Kaddafi (Fearless Blue) | Saturday, March 19, 2011 - 11:28 am Hey all, new to the game and hoping for some tips to point me in the right direction. I understand the game in general but there are a few things that just puzzle me. Military - What sort of defence should I set up? I currently have two helicopter defences and an interceptor. Thats it. Im reluctant to set anything else up as i have no idea of the numbers required ie how many helicopters should i have and over how many seperate brigades etc. And also how are you supposed to know the sufficient amount of supplies needed etc. If somebody could just write out a couple of tips in lamens terms I would appreciate it. All help is welcome, not just military. Thanks |
Synicus (White Giant) | Saturday, March 19, 2011 - 11:39 pm When ya click setup of the force type, like Air, click the underlined name of units available and a pop up will show what the unit requires. Your country news should tell what minimum units you should have. Garrisons are important and you'll need reserves of used items, like ammo, and fuel. Since your playing on the war world, the rest is up to you. |
Accordion_This (Little Upsilon) | Sunday, March 20, 2011 - 01:00 pm Set up a "Tiny Garrison" blueprint with 100 jeeps and deploy it at 1% across all forts. Buy 100 forts. Make sure every city has a nuclear defence battery and 20 or so ND missiles (in the form of a garrison blueprint). |
CorporatePartner (Golden Rainbow) | Thursday, March 24, 2011 - 09:01 am Usually 2-to-1 Interceptors to Helicopters (Defense) is common. Also set up many Small Supply Units which are useful for various things, mostly re-supplying defenses around your country, but are also good to protect land areas. Basically, most everything can be defended, so it's just a matter of setting up some basic defenses as stated above. Also keep educational priorities at maybe 6-10 for Middle Level Managers as they are usually in short supply if building military then adjust as needed. |

Psycho_Honey (Little Upsilon) | Monday, April 18, 2011 - 11:51 pm Going off what CP said... In my opinion, if you have up enough interceptors to where they can't drain the helos, you don't need that many helo wings. If you have 80K interceptors, and 40K helos, that takes a lot of manpower. Most people will come in to take out interceptors first then drain the helos. If I had at least three countries with fedded air defense, with 80K interceptors in each, you won't need many interceptor wings, maybe 20K for all 3 countries total. You can keep extra interceptors on hand to replenish or redeploy more air wings and most likely if the attacker can't take out the air defence, those helo's would never see action unless the attacker is willing and capable of taking catastrophic losses. It is rare to see a single player take out air defense quickly. You need to be fluid with air defense, templates are useful but you'll need to adapt them to your situation. The most pertinent factor in evaluating your needs will be "What war level are you playing?" If your answer is 0 - 2, then you need nothing but a few helicopter wings and a good amount of ammo to prevent and discourage sneak attacks. If your answer is level 3 or higher, you'll need more for a good country, you'll need a monster amount of air defense to deter potential attackers. And as far as this...

That is okaaaaay advice, if you'd go so far as to call it that. You'll need 2 nuclear defense batteries and they need be of good quality, or I'll still nuke you. Cuz, yes, I have just that many damn nukes and bombers... Note: the ammo for the nuke batteries needs to be of high quality, the jeeps you also want to put in the garrison for forts per matts suggestion also need be of high quality, or they'll drag the garrison quality down, then I'll still be able to nuke you. You also need to keep those supply units, and make sure you buy the appropriate upgrades to make sure those high quality weapons don't degrade, and I nuke you some more. Also, if you are war level 0 - 2, you don't need anything but the few helo wings to keep sneak attackers at bay. |

Hmmm, well, I have taken out 3/4 million helis in one sitting, maybe an hour or two... |
NiAi (White Giant) | Tuesday, April 19, 2011 - 07:09 pm "Also, if you are war level 0 - 2, you don't need anything but the few helo wings to keep sneak attackers at bay." I was under the belief that ALL pvp was forbidden when under warlevel 3, does sneak attack ignore warlevels? |
Psycho_Honey (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 19, 2011 - 09:45 pm Yes it does ignore war levels. I've sneak attacked a few IDC corps, but it was a test run not an intentional attack. I could have wiped out all the corps in the country but didn't want to discourage anyone. |
