Country Welfare/Population Issue (Fearless Blue)

My population

Andy is this right? I've added pop a few times this week. My welfare is dropping and my population is. Its like I am throwing coins in the toilet. Can you check and see if this is user related so I can figure how to fix it?

The Total pop is under 60M and more like 53Mish this last week, so I don't know why it is dropping this fast.

In the country I posted its terrible because under 60, I shouldn't be losing like that. You lost around 38,000 in about 18 months With about double the population.

My country lost around the same with half your total pop. Comparatively I'm losing %200 of your loss when we measure loss vs, total pop.

On the other hand, my FB main is +100 Million at 106M atm.

So be glad your your main pop loss doesn't look like This and losing 900K per game year!

Social secuirty? 80? 90? 100?
Welfare? 100? 110? 120?

There has gotta be something that's gone wrong somewhere... otherwise i can only think of one thing, my first comment... lol

Sunny, do you make worker exchanges throughout your empire. That was at one point affecting welfare and I thought it was typed on the forum somewhere that it would stop. That is the only thing I can imagine happening that could explain what is happening on FB.

None of my welfare gets close to 90

In my main "Queen Of Battle" which has never ever sold any pop, my welfare is a stunning 78.63

In fact I had that country from c3 level all the way up to 106 million now.

Business and Trade Index 100<--- Strange because I have many high quality contracts directly made and executed to my country. I summed high Quality contracts would raise this number.

Is my defense index holding down the welfare index?

Business index is linked closely to welfare, and I think your SS and Health indexes are holding it back.

I'm guessing also that your country has low wages which would also be a massive drag.

SS should be on 90% = 124 ss.

I don't actually exchange workers, but i DO change workers within my country. Not sure how exactly that would affect it.

No SS doesn't need to be that high. Workers will begin to stop filling corps at that rate.

My corp salaries are 300 - 400 and my gov are 100-150

Even if the correlation is off according to the traditional wisdom, I use the lower number for gov salaries because it drops your monthly costs.

Those numbers are above 100 and more than 20 points than my welfare index. I am certain that much isn't holding down my welfare. If it were, the minimum welfare I have should be 82 at the current SS number

@David, I'll take that into consideration. This brings me back to the original question from A WHILE BACK. "ARE THE BENEFITS OF RAISING THE WELFARE INDEX "worth it" in terms of corporate output and increased profitability?

Quick answer is probably not. This would explain why w3c is so vague about the welfare index, what the formula is, what effects it, and how much will it affect your country, population, corporations, and so on. These questions need be answered.

Another Question is the welfare index calculated like the overall education index? Meaning is the lowest number of all the factors used to calculate the index, the default number.

For example if I have...

a 120 schools index
a 200 high schools index
a 240 university index

my default and true index will be at the low end of 120.

If welfare is calculated this way, then my end should be in the 82 range which is the low end of my SS index. If it is not calculated in this way, we need to know how the index is compiled and how each micro factor affects the overall number and then all this brainstorming would become much, much easier.

I was told that having high education levels with huge populations and not enough high tech jobs will cause a mass exodus from your country as the higher educated people will search elsewhere for higher tech jobs. Could this be happening to you all?

I had a similar problem in one of my countries that I had from "new"

Profits and indexes were all fairly consistant until both my welfare and population growth started to fall. The population was only around 55M at the time, so a population decline did not kick in, this was a noticeable reduction in growth that occured at the same time as the welfare index dropped from a steady 130 to approx 110, taking only 12-15 months to do so.

I tried several solutions including altering settings for wages, social security, country supply quality to name just 3.

I found that increasing my health index from the 115-120 range that had served so well to around 130-135 had the greatest positive effect on this specific problem. I have now got back to 130 welfare index and can start on repairing the economic damage that I caused by altering anything and everything to find a solution.

Current Index values I try to attain:-
Education 200 (from 210)
Transportation 150
Health 135 (from 115)

I don't know if this is the same issue as you are experiencing but the indexes/settings you use do sound similar to those I had set up, so this may be worth a shot.

I wonder if we can get a reduction on how slowly the health index adjusts to reflect the actual ratio of hospitals vs needed. The weighted index is overweight and it takes too long for the index to catch up.

Yeah, I agree with that. I've overshot with indexes more than once.

Also the speed at which bought population shows up as workers need reducing too. Its so annoying when the population you aquire shows in the total population, but no change in available workers until the following month.

I took a quick look at Queen of Battle and health is definitely too low.

You get a good idea of what's going by looking at the 0-4 age group and the death rate. Your death rate for this group is very high. This has a knock on impact on WI. Your WI is rising slowly but higher health and SS would help.

I also notice that your supply index hasn't gone higher than 80 recently, this also has a knock on effect by the population not getting what they want. Unlike the past, we can't leave the population languishing without supplies.

3 key reccommendations:

Health to 130-150 minimum
SS to 102 minimum
Supply index to 100 consistently

I think in my opinion with you're issue is you're health index. I have checked you're country on LU and you're death numbers are rising due to health index. Try increasing more hospitals and bring down you're death rate much lower if you can. Just remember, it cost money to run these things. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Yeah David, what is up with the supply index. The minimum is supply quality is 120 and along with that I have a a bunch of high quality country consumption contracts. So what gives there?

I think you're missing the point here Psycho Honey. This is about you're health index issue about the death rate in you're country. This has no effect in the quality supply index.

Wendy, supply index is at 100% if your country is getting all the stuff it needs/orders. If its orders go un-filled the supply index drops 10% for each outstanding product. Its got nothing to do with the quality or anything. Like DW says, less than 100 will effect welfare but I havent noticed it making a big difference anywhere. I've had 80 for ages in some countries, damn light tank and light arty ammo.
