Kel | Thursday, April 30, 2015 - 07:05 am My country "Phoenix" on Fearless Blue has been in a war with Gaz country "A Fools Errand" for the past 4 days. After clearing through thousands of Special Forces units to be able to occupy and paint the tiny country I have come to the conclusion that there is not enough "paintable" sectors on the map. I sent an email to Gamemaster but I thought I should post here as well if I may get a quicker response. As of June 3, 3603 on FB world date, A Fools Errand has a War Index of 2.4. 5. Total 1 - 4 (now 90.00 DP, max. 90 DP) Damage Points: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4: 43.67 + 20.00 + 7.25 + 21.35 = 90.00 Available Damage Points: 90 - 90.00 0.00 6. Occupy Country: (now 7.60 DP, max. 25 DP) Damage Points per conquered area: 0.40 DP Number of areas conquered: 19 Max. areas to conquer: 44 The remaining points I need are in the Occupy Country section but I can not find enough paintable land/sea. Last Sunday I had the War Index down to 3.6 but I was foolish enough to think that the few remaining sections of land firmly hidden beneath hundreds (thousands?) more Special Forces Units would give me the remaining points I need. As of right now, the country is completely defenseless and there are no remaining ground units that are able to block my/allied units from painting more territory. -Kel- |
Aries | Thursday, April 30, 2015 - 07:08 am Confirmed. Tried moving units to all corners of the map. Can find no more than 19 sectors to paint. This does not give the minimum 10 points needed to end the war. |
Jock | Thursday, April 30, 2015 - 12:42 pm 10 out of 10 for effort boys. |
Jock | Thursday, April 30, 2015 - 12:48 pm I'm already sensing a clammering for rule changes and I havent even begun with you guys. Jock is Gaz btw |
NERO | Friday, May 1, 2015 - 07:18 am Countries lacking sufficient bars or "sectors" are nothing new. The GM at one point said they would neutralize these countries and not make them available. They didn't follow up.That was when full painting accounted for 30% of the WI. Painting now only removes a max 25% of the WI and therefore the GM has effectively created more of these countries. Gaz has simply recognized the advantage of having these types of countries. You have to give him Kudos for that. There are other players who play this way. |

Kel | Saturday, May 2, 2015 - 02:06 am Nero, are you implying that I am looking to paint enough to score easy paint points? That is not the problem. 25%.. I would be satisfied with the minimum 10%. The problem is that, out of 100 war index points required, only 90 of those can be damage related, and at least 10 points must come from painting. There is NOT ENOUGH paintable land to accumulate those minimum 10 points, therefore the country is not takeable. Not me, you, or Andy himself can get that war index to 0 with how few paintable sectors there are. There is something obviously wrong with that. No kudos given.. Small countries having a geographical advantage is common knowledge. I have a tiny country like that on GR, but it is a secured main. Despite that it is secured and will probably never go to war, I think all countries need to be beatable, including my own. |
NERO | Saturday, May 2, 2015 - 05:50 am I am not implying anything. I am saying that you should have known prior to the start of your war that this particular country could not be taken due to its lack of land mass. There have always been countries like this one that simply can't be taken. Gaz (Jock), apparently recognized this before the war began. Regarding the 30% to 25% reduction in paintable areas, the 5% reduction affects every country. For example,, lets say a country had a 14% paintable area when 30% was the max, the 5% reduction lowers the paintable area in this example to 9% and making it unbeatable. That is what I meant when I wrote "GM has effectively created more of these countries". You posted in the "Problem" topic section which I believe is generally used to report technical game issues. This is not a technical issue. This is the way the gm wants it. They know of these countries and have allowed them to exist. You yourself wrote in your response, "Small countries having a geographical advantage is common knowledge." Roving Eye has 2 of these unbeatable countries right here on FB. |
NERO | Saturday, May 2, 2015 - 06:02 am Just one more point. I agree with you Kel. Every country should be beatable. I complained to the GM about this type of country years ago and was told the world maps couldn't be be corrected. |
cl108 | Tuesday, May 5, 2015 - 12:42 am From what I've seen in the forum, the gm is trying to remove unbeatable countries if they can find them unowned. |
