Travis Goeringer (Kebir Blue) | Wednesday, September 10, 2008 - 09:41 pm Now that they have fixed the HLW bug where they continuosly disappear, the MLW are now disappearing faster than they can be used. How are we supposed to be able to build new corporations if we can't keep MLW more than a month after we convert them? |
Kevin Henry (Kebir Blue) | Saturday, September 13, 2008 - 01:31 am There is no bug. Any current worker shortages are due to country mismanagement. |
Travis Goeringer (Kebir Blue) | Wednesday, September 17, 2008 - 05:56 pm Okay, since I'm "mismanaging" my country, what am I doing wrong? 120 health, 180 education, profits over 20B a month, defensive force 130, offensive 50. Not quite sure how those stats would kill off almost 30,000 MLW every month. I'm not the only one experiencing this either. |
Travis Goeringer | Thursday, September 18, 2008 - 01:41 am yeah, that's what I thought, no answer. It's funny how it's only the MLW that are disappearing, not any LLW, HLW, LL managers, ML managers, HL managers, teachers, etc. The list goes on. None of them are losing any amount of workers unless I use them or change them. |
Petra Arkanian (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, September 18, 2008 - 07:22 am Well, here's a thought: How about you check your employment/education screens and figure out your shortage/surplus situation? Odds are very high that you have overbuilt your corporations, but I can't tell unless I know your country name so I can look at it myself. And Kev is right. Worker shortages are due to country mismanagement. The bugs have been fixed and I have no problems in any countries on any of the worlds I have been on (all of them) since the HLW bug was fixed. EDIT: I have taken time out of my busy schedule to find your KB country. I assume it's your main, since I see it has the approx. health and education levels you mentioned, as well as MLW shortages. Congratulations, you have both MLW and HLW workers. The answer is simple: You over-built somewhere. You have three months worth of shortages combined. You can fix this in a day. |
Travis Goeringer (Kebir Blue) | Thursday, September 18, 2008 - 05:04 pm When I built those corps, I actually had more than the required amount of mlw's, but all of a sudden i lost over 20,000 before the corp was built, so it couldn't fill all spots. I've dealt with over-building and I know what happens when you do it. I ended up closing a ton of corps to fix it. Now I try to make sure I have enough. But when I convert other workers into mlw's when I have no demand for them, I still lose them the next month. |
Angus88 (Little Upsilon) | Friday, September 26, 2008 - 09:08 am Yeah I have the same issue. I don't see how it is a "management" issue since the only way you can increase MLW numbers without increasing the other worker types is to constantly convert high supply educated professionals. The ratio of supply of MLW is too low compared to LLW HLW supply and/or the demand for MLW is too high in corporations compared to LLW HLW. They do seam to disappear, and shitloads of LLW appear no matter how many I get rid of. As a CEO every country I build a new corporation in has more HLW then MLW, how is that a management issue? And don't say people should build corporations that hire less MLW because the market mainly dictates what corporations you can build. |
Petra Arkanian (Little Upsilon) | Friday, September 26, 2008 - 09:19 am Just because you don't SEE how it's a management issue doesn't mean that it isn't. Most countries running at a high level of employment are going to need conversions of educated workers into one or another worker type. In some of my larger, highly employed countries I have plenty of HLW and MLW but run low on LLW. It's not the game, it's the education-on-steroids system I had going there, plus building corporations that used high LLW amounts. The HLW bug was a bug. You WILL experience worker shorts if you aren't careful. It doesn't mean you don't know how to manage your country if you are getting MLW shorts (although Travis' case could have been solved by some simple graph reading). It simply means that something you did has resulted in a shortage of MLW. |
Cujo Havez (Golden Rainbow) | Sunday, September 28, 2008 - 10:58 pm Just a thought. One thing I ran into is that if I go to build a croporation, it tells me the amount of workers that are UNEMPLOYED, but makes no mention (on the build new corporation page) of the workers ALREADY NEEDED to get my existing corporations up to 100% hiring. Make sure all of your corporations are 100% before building new corporations. |
Angus88 (Little Upsilon) | Monday, September 29, 2008 - 10:57 am I have more MLW then LLW, I constantly convert other professionals into MLW. I need to to keep the ratio of unemployed workers at a respectable level. I figured out the problem though. Efficiency upgrades have the least weight on MLW levels, causing MLW to be employed in the highest amount out of all the workers. This demand does not correlate with worker supply, as we can't control the supply of specific worker levels (worker priorities) I consider this a bug. |
ira0348 (Kebir Blue) | Monday, September 29, 2008 - 02:39 pm Indeed, I've made this point before as well, surely LOW level, MEDIUM level and HIGH level implies different education/training/skill levels in workers, therefore we should be able to prioritise them. Until then, I re-position nurses and teachers as needed, seems like they are quite easy to train to excess, like priority 6 will do, but my health and education indices both only hover around 100. |
Angus88 (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, September 30, 2008 - 01:42 am Low level managers work best for the priority point. |
ira0348 (Kebir Blue) | Tuesday, September 30, 2008 - 10:24 am Thanks Angus, I'll look at that, just seems I've always loads of unemployed Teachers and Nurses. |
Travis Goeringer (Kebir Blue) | Wednesday, October 1, 2008 - 01:54 am Okay, then explain why when in one of my slaves, i needed 0 workers in every field for 100% production. I converted MLW's, and the next month, I lost 80% of the workers I had just converted.....instead of being condescending petra, be helpful. You're being an arrogant prick. |
Petra Arkanian (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, October 1, 2008 - 06:29 am No, I'm being a bitch. Get it correct. I'm also telling the truth. Get that correct as well. An alternative explanation is that as your corporations upgraded, your demand for HLW exceeded your supply, thus causing the MLW, and other, shortages. This ALSO explains the across-the-board shortages I saw when I looked at your country. This ALSO falls under mismanagement. |
Angus88 (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, October 1, 2008 - 08:59 am No Petra. Efficiency upgrades do effect the worker supply/demand ratios of workers. At the end of the day, the worker generator is probably still running the same formula as SC started, back then apparently economies were geared for state corporations, which is not the case now. If you do not have 100% hiring though Petra's explanation could make scene. There is also the case of retirees, someone needs to take over for the other aging MLWs, and since you need to supplement supply by converting odds are that the worker generator will not supply quite enough MLWs to replace them, resulting in you loosing some MLWs even though there is no detectable demand. |
Travis Goeringer (Kebir Blue) | Wednesday, October 1, 2008 - 12:21 pm Okay, now that makes a lot more sense. Why couldn't you say that in the first place? |
Petra Arkanian (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, October 1, 2008 - 03:14 pm Quote: No Petra. Efficiency upgrades do effect the worker supply/demand ratios of workers.
I just said that they effect the demand. What is it with you people and not reading what I wrote correctly? |
Angus88 (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, October 2, 2008 - 11:00 am I'm sure you said HLW shortages caused MLW and other shortages. And Travis I brought up efficiency upgrades first because they are a likely cause of the demographic hole. |
Angus88 (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, October 2, 2008 - 11:03 am Oh man I just realized how extra stupid I just made myself look. My bad ignore my previous message. |
