Quetzalcoatl God of War (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 01:55 am I cannot log on to chat. Odd. Java and Flash are updated and I have no real reason found why I cannot enter chat....Any suggestions? |
Xaldin (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 01:58 am Is it giving you a message or just hanging at a particular point? |
Quetzalcoatl God of War (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 03:18 am Will not connect to server. Gives me the maintenence message. |
Xaldin (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 03:21 am Hm I had that happen to me while back, rebooted and the issue went away. I'm not sure if that really was the fix for it or just got lucky. Never did track down the why behind it. |
Quetzalcoatl God of War (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 03:23 am It has been a several day issue. I am running Vista/IE usually but it will not work on Firefox either which is odd. |
Xaldin (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 03:29 am I use firefox with it fine. Ela had the problem but it turned out to be our proxy server causing the main issue. |
Dominator198 (Fearless Blue) | Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 09:57 pm i have the same problem, my connection has failed two days in a row. but its always worked fine with the same internet server why is the connection failing now? |
Quetzalcoatl God of War (Golden Rainbow) | Thursday, June 5, 2008 - 01:22 am Tom hates us. |
Dominator198 (Fearless Blue) | Thursday, June 5, 2008 - 02:08 am lol, is it because of me and my past debt problems ? |
Dominator198 (Fearless Blue) | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 - 02:41 am day 7 of no chat connection. has anyone located the source of the problem? |
AlfredTheGreat1900 | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 - 04:27 pm i have the same problem i have tried firefox aswell as ie, no joy any ideas would be gratefully recieved . Dom i've been blocked for like 2 months it really makes the game less fun |
Dominator198 (Fearless Blue) | Wednesday, June 11, 2008 - 11:12 pm i use safari but its always worked until recently, can someone get in touch with w3 to see what the problem is? |
Quetzalcoatl God of War (Kebir Blue) | Sunday, June 15, 2008 - 02:09 am Still no chat....I have reinstalled Flash and Java. Java reports working and works on other sites. Perhaps the new block has some thing to do with it? |
Phatz (White Giant) | Sunday, June 15, 2008 - 06:55 am Try clearing your cookies, browser cache and/or temporary internet files. |
Kevin Henry | Sunday, June 15, 2008 - 03:21 pm That didn't do anything for me. Are you saying that you have access to the chatroom? |
Phatz (White Giant) | Sunday, June 15, 2008 - 10:42 pm Yes, I do have access and so do others (7 are on right now). It does come up as a "pop-up" where it used to open in another tab, but that is a browser setting. Try allowing pop-ups for SC. I use Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer on different PCs with np. Clearing the cache/temp files and cookies usually works when I've had issues with SC sites in the past. |
Quetzalcoatl God of War | Sunday, June 15, 2008 - 10:56 pm No good. Wont work on IE or Firefox. I have never had any troubles before. Recently it stopped being able to connect to the server. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java and Flash. Checked for any changes to my browser settings and contacted my ISP. The only issue remains with W3C. |
Dominator198 (Fearless Blue) | Monday, June 16, 2008 - 01:07 am i dunno how to install stuff, but i havent have problems with it before recently either |
Phatz (White Giant) | Monday, June 16, 2008 - 07:17 am Sam, the error message you posted above has to do with Java in general. The Firefox error part referred to a Java script error call from some websites, supposedly FF has an update fix. The rest of the error code showed a faulty Java script call in the web site code. There are 2 locations to start up SC Chat I know of, one at the country login and one "in game" under Communications, they start up differently for me, so you might try using a different one than the one you're using. I have experienced faulty links in SC sometimes. |
