500 Years Old (Little Upsilon)

Wow, my main on LU is 500 years old!

I remember back in the old days.....

I want anyone who has been around as long as I have to relive the days gone by in SC by adding comments, good or bad, about what we had or didnt have back in the day and how SC is different now.

A lot of players have gone that were here when I came that made the game twice as interesting as it is now.

Revive LDI, and find Stuart. My only two suggestions.

lol, stuart, its better to let sleeping dogs lie.

here is an interesting fact

Pink Floyd, known as samer at the time, first made his presence known on the forums screaming about helping some guy who was getting pummeled with nukes. I never let him forget that.

This was within the first three months of LU I believe.

How are you presiden ??? :DDDDDDD

I'll tell you the single most important thing this game is missing from the old days: the complete, undeleted forums.

When I started playing, the forums went back years before me to the very beginning of the game. Now old posts are deleted.

Using keyword searches, it was like reading the encyclopedia of Simcountry. But there was so much rich history there too.

Those very old posts were from the days when online games were new. It was like reading the adventures of those who had discovered a different society.

There were defunct feds with glorious names, players who were cast as epic heroes, tales of amazing battles. There were in-game political ideologies and advertisements from mercernaries. If you searched enough, you even could learn lovely tricks and surprise tactics.

When I was a confused noob, I spent countless happy hours reading very old posts, feeling like I had found an ancient treasure trove. Often reading was more fun than playing.

It's a shame that the vast majority of forum posts have been trashed.

Vicious, if my memory is working. I think LG has Archived the old forum posts before they were deleted from this forum. At least some of them. I think the last deleting took place right after I started playing. Someone raised this very same issue, and LG gave a link to older forum posts. Maybe just ask him.

The treasure trove survived? Thanks! I'll look into that.

i've only been here 421 years on KB. my most memorable time was when LG and someone else took out a nest of Nazi's. it lit up the Southern hemisphere for weeks. i think Lg must of skinned them and made lampshades out of their tattoed little skinheads.

426 here..:D but congrats keto, you're offically up for LU AARP services which include...

senior citizen discount on soybeans?

<3 <3 Jess

Iv been here for 40 Games years on FB.

Thats pretty cool huh

640 years. Third soul to set foot on LU, after Willard and Ronald.

Everything looks the same to me. Expect we have city maps now.

City Maps FTW

Sorry, I get an overwheling urge to comment on any city map references. I guess it just makes me feel better about myself. :P

Laguna, do calendars start at the year the world started or at a future century?

I remember attacking a Fortification with 6,000 SF units long, long ago.

All worlds began in the year 2010.

That sounds like a really big and stupid lie, Scarlet.

lol nice link
