I will add the explanation of this later tomorrow. The new trading and resources planning mechanism could be achieved with few not major upgrades. This would create a new dimention of resources planning and trading that would lift this game a lot.

  • Local/Common markets as they are "corporation to corporations" trade relation.
  • Manual delivery of good to corporations either by CEO or Country

What if the Common Market was set up like an actual market?
Your corps deliver all of their products to the market. Your ent, countries and corps buy what they need. Whatever is left gets sold on the World Market.

I would really like an easier way to have corps supplied with a percentage of their demand and to have state corps sell to my ent.

Hi All,

I see a huge potential with some rather small updates to create very good trading mechanism which would allow players to enjoy trading. This is one of my old dreams for Sim Country, so let me share it.

Step 1. Automatically supply corporations from stock

Currently if you buy cheap resources from the market with your CEO or country you can only deliver them to corporations manually. I suggest:

  • To add checkbox(Yes/No) on corporations strategy page to indicate if resources have to be firstly delivered from stock.
  • If resources are not available at country/CEO stock only then corporation would put request to buy that on the market

Step 2. Allow to schedulle contracts from Country;s stock to CEO and vice versa

Currently you can initiate only single contract from country to CEO or from CEO to a country. I think it would makes sense to create schedulled contracts that would allow to plan volumes of supplies in stock by contracts.

Step 3. Add selling from stock strategy for countries and CEOs

To be able to speculate in the market you need mechanism where:

  • Sell depending on price
  • Define amount to be left in the stock

Sell from stock


Result

  • Players can compete setting various trading strategies
  • Trading will be new gameplay for countries/CEO
  • Markets will more stable as buying and selling will stabilize them
  • Competition in trading amoung players
  • CEO role will be more visible and important, as I propose to allow CEO to trade at much higher amounts.
  • Planing resources for corporations will be more fun


This game has so many products, a good trading system is very much needed to enjoy the game even more:)

You could do that even without local market. If all corporations sell to a country and take what they need from the stock of the country, the rest would be sold by country by following selling strategy.

From your step 1, I'm thinking you see it's a pain to keep the SWM corps supplied. This would compensate for my request to have fractional unit contracts. Either way would be an improvement.

Step 2, I agree, we should be able to contract from State corps to the Enterprise.

Step 3, it would be nice to auto-sell based on price. This may even lessen the product dumping.

The CEO could be better integrated into the empire.

John, step2 is from country/ceo stock to ceo/country stock.

It would be also nice to tune buying strategy page to trigger trading depending on price, but this is more complex, as you would need to know what amounts to buy, or how mutch to invest.

It would be interesting to see if other players also miss more trading features.

Currently if market price drops bellow profitable level, corporations are still selling to the market. To prevent this you would need to manually hold production for all these corporations individually. This is very cumbersome as you would need to investigate when they reach this level and restore production when selling is profitable again. In my proposed system you would only need to sell production to the country then country would sell when price in the market reaches the price player wants to sell at.

Also this would encourage players to investigate situation in the market to see what cheap resources to buy.

Good suggestions here but one error.
These are not small updates.

no problem if we are talking about a large effect on game playing.

I am not putting this aside but we currently have several features, asked for earlier and important and some we promised a long time ago and I am pushing to get them done.

one is very major but cannot be discussed ahead of time.
don't hold your breath but we really want to upgrade Simcountry.

Andy, i know that you do your best and appreciate it!

In my world the above would be pretty large change as instead of mostly working with education priorities i would be working with trade strategies. I am sure there are lots of people who like this gamestyle, but i know this is complex as many components are needed to make it right, lets wait for a good moment.

today ceo has no good way how to organize resources for corporations, buy when market is low and have corporations use cheap resources. whole resources gaming funcionality is missing.