John Fire (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, June 19, 2008 - 07:52 am For me, Chat only starts up in IE6 not FF. |
sfo Treasurer (White Giant) | Thursday, June 19, 2008 - 03:17 pm I believe Phatz is correct. Many people are getting errors due to script settings in their internet settings. |
Quetzalcoatl God of War (Little Upsilon) | Friday, June 20, 2008 - 04:31 am All script settings are enabled. I have made no changes to my internet settings before or after the chat issue. |
Phatz (White Giant) | Friday, June 20, 2008 - 08:10 am Browser updates are notorious for changing previous settings. Sam, I believe I saw that your IE7 "security settings" were medium-high which is the default, try lowering them to medium or lower. You also might turn off "Pop-up blocker" and see if that helps. And Vista is of the devil, try running FF or IE as "administrator" instead of "user-mode", right click the icon to launch as... I think you're using Norton and it has it's own set of firewall and internet security settings to look at, Norton's bloatware has become more trouble than it's worth. |
sfo Treasurer (White Giant) | Friday, June 20, 2008 - 03:07 pm I hate Norton and Macafee....Got rid of them both. They use up too much processor speed. I use Windows Live OneCare. And I'm vista as well and log in under administrator. |
FarmerBob (Little Upsilon) | Sunday, June 22, 2008 - 05:21 am Thanks for the great tips Phatz and Treasurer. Thank god for competentent people like you sharing your knowledge with us computer impaired geezers. Maybe now I can get the chat feature working. |
Barney Rubble (Fearless Blue) | Friday, June 27, 2008 - 09:02 am I still cant get in on my lap top or my PC. IE and FF both fail. Where are we with this? Can the developers comment in the news with some official suggestions so the players can get the most out of the game we are paying for? |
Phatz (White Giant) | Saturday, June 28, 2008 - 02:39 am There is a couple of good FREE anti-virus programs for home users. AVG Free and Avast both have completely free versions of fully functional anti-virus programs for download. |
Quetzalcoatl God of War (Little Upsilon) | Saturday, June 28, 2008 - 05:47 am I have reloaded Flash and Java again. Still no effect on logging in to chat. I have set security settings for trusted sites on the lowest setting possible. No effect. It is not an issue with my firewall as I use the same firewall as before. |
sfo Treasurer (White Giant) | Thursday, July 3, 2008 - 12:15 am Now I can't log into chat. |
Dominator198 (Fearless Blue) | Tuesday, July 8, 2008 - 02:56 am its been 1 month and 5 days since my chat problems started, its obvious that w3 isnt gunna fix the problem sometime soon |
Maxwell | Saturday, August 9, 2008 - 06:40 am I too am no longer able to log into chat... Why? |
nix001 (Fearless Blue) | Sunday, August 10, 2008 - 02:15 am Its because the thingimejit is'nt pluged into the wasamacallit, meaning all you have to do is press the button that takes you to whereveritis, change the setting to whateveritis, re log on and hepresto you can get back into whateveritwas. Simple when you know how. |
BroadKast (Little Upsilon) | Sunday, August 24, 2008 - 02:21 am I've only been a player here a week or so, but same here, have never successfully connected to chat. The aggravation of this is somewhat enhanced by the fact that it opens in a popup every time I log in. Gotta love broken stuff that stays broken but forces itself on you anyway. |
sfo Treasurer (Golden Rainbow) | Sunday, August 24, 2008 - 03:28 am Everyone logs into IRC chat anyways nowadays. SC chat is dead. |
Maxwell (Little Upsilon) | Friday, September 19, 2008 - 10:19 am I actually feel very disconnected without the Sc chat it was one of the reasons I joined SC I met a few of the players right away and felt a connection quite frankly I miss it. IRC chat IMO is just not the same. |
John R | Friday, September 19, 2008 - 12:21 pm Yeah, its better. ;0 If only tnnbot was working... |
anouk | Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 12:42 am Hello, I have the seem problem here, i get an error from ie saying it cant authorize.... |
Jonni Gil (Kebir Blue) | Sunday, October 26, 2008 - 06:00 pm We are working on the problems in the new chat function. the authorization problem should already be fixed. Jonni Gil W3C |
