The War College is an idea to introduce a new stepping stone to prepare players for my Battlegrounds idea and wars against players in general. The premise is that the existing wars against c3s to raise war level do not provide the necessary skills for pvp wars. The goals that I imagine, in detail, for War College are:

1. To learn pvp related skills including things like joining a federation, setting up a fed-assisted defenses, invading a country that resists with a 3-wing air response, setting up a depot, and so on. As many challenges as possible should be included.

2. To provide substantial rewards to graduates to provide players who complete the war college, both to provide incentive to complete it and to offer them the tools to compete with other graduates and other war players.

3. To strengthen the original intended purpose of the war levels system by automatically elevating players who complete the war college to the top or near top tier of the war levels system. Maybe level 10.

In meeting these goals, I envision a system whereby:

1. A War College level system is introduced. Only premium members may join the War College. Very few levels, compared to war levels, would exist. I imagine 3 levels. All players who choose to start the program start at level 0. This level would be viewable on each player country similar to war level.

2. To raise levels in the War College, certain accomplishments must be completed similar to advancing game levels. For example, one of the requirements for level 1 may be that you must be in a federation, must own a depot, and you must station an air wing in a country other than your own. Level 2 might require declaring war on a c3 and, rather than selecting a war level for the c3, you select the "War College" challenge. This c3 would offer challenges similar to a player country, particularly, by offering a 3-wing air response.

3. Upon reaching the max War College level, perhaps level 3, the player is automatically advanced to a high war level, if they are not already. Perhaps, level 10. The player would automatically receive all due gold coins from any advancement. For example, if advanced from level 4 to 10, that player would receive the coins for 6 levels (410 coins for non-FB).

4. Upon advancing a War College level, the player receives a cash reward. Perhaps, $5 Trillion for level 1, $10 Trillion for level 2, and $20 Trillion for graduation.

5. Graduates of the War College would automatically forfeit the protection of war levels, similar to the ability to turn off this protection currently.

6. If this idea is popular, I plan to revise my Battlegrounds suggestion. One change is that only War College participants would qualify for Battlegrounds. I will also look at ways of simplifying its development.

7. War College completion carries over to all worlds. This completes a Gamemaster goal of war competency not changing if a player simply goes somewhere else. This idea retains player choice rather than forcing it upon the existing war level structure, however.

I believe this change would benefit all players.

1. Players who complete this program will learn basic pvp skills and earn substantial assets both in gold coins, through war level awards, and cash. They will be able to further stay sharp and earn rewards in Battlegrounds. These players will be true military powers and the core of their federations.

2. Players who are not interested in the war game will see war players move away from the lower tier of war levels. Players who wish to dabble with the war game will have the option of advancing to as high as war level 5 and still be out of reach of the most skilled war players.

3. Existing war players of high war level will see new competition. Where some war players once stopped at the lower rungs of war levels to seek more pvp opportunity, the rewards of War College and fun environment of Battlegrounds will attract the majority to complete the War College program and populate the high war levels (and further have no war level protection).

What do you guys think in general?

If you like it, how would you shape accomplishing different War College levels.

"The war engine is one of the best functioning elements of the entire game. To send the developers back to the drawing board with it in the face of multiple, more needy, areas of the game that could be enhanced would be silly. Don't be silly you silly billy."

War College does not change how wars are fought. You quoted my response to the idea of "removing the attack button" as the solution to motivating players to participate in wars. I still reject that idea. Why don't we stick with keeping things in context? Fair?

Idk it just seems like more artificial shit that the game doesn't need... If people don't want to play the war game that's fine they can have their main in secured but everyone else should be able to play the war game without being segregated by war levels which don't mean anything

It is unlikely war levels will be removed. That said, your view is not alone. I have the opportunity to speak to a few who cannot post to the forum. Xon thinks the idea is "kool" but would also prefer war levels and other protections be removed.

I think the best compromise is to do what is possible to have war players free of those protections while allowing war levels to serve their original purpose. I also think War College and Battlegrounds can create an upward mobility path to a new war player to acquire resources to eventually be able to compete with the small handful of players that currently dominate the PVP scene.

edit:

In fact, if this is done right, any 5 players that fed up after completing the war college will be a legit force on any world.

You know, someone with the skills could set up a war game simulator. I've seen it done for other games. It's just an independent web site that allows you to set up initial conditions, then see what happens when you use different tactics, different units, different strengths, etc. - to play war games.

I like this, kind of like a war level fast track. It might not be every new player's cup of tea, but the large short-term rewards would probably encourage quite a few of the 'play fast, burn out fast' newbies to get involved (and receive a significant GC injection too).

That alone should create some excitement and raise the normality of war :-)
