To W3C: Level 8, Developmental Index??? (White Giant)

Could you please ad the Developmental Index to the game, or remove it from the requirements to exceed level 7?

I have attained level 7 and since I have no clue what the Developmental Index is, I can't say what I would score in it. However All I need for level 8 is a few points on my FI and I am there.

If you want to keep players here you should really fix this. With out a goal what is the point?

You could always start a war.

It works for me.

I sympathise MoP.

It's the levels game that has kept me interested in SimCountry throughout the three years I have been playing. I'm at level 6 now and have been working on level 7 for over 6 months ... trying to balance Defence and Finance so I can still have a strong empire while going for levels.

WGC stated that they were planning to implement the development index way back when I started playing, but I think the problem is that it has never been a priority. So few players ever get to level 7, and I don't know of any that didn't drop back down again after getting the GC award. W3C would probably rather spend their limited development time improving an aspect of the game that everyone can enjoy

Having said that, W3C introduced the Salary Level and Net Cash elements of the level requirements not that long ago, so just removing the development index shouldn't be too difficult and that's all it would take to open up the higher levels.

If you want to wait until I get to level 7, we could both email the GMs together and ask nicely ...

Quaxocal maintained lv 7 for many RL months. However, that was when manually contracting supplies worked for boosting quality. Nevertheless, people have achieved lv7 without using that.

Jo, are you using MIBs or Radar planes to get your D index up? Also, what are you running salaries at?

EDIT:

Jo, I just looked at your salaries. Looks like you're running 600? You can drop your gov salaries to 500 without and problems. Should give you a boost in FI. Maybe even 450.

W3C stated to me several times that you can run gov salaries at 51% of corp without having problems, as long as you have enough workers; however, I start getting small problems when I go below 75%. Your worker info says you are running gov to match your corp.

If you lower your salaries overall, you can use radar planes - if you aren't already, and you will save money because they don't have monthly ammo cost like MIBs do; however, they require slightly more staff so it's better with lower salaries in order to not offset the advantage of no ammo.

You can always try tanking a single corp to 30 salaries in order to drop you avg. salaries, and let your gov go lower too.

Thanks Wild

I am running a combo of MIBs and Radar Planes but on your advice I might switch towards Radar Planes and try lowering govt. salaries.

Radar planes yield ten times the DI points that MIBs do, per unit, but take 15 times the workers. I hadn't really factored in the ammo cost, but I can see it might make the difference ...

I was trying 600 salary to see if it was a better wages / tax balance, but I'll try dropping it and playing a bit.

Thanks for the advice /me hugs Wildeyes

So the GMs opening up the higher levels is even more important if I'm going to get to level 7 soon ...

LOL!
You almost make it sound as if we our lives were meaningless playing game this before Game Levels.

Before the Game Levels... we played hide and seek and tick-tack-toe. We were a simple people. We needed little but ourselves and orgies to make us happy. Fact is, most of the active players of that time were prolific writers - and still are, making a name for themselves out there nowadays.

Quaxocal wasn't lvl 7 for "many months", because he didn't play that long. Leen and Rob on the other hand...

You can try e-mailing and point this out to them (again), but I doubt that will happen. The Development Index wasn't thought with the Game Levels in mind. It was intended to remove and replace something (What was it?...) and add (show, represent, summarize) a couple of plains into Simcountry (Pollution and Post-Industrial stuff).
As those things aren't finished yet (in thought), that's why I doubt the development index won't be introduced any time soon. Don't ask me why they won't remove it or use the Welfare Index instead.

There are actually two economic problems the Game Levels, more accurately the Gold Coins awards, give place to - well, game wise; for W3C, maybe a couple more. But they will only become a worth-while-problem as the community grows... and I don't see any risk of that happening.

I can tell you what to do besides Lvl 8, MoP:
http://www.goriya.com/flash/tictactoe.shtml

Or:
Complain about it on your blog. You'll thank me later, if you do this one.

Although I beat the computer at Tictactoe by a nice margin. (/Me thinks that could use some levels as well). I think that your point was that Tictactoe was as futile as trying to get W3C to open up levels beyond level 7.

Am I right?

MoP, congratz on level 7, btw.

I meant you should not worry about things that are out of your control and use your frustration/time to do something productive or proactive.

Good job getting to level 7 MoP.

Attainable goals should be set for all levels.

Goals? I thought we were here to acquire sim-wealth through various dubious means.

There are lots of different goal to aim for, depending on how you most enjoy playing the game.

That's one of the things I love about it

I have started a vote on this subject.

I would greatly appreciate every ones support.
