In my experience, if you have a shortage of ammunition what happens is that a unit that contains the unit type that needs the missing ammo will be forcibly disbanded and the troops deactivated.
So if you have a division with 1380 weapons, and there's 20 artillery that are missing shells, then the ENTIRE DIVISION is disbanded and all the equipment deactivated.
Then you have to spend the next two days waiting for all the equipment to be reactivated, either automatically or manually.
If you see a looming ammo shortage coming, either remove the weapon systems that use it from units, build a corp the make the ammo and contract it to yourself, or set a small immediate order to buy time and then set a larger order to resolve the problem. |
