I suggest adding a rule that if you don't qualify for any monthly awards for six months your score penalty is removed. The wording here is important in that this does not apply if you refuse an award. Six months seems long enough to be on the sidelines of competing for an award.

What do you guys think?

There is already a penalty for accepting an award to level the playing field if you can't get an award with that rule in place maybe you don't deserve one

Yes, there is a score penalty. That is what this thread is talking about. Not sure what knowledge you are trying to share with us here.

Simple.

1. Some players are handed a substantial score penalty when accepting a monthly award.

2. Said score penalty prevents them from meaningfully competing for monthly awards for many months.

I propose:

3. If they qualify for no monthly awards for the 6 months following their last monthly awards = their score penalty is reset to zero.

As I said in the original post, this would not apply if an award is refused, only if they never qualify for an award for those 6 months.

Make Sense?

Let me translate for my highly esteemed colleague: 'I dont want to wait more than 6 months to win awards!'

I support it 100%

why not make it simple?

if you keep being #1 every earth month, then you should keep earning that reward. you deserve that reward because no one else is capable of taking over.

I would agree with no score penalty but I believe this to be a non-starter with the game developers. Just looking for a compromise. As it stands, there are players receiving score penalties that will not wear off for YEARS.

Based on responses, you guys might have a point to move the bar a bit from my initial suggestion. Why not 5 months with no award (so you can potentially compete penalty-free very 6 months)? Also, maybe the player should be able to refuse awards to have the choice to regain penalty-free footing.

Keep the responses coming! I think this is an important issue that goes to motivating players to continue to play the game.
