Thursday, June 14, 2012 - 06:44 pm Someone just declared war on me a few days ago, and so I activated all of the weapons in my reserves, and purchased many more weapons on the world market in order to defend my country. However, the player who declared war on me, never actually bothered to attack my country. Now, I have a very large number of active weapons which are very expensive to maintain, and I want to deactivate them as quickly as possible to reduce costs. However, I don't have time to check in every single game month to deactivate those weapons. You know the optional feature where simcountry will automatically reactivate weapons each month during wartime? Well, I think it would be good if there was an option to have simcountry automatically DEACTIVATE weapons each month during peacetime, to more quickly reduce costs if players don't have the time to log on every single game month to deactivate weapons.

Thursday, June 14, 2012 - 11:47 pm why don't you go war on that aggressor, take him out while you can before he/she change mind. i just learned now that deactivation is fast, but reactivation is very very slow.

Friday, June 15, 2012 - 01:08 am @xiong, war should never be practiced on the young let alone those who cant even defend themselves but then again its needed for them to grow, your comment is fool hardy

Friday, June 15, 2012 - 03:39 am I'd go along with the suggestion, only if there was also a way to block it. I keep a reserve of active weaponry on hand. Hate to see that go inactive - like just before a war declaration.

Friday, June 15, 2012 - 12:18 pm @ Marshal Ney That's exactly what I was thinking of: an optional feature to deactivate weapons every month in peacetime, which could be switched on or off depending on the president's preference.

Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 11:22 pm Something to consider - how would that tie into a president during his first two weeks in office? It can be a bit hard to build up warstocks - even more so if they are deactivated while still stocking up enough to deploy into a unit. (Especially if you can't be online long enough for that last purchase order to come in.) Would it be simpler instead of an automatic system, to instead be able to set a target level like we currently do for fighting levels and etc? That would give the flexibility you want, without unduly hindering someone else. M. Ney

Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 11:24 pm err, sorry - that would apply to reactivating more than deactivating - but could be plausible for either side.

Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 11:55 pm @jiang hu warrior, just being on this game for awhile, i do see that a lot of players are peaceful, helpful, and i could learn a lot from. but there seems to be a few, who needs to be put in their right places. these are the ones that don't realize there are other presidents/nations much much more powerful than them. i just won't want to be an aggressor to another president, unless i have several million weapons and military resources to know that i can annihilate them on every world that have country/empire. peace is a hard thing to achieve, few don't realize what takes to get there... on this topic, there needs to be an automatic deactivation and reactivation of military resources. it's frustrating to not have enough military resources to take out the enemy in a few hours, even though you have tons of them in the warehouse. and if anyone know how to create a great economy that can support a great active military 100% all the times, i would definitely need that kind of friends

Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 11:58 pm "Would it be simpler instead of an automatic system, to instead be able to set a target level like we currently do for fighting levels and etc?" ~ Marshal Ney Actually, being able to set target levels of activated weapons in each category is even better than what I was proposing. It's a very good idea.

Saturday, February 23, 2013 - 12:16 pm This idea would make a lot of sense as i'm trying to deactivate a lot of my weapons now and it's everytime I log in I have to do this. Well yes there should be automatic deactivation of weapons during peacetime. How come the GM did'nt think of this idea before?

Saturday, February 23, 2013 - 03:47 pm No no no no, this comes from the older model when your defensive index was part of deciding your game level, as it still is for some players. You have to think of a better way to do it than just auto de-activate. And, to rant at yet another stupid idea for making the game more and more automatic...don't you want to play the game? Would you rather just log in from time to time to see that the computer has done it all for you? For gawds sake, it's been dumbed down enough already. You want simple...go play somewhere else, here is for thinking grown-ups.
