Question for the Management (Little Upsilon)

My questions are about debt and how it relates to the lowering of game cash and prices across the board.

1.A circumstance of massive empire wide debt. The empire I speak of is on KB and is 186T in debt at the moment. How can this debt be repaid? Its not possible. In such circumstances shouldn't the President be forced in recievership? His offensive and strategic weapons sold and economy forced back into profitability?

2. Considering the amount of debt why is the empire in question allowed to take new C3s and fight an offensive war of any kind. It serves no purpose other than to increase debt across the board.

3. I propose a two part solution....The President is advised of a debt ceiling. Once it is reached they can choose to enter structured bankruptcy which includes the sale of offensive and strategic weapons and economic changes...Or they can be derregged once debt reaches an empire wide ceiling.

I welcome your input and thank you for your time.

Not sure how accurate and upto date the info is,but.....

134. Bankruptcy Rules [ top ]
New member countries are bankrupted when their debt is at 30 T for empire members and 60 T for empire leaders. In practice, new members are never bankrupted. It is hard to create such debt within the initial playing period.

Full member countries, that are non-leader part of an empire, are bankrupted if net cash (cash less debt) is -50T or worse. Messages are shown on login when the total goes under -30 T. Warnings will keep coming up to 5 times, one message following each login.

Messages are sent to the empire leader, each game month, when the total goes under -30 T. If no action is taken to correct the situation, the country will bankrupt.

Full member leader countries, are bankrupted if net cash is -100T or worse Messages are shown on login when the total goes under -60 T.

Messages are sent to the empire leader, each game month, when the total goes under -60 T. If no action is taken to correct the situation, the country will bankrupt.

All countries bankrupt without further notice if net cash (cash less loans) is under -140 T.

When a country is bankrupted all its loans and cash are transferred to the empire leader.

The levels are too high and no provisions to prevent offensive war are in place. ..Its only fair to the rest of us that this be done.

The empire in question has 22 C3s and a main...

So if each C3 has 50T in debt and the main has 100T....

Thats an upper level of 1.2 quadrillion total debt?

How is that helping anyone.

However its not sporting to expect others to share your debt.

Silence asshat.

Back to the question at hand.

We need a cap for empire debt to remove the halfwits who cannot create a balanced economy.

23 countries+186T in debt= EPIC FAIL.

When do we pull the trigger on this W3C?

This should not be about one player. The games rules should be established so that we can make strategic decisions. Any strategy that works is good strategy and therefore good gaming. Cheating includes things like setting up multiple accounts. Using debt or firing a nuclear missile is not cheating. It is normal for people on the receiving end of good strategy to be irate and/or frustrated.

This is in the war section of the documentation:

"77. Financial consequences of winning a war [ top ]

If the country that has lost the war had net cash, the net cash remains in the country and the winner receives the country with all the cash it has.

If the country that has lost the war had net debt (net cash < 0), the winning country does not inherit that debt. Instead, the debt is transferred to the main country in the empire of the country that has lost the war.

The reason for this choice is that some empires had countries make large profits at the expense of another country in the empire pushing it into very high debt and then had that country be conquered by a temporarily created second account to get rid of the debt. Now, debt remains in the empire and presidents must take care of all their countries."

The way I read that you should be able to destroy all of Nix's countries and stick him with all the debt. Of course the guide has been wrong before. The post from Blue Serpent quotes the game news from February 2008. I'm quoting chapter 5 of the current documentation.

In a recent Simcountry chat someone claimed you get up to $10T of debt from a conquered country. I forgot source and have no evidence.

If someone would take one of the 22 countries and clear things up that would be appreciated. Please record all your debts and the target empire's debts before finishing the war. Thanx.

no war is waged for no gain.

waging wars for "ideological" reasons is reserved for the insane - irrational, who are without a doubt in tiny minority.

leaving real world parallels aside, personally i dunno any game, online or otherwise, where winning a war would result in loss. i guess its because if it was like that, it would discourage waging them, which is not what players generally want.

also i dunno any game, online or otherwise, where an ant could significantly damage an elephant. i guess its because if it was like that, those who put in effort, time, skill or in this game money into becoming elephants would get pissed by ants who put in fraction of the mentioned, which is yet again not what players generally want.

i could continue but since its of no use and Freud was satisfied, i will leave it at this.

It's funny you use the example of ants and elephants. Real world elephants are consumed by swarms of ants. Waking up with four pounds of ants would be much more alarming than waking up with a four pound elephant.

A game where success was guaranteed would not be much fun. A war game that takes months to set up and then doesn't have a way of fighting back would also be lame.

In Simcountry you can often capture most of your opponents defense. So splitting the debt would leave you ahead in many cases.

If you read the forum you find lots of people willing to wage wars for ideology.

Jason. Explain to Booboo what state my countries were in before you lot attacked me.

Booboo. If you had'nt have gone into war protection I would have mashed you up. I also have Crafty on the ropes. Unfortunatly he's sent me a message saying that his computer keeps going off and he can't fight :(

Sir Smokes. Thanks for the advise. But I'm here to fight.

Booboo. Grow up and get over it.

I captured 5 or 6 Nix countries with a total of -22T in debt. After dumping them I was left with 11T in debt which I repayed.

If you fight a war and take the country you will assume 50 percent of the debt.

Nix you were in debt before you started acting out on the forums. Perhaps the whole situation was created so you could escape your mounting debt from your poor economic skills.

Pope? Is that you Sam AKA Johana?

You wish. Your as bad as Booboo. My empire on KB almost paid the monthly fee for 3 worlds and 2 enterprises. It was also in a position to advance to level 7 once I had increased the defense level. My LU/WG and GR countries paid for the other 2 worlds and my other enterprise.
Nix on KB = Swag. Thats what you said. Not my fault you could'nt take it before it went into debt. Please, grow some balls and stop doing a Booboo.

Lies!

You were already 20T in debt with a level 1 C3 empire.

Your economy sucks.

Your defenses suck.

Your wars of agression are FAIL.

I seriously doubt you could fight your way out of a wet paper bag you silly wanker.

Surrender now or be bankrupted. The choice is yours.
