Laguna | Saturday, February 9, 2013 - 07:26 pm If it matters, I was using the latest version of Google Chrome for this. Here is a bunch of space bugs and nuisances I found: 1. Products not being transported: production plants, cruise missile ships, and probably some more. 2. Whenever I click on a shuttle (name or location), the page opens invariably in the upper left corner, instead of the actual location of the shuttle. 3. Shuttles are loading some 200 spacecraft maintenance units every time they need go on a mission. That is far too many for what they really need. 4. These links in the space program page are pretty useless, since the products can't be bought in the world market: - Purchase Cargo Shuttles - Purchase Other Space Products 5. There's a surplus of space products in the world trade market (LU and probably others). These must be eliminated, so the price reverts back to the base price. 6. How are the shuttles chosen to transport products? Is it by distance? A shuttle with spacecraft maintenance units ought to take precedence over a closer one lacking maintenance. The closest shuttle with sufficient maintenance units should be chosen. 7. When a shuttle is on "auto-pilot" - completing a transport mission -, I can't change the flight plan? Looks like it. 8. Way too many useless windows open when I am setting up transport missions. Why do I need to see a country map when I already know the space station I'm selecting, and all other windows that pop-up during the process and just dilly dally in the background? 9. This brings me to my next bug: if I do happen to move the "New transport request" window to see what is behind it, when the cascade of useless windows pop-up, I'm blocked out of the whole Space Program window. A "stop" transit sign shows up and I can't click anything in there. I'm forced to close the window and repeat my steps all over again. There are probably many other small stuff, but I can't remember them now. Have fun correcting these! |
Josias | Saturday, February 9, 2013 - 08:03 pm #1 they've said large things can not be transported, like ships. only recently where we able to put them into the SC. which i thought was bizzar, with a conspiracy theory forming in the back of my head... that i will not say openly. but an interesting thing, when i noticed, i put some CMS into a SC, (i don't have many of those, i was just testing,) and tried to move them off planet. they just sat their, going no where. and ended up with a -117 or something volumn in the sc #3 originally, when they actually implemented SMUs, i wrote the GM about that very thing. or i was more concerned about loosing unused SMUs in expended shuttles. they reassured me, that that would not happen. and considering how much i transport, and how many SMUs and shuttles i have. i don't think the unused portion is lost. also, they increased the the space available for shuttles when they implemented SMUs, so that the SMUs wouldn't reduce the actual cargo load. and infact it ended up slightly increasing the avaible space on shuttles. so the only real problem i see, is if you don't have enough to cover your shuttles, and a few of them grab all of them... thats something i don't know how its handled. the rest of them... shrug |
Laguna | Saturday, February 9, 2013 - 08:09 pm 3. The problem is not cargo space, but allocation. |
Crafty | Saturday, February 9, 2013 - 08:37 pm Manually load them on the shuttle you want to use if the game hasnt. Simples. I dont quite understand what you say about shuttle allocation Laguna, you select the shuttle you want to use, it's not 'chosen' for you. |
Laguna | Saturday, February 9, 2013 - 09:14 pm I have 100 shuttles. If I want them to load with a reasonable amount of maintenance, instead of having the game shove it all into a couple of shuttles, I might as well make a script for it. Which, amusingly enough, was the reason to have the space game automated. The game chooses the shuttles for transport missions. The player has no say in that. |
Rick | Saturday, February 9, 2013 - 09:18 pm Believe he is referring to auto transport. I have had shuttles come in from across the solar system to participate in hauls when there were 25 shuttles on the planet that could have been used and most didn't participate. |
SweetPea | Saturday, February 9, 2013 - 11:24 pm Same here Rick. But I admit, I do like seeing a country or some planet popup when selecting the station because it reminds or confirms to me where I am taking from and sending to. |
Josias | Saturday, February 9, 2013 - 11:39 pm i agree with wendy, sometimes i forget what is what, and the country thing coming up in the background helps. |
Laguna | Saturday, February 9, 2013 - 11:58 pm Game hack #1: Name your space centre the same as your country. If the utility of that pop-up is to know (for sure) the country the space centre it is located in, then that information should be available before it is selected. Adding that information to the list of destinations makes far more sense and it is far more convenient. |
Rick | Sunday, February 10, 2013 - 12:01 am On another note, how come on the space screen I always seem to see shuttles of the same players? For example, I always see LG's shuttles, josias and a few other players. Never have I seen yours Wendy, or Craftys or others that I know are in space in a big way. Is the screen selective depending on what planet you started on or?????? |

SweetPea | Sunday, February 10, 2013 - 03:37 am I've noted the same issue Rick. It seems it does choose which shuttles you see, although you may not see mine because I have not moved anything in a while. I don't see a point in seeing them if they aren't moving. The list apparently has the same issue. I can pull up a bunch of Laguna's shuttles and some other random player shuttles but not others. I don't see the point in allowing so much information available to other presidents anyway. Why should they know what I am shuttling and why if I need radar planes to see garrisons and so forth. |
Rick | Sunday, February 10, 2013 - 05:21 am I would agree with that, no need to know what anyone is transporting. |
Crafty | Sunday, February 10, 2013 - 01:00 pm Heh, I didnt even know there was an automatic transport function in space. I have always controlled my shuttles manually. |
SweetPea | Sunday, February 10, 2013 - 03:42 pm That has to be a painstakingly terrible task Crafty. |
Laguna | Sunday, February 10, 2013 - 04:17 pm Funny. Gave it another go and: The game is actually choosing the shuttles based on the maintenance units. But it is giving priority to the ones with the least of them. |
Rick | Sunday, February 10, 2013 - 09:55 pm Crafty, All shuttles are 5 speed automatic with cruse control and collision avoidance systems. Where ya been! |
Crafty | Sunday, February 10, 2013 - 10:03 pm meh, for my limited use of space it has never bothered me doing it manually. Certainly no more clicks than popping 100 forts. And I do not like automatic cars, me, I like to be in control. |
Crafty | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 02:20 pm I did about 50 shuttle flights the automatic way last night and to be honest I didn't find it any easier than doing them manually. Manually, you have one shuttle, of your choice, open where you control its load, maybe two or more different products. The automatic way you have to send each product off seperately and rely on the game to allocate shuttle space the best way. Well I know the algorithm isnt doing that, because it is sending shuttles off before I have even entered all of what I want shipping. So who knows if there could have been a more efficient way? Too much automation creeping into this game...take the new automatic defense units for example... |
James the Fair | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 09:30 pm And I do not like automatic cars, me, I like to be in control. 'Crafty' So do I Crafty, manual cars are real cars as I love to do long distances in my car, 5th gear all the way, lol. |
Andy | Friday, February 15, 2013 - 12:33 pm We are looking at these issues. Thanks for the comments. |
