I don’t know how complicated this would be (I assume pretty), but it would be nice to see something like the Olympics, or the World Cup or something like that happen in a random nation (or even voted on by a board of leaders).
There could be minimum guidelines to what the indexes of the country, population or rank of the country would need to be in order to even be considered to host the event.
The obvious benefit would be that for the month the event is held in that nation it would receive a significant boos in income, as well as having a little prestige of hosting.

Cool idea, but we'll have to figure out a way to do it ourselves. The GMs have too much on their plates as it is.
Maybe a country can volunteer to host. It creates a set of weeklong contests like: Best Increase in Country Ranking, Greatest Number of C3s Conquered, Best Improvement in Ed, Health, Trans, or Welfare, etc. Using Asset Packages the host can collect a 1 or 2 GC entrance fee from each country that wants to participate in a contest; and to award 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes of 10, 5, 3 GCs. Obviously, the higher the prizes the more people will participate. The host can really benefit. (Using this scenario, the host can earn 2 GCs if just 10 players participate paying 2 GCs each to play.)
It would require trusting the host to honor the games and pay the award prizes. (And some tweeks in case not enough players participate.) |

Name your sport team
Train your sport team
Enter a global compition
Consume transport, sport, cattle feed?, milk, etc etc.
Adds to welfare?
A little simpler then olympics, but it's all good ideas i think. |

I like both ideas, but my original idea was closer to RaginPencil's.
I think stadiums would be an important part to this as well. It would be the focal point of the national teams and the focal point of the olympics (or what ever you wanted to call it  ). Also they could be looked at as a welfare building and have them like schools and hospitals where there could be one stadium in every major city. Kind of like a national sports league having stadiums across a country. |
