation corporations. With this being many days ago (real time) I did not connect the dots between the two things, but it seems totally plausible.

I am just not sure as to why the 3 airports appeared for the production-altered corporations then (days ago, real-time) but the additional airports appeared yesterday.

one is the closing of corporations.

but especially shifting production to a different product probably left orphan airports around.

I will try to find out if we can recognise these orphan airports and removed them.

Thank you for looking into it and finding those answers! Your input helps me in learning about the game, and especially moving forward.

Also, no worries on the airports and removing them. Based on my rough calculations, which is definitely prone to error given some of the math, the airports do not appear to be employing many people (if any). Between the actual production plant workers noted on each individual corporation page that I tallied, and the government workers in all sectors, my total number of workers are accounted for. Possibly meaning that most of the airports are just aesthetic additions on the map now? Im not sure on that part.
