The Inventor | Saturday, November 6, 2021 - 05:35 pm I looked around to see if anyone else posted about this issue but didn't see anything. The issue I'm having is that when I go to create a military unit, such as a defense interceptor unit, the game won't let me put in the default unit configuration as it caps the number of interceptors to be below the standard amount. For example, I just tried to make a unit with the standard template (460 interceptors and 50 Defensive AA guns) but it says the max is 347 for both. I have the weapons and ammo necessary to make the unit so that's not the issue, and furthermore, if I go to update the unit after, it will let me put in the normal amount. So it's technically fixable as is, but very tedious to do and it delays the unit from being used quickly, so I'm wondering if this bug when creating the unit can be fixed. Is anyone else having this issue? |
neutralsc | Saturday, November 6, 2021 - 06:31 pm Yes I have this too.. If the GM had to give 1 GC for every 1 thousand in-game clicks, we could all play for free for many years to come. |
E O | Saturday, November 6, 2021 - 06:44 pm The game requires you to have a mix of weapons when you create the unit. There was information in the game news a while ago about this. It isn't my favorite update as that forces you to create bad units that you NEED to edit. Most of the time, the default weapons in a unit are very useless and the combination of the weapons in default units is extremely ineffective at almost everything compared to custom made units. However, once you create the unit, you can go back and edit it. This will allow you to do most of what you're trying to do - but yes, many, many, many, many, many, many unnecessary clicks. |
The Inventor | Saturday, November 6, 2021 - 09:58 pm Wow, that's a very odd update. If the point was to have a varied number of weapons, then at the very least, the default templates need to updated to reflect that point. I mean, I can't even create a special forces unit with the full two SF units because it caps it at one, and it's the ONLY weapon in the unit. So how is variety even possible there? I know the GM is very busy and often gets pressured to make this change or that change by impatient players, but this seems like the kind of update meant to steer game strategy in a direction none of the players were really looking for. Experienced players want the convenience of easily making units per their liking, and new players I imagine simply want the process to be as straightforward and understandable as possible so they can learn the game. Such an update accomplishes none of these things. |
E O | Sunday, November 7, 2021 - 12:23 am @The Inventor - I honestly disagree with none of what you've said. I encourage you to keep voicing your opinion. You're right the GMs are busy, but they do listen to player input. They may not use it all, but they do listen. More opinions can help them make better choices that players are happy with! |
Andy | Thursday, December 30, 2021 - 06:05 pm I am sorry for the late response. we will look into the issue. we do want to create mixed units but there should also be units with a single weapon type. there is an error there that is probably made when we tried to make that change. It is not the most simple piece of code but I will have someone look into it. Thank you E O. There is little time, many excellent idea, and it is difficult to make choices. also, some ideas are great but if it takes two weeks to code and test, the choice is between that idea and 5 others, also excellent, that can be done, all of them, in a shorter time period. I spend a lot of time trying to find ways to create the function we want without rewriting the game. |
