CorporatePartner (Fearless Blue) | Thursday, August 11, 2011 - 10:13 am "Direct Sales" are often useful to trade in limited amounts between known trade partners, or within an own Empire. Rarely, however, are they used on an "open market" to trade with various countries from around the world. The reason for this, generally, seems to be that "Direct Sales" offers are limited to one country per listing. Also, "Direct Sales" proposals sent to only one country or enterprise, can sometimes sit for very long periods of time and never be accepted, hurting the seller and other potential buyers. The suggestion would be to add a page that would allow all "public" listings of available "Direct Sale" offers, where other countries could browse and accept such offers. And, yes, "private" Direct Sale offers could still be made is currently done , as well. In this way, either a country (President) or enterprise (CEO) could search the available listings and accept those of interest. This could open the way for more trading, espcially given that "product shortages" and "world specific products" have created more need for various types of trade, including "Direct Sales". Example: Current ("Private"):
- Sell Precision Bombs to Country XXX 20,000 bombs 20.11M SC$ per bomb retract
- Sell Light Artillery to Enterprise YYY 18,000 cannons 16.32M SC$ per cannon retract
- Sell Weapon Quality Upgrades to Country ZZZ 300,000 units 1.83M SC$ per unit retract
Proposed ("Public"):
- Sell Precision Bombs to PUBLIC WORLD X 20,000 bombs 20.11M SC$ per bomb retract
- Sell Light Artillery to PUBLIC WORLD Y 18,000 cannons 16.32M SC$ per cannon retract
- Sell Weapon Quality Upgrades to PUBLIC WORLD Z 300,000 units 1.83M SC$ per unit retract
Once again, this suggestion would be only for "Public" offers within the --same world--, and would allow --both-- "private" or "public" offers. Both countries and enterprises could participate. For --inter-world trading--, however, some other system would need to be used (such as space trade). Simiarly, for contract proposals, some other system would need to be used (such as a "Common Market"). Yes, this type of listing could be used for both of those, however, that is not suggested at this time. In this way, a country who is say "shortage" of an item, could simply go browse the "public" "Direct Sale" offer lisitngs and see if some offers were available. Likewise, sellers could offer to a much broader market and expect to make timely sales. |

Crafty | Thursday, August 11, 2011 - 11:09 pm Are you suggesting any particular way of setting price? MP * Q, or w/mark-up, or seller sets price? |
CorporatePartner | Friday, August 12, 2011 - 07:07 am The original idea was just to have the price function exactly how it is done now (which seems to be "traded against current world market price plus quality"). It would seem a lot easier to implement. But, obviously, it's a "suggestion"-related topic, so others may have ideas as well. |
Crafty | Friday, August 12, 2011 - 07:30 pm Fair enough. Personally I would like to see the country to be able to make these offers at any price they wish. If you ask too much you're not going to sell. Ask little and it'll be gone in a flash. If they are public offers it wouldn't be likely to be abused by selling real cheap to friends because anyone could grab them. |
Solaris (Kebir Blue) | Saturday, August 13, 2011 - 10:22 am I like this idea, together with Crafty's additional caveat. |

SuperSoldierRCP (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, August 30, 2011 - 12:48 am AGREED!!! i think this would be awesome instead of having to wait monthly for the world market. I do think there needs to be a mininum amount offered though to prevent people from selling like 2 units of corn 100times move. Maybe a minimum of 100B per offer(game will tell you how much that is) . Max of 1T (granted that consumer spending is allowed to match military spending). Otherwise GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!! I APPROVE |
