David Wendelken (White Giant) | Monday, September 1, 2008 - 12:31 pm Some of us are limited to very slow download speeds, so the proper layout of a large page and the commands on it can make a real difference. Place "actions" at the top of the page, not at the bottom. Example: In the forum, place the create new conversation button at the top of the page, not the bottom. That way, I do not have to load the entire page every time I want to start a new conversation. Example: On the downloads pages, place the latest files at the top, because most of the time you go there, you will want the latest file. Example: On the corporate upgrades page, place the actions that allow you to order upgrades for all companies at the top of the page, not at the bottom. That way, you don't have to load the entire page of corporations when you want to order upgrades for all of them. |
