Several real days ago I made a huge mistake when setting up garrisons. I resolved to dismantle the garrisons and go with different types/numbers across the broad spectrum of locations that can be supplied with them.

Unfortunately, after a initial burst of garrisons being reduced in the first month, the supply units replenshing garrisons are not reducing the weapons back to country stock.

Things I have tried:

Increased the number of large supply units to 20, and the number of Offensive Military Bases to 3. Redeployed garrisons - No change.

Changed the default to undefended (my first action) - redeployed garrisons - after removing weapons from less then a half dozen garrisons, no further change.

Changed the default back to the way I had it originally set up, and reduced the first listed weapon type in the blue print to 0. Redeployed garrisons. No change.

Declared war on a sim country from this country. As I've learned this spurs the supply units into action - suggesting a disconnect in operations, from peace to war time. Redeployed garrisons. No change.

Now that the weapons systems are tied up in garrisons, I have no option to destroy them. I'd be loathe to lose several trillion in assets at this early stage in the country, but would consider it if there was a work around.

I cannot deactive weapons in the garrisons, and then use reactivation to move them back into country stock, then space program for out of the country, so I can redeploy back, as more weapon systems and cash inflow permit.

A little bewildered. Any advice appreciated.

Increased the number of small supply units to 10. Again, after an initial surge of dismantling with a few supply units in one month, we are back to no activity on this front.

Very few supply units are doing their job in peace time. If this is not needed, that is fine. However, I am experiencing units going out of supply, and the supply units are never dispatched. At this time I have defensive commitments, and am a little concerned that defensive air wings are going to sit idle because of this in war time.

I understand the concept of free will in a sim game. Is there any way to turn it off, so at least military units follow orders?

This is costing me both in-game cash and frustration.

Anyone with any advice on how to either get the supply units moving, or a way to destroy these weapon systems will have my undying gratitude.

MNey

Yet more problems.

Army unit Garrison TG3573 in Bretagne is not replenished.
Thu Apr 3, 3763 Not enough weapons and ammunition for the Unit.
The unit is short of weapons and ammunition for more than 3 months.

Please make sure the country has enough weapons and ammunition in stock to replenish your forces.

The supply problem revolves around AA Missiles.

Example:

anti aircraft missile batteries 180
anti aircraft missiles -518
nuclear defense missiles 4

From Products in Stock:

Anti Aircraft Missiles 1.92M SC$ per missile 241 852 135,267

This makes me a little leary of removing all ammunition, and waiting for the game to slowly destroy the weapon systems to turn them into ammo, as it's supposed to do vis a vis the game documentation.

This problem has been going on way too long. I see no way out of it.

Supply Units are not working correctly. In addition to the salaries for thousands of soldiers for weapon systems I no longer have any control over, I am stuck paying for 852 AA Missiles per game month. To say nothing of the lost income potential as these soldiers could be in a factory.

changing over to the smallest possible garrison for the garrisons already deployed is not working. That wouldn't solve the problem, but would stop SOME of the hemorraghing.

What am I doing wrong? How do I fix this? Throw the country away? Hire someone to come in and destroy the weapon systems?

At my wit's end with this particular problem.

Cordially yours,
MNey

I have the same problem, the weapons just sit there in the garrisons, still claiming a good portion of ammunition and game money. At one point I had 14 supply units just for that particular reason, but nothing really happens, all supply units are idle.

I find that I create an absurd number of supply units to get the job done. I have 10 units so I make 25 supply units to supply them. The re-supplying is very very very slow.

After watching the garrisons not changing at all after ordering them to dismantle, I used another garrison blueprint and supply units responded immidiately. After the change was completed, I changed it to "Undefended", and the day after I checked, garrisons was emptied.

Problem solved

Always Ready, I tried a version of that (I didn't create the blueprint, I had already done so previously). Situation having resolved, I will keep this mind, however, in the interim.

I'm of the opinion that the problem is related to the automatic supply system. While not using our supply units per se, they do use a benchmark for the number of units that deliver, and a benchmark for determining which units are out of supply. I'm of the opinion those should be raised in the first instance, and lowered in the second. More supply units moving, to more critically needed units. Having to disband defensive or offensive arms, and lose the fighting levels is a pain that should not have to be suffered through. Worse will be getting attacked, and having the units not respond because they have no fuel etc.

Note:that is a SWAG, if you'll pardon an engineering term, not backed up by hard data at this time. Time is being stretched thin at the present.
