Lord Mndz | Sunday, October 27, 2019 - 05:05 pm Simcountry has seen a lots of good players but information you can find about them is very limited, mainly in forum and and the heads of those who can still remember them. In my opinion this information is very important and part of game history which should not be forgotten and creates lots of value. To fix this situation I suggest adding two features below:
- History page for every country
- Players history book
History page for every country History book would contain a log of main events and some country parameters of a country. Record would be added upon these main events:
- President gets a country
- President abandons/loses/sells the country
- President wins a war/wages/is attacked by (All PVP wars information and peace treaties)
- President is evicted
- *****
What value such information creates?
- Allows new player to compete against past presidents who ruled the country. Who can make country better to stand a time?
- Attracts old players to return and check how the new players are/were doing with the country
- Allows to show for other people past achievements
- Creates feeling that nothing starts and ends when country is registered or abandoned, it lives its own life
Clicking on the player names redirects you to the Players all time hall of fame, where you can see information/achievements of the player, not only the country.(Described below in Players history book) |
Lord Mndz | Sunday, October 27, 2019 - 05:44 pm Players history book & Historic Rank I think everyone of us heard numbers of stories about players who did incredible things and achieved a lot in the game. I think these people deserve to be mentioned in some history book that would track all account based achievements. These players could also be ranked and in this way we would have best all times players Fall of fame that would compete with the current players. This is how it could look: It would also be nice to be able to click on players name and be able to see his old profile information. Historic rank points would be calculated from many different things including time player played the game. Players would get additional points with every year spent playing here. How all this would work? This list would be always active and calculate points/achievements every game month, so current players would be compared against all times legends in a live ranking. This ranking only shows best/highest achievements and is updated only when you improve your current statistics. Then player leaves the game his ranking is no longer calculated but his best statistics remains forever. I feel that historic ranks and competition would be very fun and interesting, it would also allow to compare old times best people with the current ones. Old good players could always check how they are doing in the all times best players list and could return to regain their glory. I believe that this feature would also reduce attrition rate of old top tier players as they will compete until they will be best in the all times list, which will not be an easy task. With such a list a quote "I achieved everything" will not be relevant and people will work their ways to become all times best players. |

Lord Mndz | Saturday, November 16, 2019 - 12:52 pm Andy, w3c has been looking for achievements framework for many years. I think my proposed framework would work really well also you could add many more things that you like players to compete for on top of this. |
Andy | Monday, November 18, 2019 - 01:13 pm I think it makes sense. It is a huge feature to make as we will need to extend our databases with many history data items. In an ideal situation, I would want to start working on it. in the current situation it may take a long time to get to it. |
Lord Mndz | Monday, November 18, 2019 - 07:58 pm At least you think this is worth implementing it is fine to have this in the backlog and you never know when ideal situation comes |
E O | Friday, September 10, 2021 - 02:54 am I agree with this, and know I'm poking something very old. There used to be a fairly active website maintained by players who wrote articles about countries, wars, and game history here: https://simcountry.fandom.com/wiki/Main_Page Some of my old shenanigans on FB are even recorded there if you look deep enough in the page edit history and find edits made by Jojo the Hun (as you can tell by the fact that I've checked, I too enjoy remembering fun times I've had here). :P The pages get overwritten frequently, but even still, it's fun to see what players think is worth writing about. I bring that site up to demonstrate that enough players used to think the idea of recording sim history was worthwhile enough to spend their own time doing manually. This was a big draw for them and their actions in the game. As those players left the game, wiki activity slowed as well. Something automated from simcountry.com, even if basic, would be very fun and could help players think of new goals, new experiments, new themes for their empires, and so on. More interaction with simcountry material = good. |
SuperSoldierRCP | Tuesday, October 19, 2021 - 09:15 pm I agree with EO. I used to work heavily in recording old wars/stories/players I think the GM needs to start having player "moderators". They shouldn't be able to ban or anything like that, but the player base should be able to elect a few players who act as the central point of knowledge and teaching. Your new player check out this link, they help update old fandom pages(which the GM will later review and store on this site as historical records), go though the old text/docs and help the GM modernize and update. Players are elected for 3 months and during which maybe get free membership during that time as a thank you. I'm an Xbox Ambassador and you get TON's of free swag for reviewing games, helping the community, and all of that. For maybe 2-4 hours of "work a month" and that's just playing new games and reviewing them. I think if SC had really strong social media marketing and a strong base or community members this game would thrive. I've had a few people join, play, and like the game, but they all said the social interaction is extremely limited. |
Andy | Saturday, January 1, 2022 - 04:19 pm We discussed it. It is a great feature to have. It will be also very helpful to us. We get questions from time to time that are not always easy to anser, like very recently, where is my country? it was gone. we have all the data in a huge accounting/log files. we have them from the start of Simcountry. however, as I said before, it will take a real effort to implement and we are immersed in a pool with many very helpful functions and must make choices. |
Lord Mndz | Sunday, January 2, 2022 - 02:04 pm Hi Andy, good to hear that data is with you and you like the idea. thanks |
Martin Childs | Thursday, December 15, 2022 - 08:51 pm When is this going to be added to the game, it sounds fantastic. |
Matthew IV | Thursday, December 15, 2022 - 11:22 pm If I had to guess, they're spending their resources elsewhere. I would love for this to eventually get implemented. |
Michael M | Sunday, January 29, 2023 - 07:13 pm this would be a great feature for the game |
