Dominik | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 12:04 am Hi everyone, The population of my country (Republic of Selene, on KB) suddenly dropped by 56,425. There are no messages of disasters or attacks, so I wonder what else might have caused the sudden drop in population. My health index is 150+, and the welfare index is at 132+. Thanks in advance. Star Foth | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 01:26 am Likely you bought people or got a baby boom before. Age is in this game, they keep records, in months, with values for the months in age. There's also death rates per age. It's likely a baby boom or purchased population reached an elderly stage. Check your population per age by clicking your population #. |
Laguna | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 04:32 am That can also happen if you build relief teams. |
Star Foth | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 06:17 am Actually, no it doesn't. It just assigns them to it, they don't actually leave their jobs. unless you deploy them somewhere. Trust me, I'm the relief expert, everything maxed, etc. |
Dominik | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 09:37 am Thanks for the answers! I've just massively build relief teams. But the total amount of the newly-established relief teams doesn't reach 56,000+ people? And they haven't been deployed anywhere. And the population actually dropped in the age groups from 15 till 65 (so, no sudden drop in the group of retired people). Still remains a mystery to me :P .. |
Dominik | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 06:47 pm And again my population fell with a number of 57,732... IMMEDIATELY after having build up some disaster relief resources. Why on Earth would that happen? You should receive a massive population bonus for getting a safer society. |
Star Foth | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 07:15 pm My population doesn't fall at all when I set them up, only when I deploy them. Even still, there aren't 104,000 people total in all of the units. If you max out all of the teams, it adds up to somewhere around 20,000. Besides, all the relief resources do is prevent population from dying during war time, reduce strategic weapon effect, and when they add in plague disasters (reason for innoculation units) You'll need, guess what? Inoculation units! |
Borg Queen | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 07:26 pm Just look up your newspaper-entries of the months when it dropped, most likely you got hit by an earthquake, with the new layout you most likely dont notice when you got hit by one |
Dominik | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 07:35 pm Thank you for the answers, I really appreciate it that you answered that quickly :-) but there are no messages of disasters or attacks. I didn't get hit by any disaster (except for the sudden population drop), and I also didn't get attacked by anyone. I do have 300 inoculation units :P |
Borg Queen | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 07:47 pm Funny Thing is it seems to have happened again right now as i watch your pop-graphic ^^ guess some of your Pop just wished to come over here for some Assimilation ^^ |
TheTenthClassofBLU | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 07:48 pm There's only like 30k people in all maxed teams. Therefore, there must be another reason. |
Dominik | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 08:16 pm Maybe they've found some better place live #deep sigh.. I'd still really like to know what really caused the population drop. This evening, I'll set up some new disaster relief resources, and we'll see what will happen ^^ |
Star Foth | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 09:45 pm I know what happened. You set up too many and consumed resources. Limit yourself. Don't use all your available resources for it. They left because you probably put too much into it, try to grow it steadily. Or just purchase excess resources to make them. |
Dominik | Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - 09:58 pm Ah ok, I didn't know it would have such an effect on my population lol. Except for food units and chemical hazard units, I have indeed set all disaster relief resources to the max now :P Thanks for the tips ^^ |

I'm not even sure if migration works properly... But if it did work as intended, it doesn't take your relief situation into account. I don't know why relief teams are removed from the general population, but I can imagine that it would be quite a drag if your teams disappeared during a disaster because the men died during it. ;0 |
Star Foth | Thursday, August 1, 2013 - 02:17 am They aren't taken away, they're still there!. Unpacking them doesn't increase, and packing them doesn't reduce. Like I said before, it's about 20k people in all teams, that doesn't even amount to 100k people. |
TheTenthClassofBLU | Thursday, August 1, 2013 - 02:19 am Star's right, they don't get removed from the population. He's said it a number of times, and I'm backing him up on it. |
tylerkterada | Thursday, August 1, 2013 - 02:27 am I'm pretty sure star is right as well. |
Laguna | Thursday, August 1, 2013 - 04:39 am Are you all sure? I don't have access to my countries right now, so I can't take a look. I know that it did, and since the beginning, because it was part of C3 raiding. I doubt W3C would "fix" it, since it is a small thing and they would have to think of a way to show the teams being sent abroad. As to why it could reach +50000 people disappearing: build the max, send away, build the max again. That way, you can reach the number of people that disappeared. Anyway, are there any alternative hypothesis as to why Dominik's population disappeared? |
Star Foth | Thursday, August 1, 2013 - 05:26 am I read what happened in his data. A huge group of baby boomers made it into a major death age. If he did send them off, that may have contributed. |
Dominik | Thursday, August 1, 2013 - 06:25 pm Well, it's not a "baby boom group" that died.. In all groups between the 15 and 65 years old, the population dropped. The population continued to grow in the groups under the 15 and above the 65 years old. So, it can't be the case that a group of only baby boomers died. Thanks again for the many replies and for trying to solve this little mystery :-) |
Star Foth | Thursday, August 1, 2013 - 07:48 pm Well then, I'm not sure. Although it might just be a glitch. Maybe they died of hunger because you set up the maximum food units you could, leaving nothing for the populace. OR The migration index detector's bugged and maybe a ton of people left. |
Dominik | Thursday, August 1, 2013 - 09:06 pm That might be true, maybe they just didn't like it that my country has French and German as official languages and left lol ^^ thanks for checking :-) |
