Do not read the section headings "more game features - war" and "more game features - weapons" and figure that the war section is distinct from the weapons section in being the place that explains how to use your forces during was and that the weapons section tells you everything else you need to know about weapons and setting up your forces.

All the other subsystems of the game have more or less made sense to me since the first time I looked at them. There were details I needed to ask, and sometimes some strategy questions I needed to ask to get myself started, but mostly I got it.

But I can't tell you how lost I was trying to understand the military, because I believed the documentation section titles actually made sense.

Good point, Dvd. Have to chuckle at that one.

Before I even set foot on SC I read all the intro stuff and the documentations. I wasn't really interested a whole lot in the political aspect of it at the time, I was looking for more of an economic sim. So I started as a CEO, no country.

That part has it's nuances also, but it's not really difficult if you have a reasonable business sense. But when I realized that CEO awards on GR are like 1 gc per month (5 if you're #1)and you had to get top 5 just for that, it dawned on me that it was going to cost me 4 bucks a month to keep playing. And at the time presidents were being paid 20-50 gc per month, and top 20 would get you something. So I took the plunge. I did exactly what you did vis a vis the "game features"! lol

Fortunately, a really good teacher came along (thanks Priest) and pulled my chestnuts out of the fire and got me off in the right direction.

I still learn something new every day, and I'm far from being any kind of power on the scene. But Rome wasn't built in a day, and maybe in 100 game years I'll be able to exert a little influence if that's what I want to do.
