Lord Mndz | Sunday, June 4, 2023 - 09:41 pm Hi, i have 1000 in The Milky Way and buying more doesn't change it, is it a bug or intended this way |
Andy | Wednesday, June 7, 2023 - 09:50 am Indeed. we set limits to prevent our economic model from running away, or in other words, to prevent impossible situations. In general, these limits prevented major errors and helped us to avoid errors. In the past years, such errors are few and far apart. We do get some warnings that do result in corrections. In this case, we assumed that the number of wind farms will remain much smaller. there is no need for a limit of 1000. we will raise it in the next upgrade. |
Josias Jorvick | Wednesday, June 7, 2023 - 01:28 pm can i piggy back something onto this? we need a way to reduce the number in a country. |
Andy | Thursday, June 8, 2023 - 10:00 am I know. and we need an energy page to show the consumption and production of electric power in the country. I see no reason ever to close a wind farm as it is always profitable but as a matter of principle, it should be possible to close them. we will get to it ASAP. |
Josias Jorvick | Thursday, June 8, 2023 - 01:18 pm if ep ever goes permanently out of panic mode, i'd like to close some wind farms, and ep corps. i'd prefer to reduce the WT consumption, as is, it counts against your FI, and thats something i'd like to enjoy competing with, but i can't pass up the profit potential of WF and thanks |
Andy | Saturday, June 10, 2023 - 04:08 pm ep? WT? WF? Please explain what you mean and what is influencing your financial index. |
Lord Mndz | Friday, June 23, 2023 - 10:02 pm Hi, what is the new limit? |
Andy | Saturday, June 24, 2023 - 04:18 pm 5000. |
Lord Mndz | Sunday, June 25, 2023 - 08:00 am Cool, thats seems to be more than enough. Thanks |
Andy | Sunday, June 25, 2023 - 08:51 am Haha. I thought 1000 was more than enough. |
RoronoaDroagon | Sunday, October 1, 2023 - 02:44 am Andy EP = Energy Production WT = Wind Turbine WF = Wind Farms |
Andy | Tuesday, October 3, 2023 - 09:13 pm Our view on numbers is shifting. we have seen the effect os many wind farms and the need of these countries to purchase large numbers of wind turbines for the maintenance of the wind farms. we think that 1000 wind farms in a country is way too high. It should probably depend on the population of the country. if you have 1000 wind farms, you need 1000 wind turbines per game month. this is the entire production of 50 wind turbines corporations. the shortages of wind turbines are now such that there is no chance you can purchase them on the market. another problem is that if many countries could have 1000 wind farms, electric power might show huge oversupply and the price of electric power could decline and its profitability might be severely damaged. |
Eeeee OOOooo | Wednesday, October 4, 2023 - 01:13 am I have some questions and some reactions in response to this and recent updates as a whole. Limits on wind farms were raised and players were encouraged to buy a couple months ago. Are we now reversing course? There's been a huge push on wind farms and players have been buying as a result. I commented that it made sense to buy maximum in each country, and there was no pushback to that. Now it sounds like that's been bad and players shouldn't have been buying so much and it's breaking the game. How did we not see this coming? Based on an announcement made yesterday, players who can't supply themselves with wind turbines won't be able to maintain their wind farms and will sustain damage. I'm building many wind turbine corps, as are other players. Players who care enough to build many wind farms likely can care enough to supply themselves or pay the consequences (especially if we get more than a few days or a week notice). Can you let us try to work through wind turbine supply instead of deciding for us one day later? We already have the wind farms that we were encouraged to buy. There are already many countries with 1000 or more wind farms and there have been for some time. Many many months. What happens to them now that you look at what's happening with their countries? They've been there, farming the wind. It was clear that countries like this would have negative costs if the power value was subtracted from the government costs. I'm wondering why your view on numbers is just now shifting despite these countries being examples for some time. These should be the countries used as examples when planning updates, not countries with 10 or 20 wind farms that have significantly less impact on the ecosystem. Everyone plays differently, with different goals, ideas, scales, and strategies. Many players with large amounts of wind farms can tell you exactly what they think will happen with your changes if you just give them a heads up. They can tell you what impacts all of these things will have. Instead, changes get made, often unannounced, and it *feels like* the players are being left to diagnose what happened, tell you what's broken, and pick up the pieces. It's your game, but that's not the point. Maybe you are and were aware of these things, but again, I'm just sharing that wind farm changes *feel* muddled, confused, and reactionary when I don't think they need to be. Instead of having an idea of what to do and how to build countries, players are left lurching and reacting to massive changes in the idea and concept here. Now I find myself wishing I hadn't bought farms in *some* countries and there's not even a button to remove them. Last thought: Size of country impacting wind farm limit makes sense, but man, the idea is really late into the game. |
Andy | Wednesday, October 4, 2023 - 10:20 am We think that 1000 wind farms is far too many. we are not going to enforce anything but as I said before, they all need a wind turbine each game month (from day one) and I doubt they can manage it. what we are saying is, that if you have all these wind farms, you need to maintain them or they will stop functioning. This will not be enforced now but you need to make sure you have these wind farms. we will mention it with the following upgrades and on the forum and at some point, the function will kick in. we have offered to remove wind farms for players who think they have too many. |
Eeeee OOOooo | Wednesday, October 4, 2023 - 05:16 pm I appreciate your response to my somewhat frustrated post here. I understand what you're saying - it just is hard to see in this very thread a couple months ago that you moved the limit to 5000 and now you're saying 1000 is far too many. I'm wondering what changed in between that wasn't clear in June. Raising limits and promoting the profitability of wind farms encouraged players to purchase many farms, and now there's newly announced restrictions and new realizations that not only is 5000 too many, the old limit of 1000 is too many. The restrictions are fine, they just seem backwards and confused compared to what's been done before, which is my issue with them. I honestly believe that it could help to consult some veteran players about the scale and way changes get implemented. Ask us "how will players use these, and how will they abuse these?" Some of these course changes could be avoided earlier or altogether. I think it could help the quality and accuracy of some of your updates. I want all of your updates to be as successful as possible. I also understand and appreciate that you're willing to remove windfarms if you receive email. However, I don't think that's a sustainable or entirely reasonable way to manage this. We need a function within the game - sort of like deleting forts or bases. Do all players understand email is the current process? If someone registers today and buys wind farms and then wants to get rid of them, do they understand they need to email you? Thanks for your patience with messages like these. They come from a place of wanting the game to succeed. |
Andy | Friday, October 6, 2023 - 12:08 am We did make a U turn. we initially thought that 1000 is too many but at requests of players, increased the number. we have now come to realize that the problem is in the wind turbines. It will be a huge problem to get so many each month and we already started to see negative numbers. In face of these negative numbers we turned back to the initial idea of <1000. but no worries. we are not going to remove them. You can do many more but we have now in fact warned against it because of the looming maintenance problem. |
Andy | Friday, October 6, 2023 - 12:12 am A function to remove wind farms was promised and will be added. we have some things we want to do before. The function will not be used a lot. Temporarily, as long as this function is not available, we offered to do it for you if you want to reduce the numbers. |
