What are the pros & cons of selling SimCountry to a software engineering firm?

since i don't know what software engineering firms do i can't make an intelligent response to your question. but for some time i've thought that they were in a defensive mode to get SC in a condition to sell to someone. but who wants to buy a Socialistic game that used to have a lot of snap and excitement, that is now dull and lifeless.

Either the company wouldn't make substantial changes and people would still be pissed, or they would make substantial changes and people would miss the old game and be pissed.

YEAH! If you dont like it,you can always LEAVE! BUT somepeople dont why?
The makers are trying hard and they do listen to different points of view and if its possible and worthwhile changes will happen in simcountry, BUT there's one change thats happened recently here in simcountry and thats the war levels, people or most of them arn't happy why? they say they cant play as they used too.
People ought to remember when simC first started most of the things then, its come along way and still people want even more, sometimes not for the better, pro's and cons of selling Simcountry, The pro's of selling SC HEY JOZZI makes a little profit.
The cons of selling SC, some monkey org gets it cheap from there point of view and they aint got a clue, what US THE PLAYERS WANT AND THEY FRAK IT UP EVEN MORE

The game is far from perfect but it has captured a sizeable chunk of my recreation time....and will continue to do so.

I hope the makers of this game ignore this thread.

LOL! You think that if we all think they should sell that they will? We're only sending them a message.

I ask you, who is proving that they don't have a clue?

See here:

1. If I get invaded on WG from LU my enemy can produce 200% what I can with the same assets.

2. A new player can NOT choose his/her world or country. I was dumped on WG. Anyone not dumped on LU gets screwed.

3. This new information isn't offered up until you buy in, get dumped on a world, and get to the forum to ask to find out,(good thing I knew to ask) by that time I had invested in two enterprises and sold coin to fund them. A brand new player will invest months of his time and THEN become aware that he's getting screwed.
-that's cold

4. To now be able to play on only one world and not be at a severe disadvantage I will have to repurchase my first country when almost everyone else got to CHOOSE theirs for free. The 2 enterprises on WG are no good for LU, that's another 60gc. I also have to live with the faster time which I didn't want to, I'm busy!

YEAH! Something's wrong!

They must be assuming we all want to make this game into WORK and manage 5 planets? So what? I would have ended up on LU anyway? ...um no.

I am frustrated because this was adressed by me to the GM in email and on the forum many months ago when they first announced the expansion and it was ignored/passed over.

So, okay, is this the picture of someone in charge who has a clue? (I gave them a clue and they don't have one!)

ANYTHING is better than this crap! What are you worried about? Even if new owners are as you discribe that only means it's business as usual.

They're good for that, hence my frustration. The fact that I emailed my concerns makes it worse.

I really think they should sell. I think it would be best for everyone. Either that or they find their way... somehow.

A software engineering firm is a 'game company'. Electronic Arts is a software engineering firm.

No one would buy it.

I can't think of any reason why someone who had the money to would want to buy an old, outdated game with few subscribers. Can you?

Better to just make their own game.

I know, it's down right sad, isn't it?

Then they need to hire software engineers or at least submit themselves to someone who can call the right shots. Maybe they're too emotionally tied to SC.

We need to get them counseling!

Okay so what do I do? Demand gold and threaten to murder one sim every hour until my demands are met?

Would that be one sim every LU hour or WG hour? Will you need twice as much gold for LU sims?

LMAO!

(dude I can't afford LU they want 120gc to purchase a country)

sigh...

I can't believe how much worse it got... They're retarded... It won't sell... I'm out of options. I'm left with recommending full frontal

LOBOTOMY
(sorry)

Too retarded for me...

Solomon if you have 50 coins I can give you a country for free. I'll put it on the CM and Place 50 coins worth of cash in it for you. Maybe a few other goodies to set you off on a good start. Sound good?

Just because they don't see things at your own light, it doesn't make them retarded. Although I'm yet to know at which light they see things.

And no, this is not a productive conversation. I have already looked into what happened to Simcountry's competitors. It should suffice to say they sold their games only to buy them back or have them closed.

From what I could tell it's still 30GC to register a new country on a new world. I didn't go all the way through the process, but I don't feel like adding another item to the plate right now. At the moment, 3 is enough.

Laguna, I agree completely, it's not the fact that they don't see things in my own light that makes them retarded.

I see productivity here. If you don't think SC is at risk of being down to a skeleton crew of codependent members in 5 years you're fooling yourself. These problems are part of the cause, or they're the symptoms, either way they need to be brought to light. As a leader in this community I challenge YOU to do more in these matters.

This topic gets much attention simply because of the subject matter.

Now, I knew you, Laguna, would have a stroke upon seeing the topic, but it's harmless. At what point did the GMs stop being in control? None of us can MAKE them sell.

Wendy :)

Wendy, Wendy, Wendy... You know what? I'm going to hang out because of you. I was going to leave but when I find someone who genuinely puts others before themselves I take notice. So, yes, please do hook me up with a country :)

I guess beyond all the mire and muck it's not "the game" that's important but who we're playing it with. That is if we can dumb ourselves down enough to... (shut up Solomon)

If you have a country in a world, you can peacefully extend it into an empire.

Find a free country (Computer Controlled) in that world.
Browse to the home page of that country and use the Purchase link. The cost is 140 Gold Coins.

You can also conquer a free country but they do fight back.
New players: war against a free country is easier<!-/Quote-!>

It friggin went up! I won't say it... I won't... even though we all know it is!

Putting it metaphorically:

It might be an interesting show to watch a WWE pro wrestler beat on a circus midget, until it just gets THAT pathetic. "Two finger bodyslam! Yeah! Oh wait... that poor little midget."
