So i understand that having weapons and ammunition in base stock as opposed to in units lowers ur DI and that garrisoning weapons and ammo in fortifications increases ur DI, what i dont get is the difference between having a defensive unit stationed and active at a base vs a garrison in a fortification, im assuming the troops are taken from the unit? or are these two seperate things? Im sure this has been asked but I havent had much luck finding the forums for this question

The defense in SC lacks all coordination, so a unit located at a base will not help defend a base. Hence, the base needs a separate garrisons.

not entirely true, a defensive unit placed next to a location will help that location to defend.

In my wars, I have never to my knowledge had a defensive unit, that wasn't being attacked, support another unit.

Forts apparently have an intrinsic garrison that responds in some way, when the defense at a Fort is attacked, but without a garrison that you put in it never damages the attacker. You just the get that irritating message about the the attack would have been lessened had there been MI in place.

No, defensive units just sit pleasantly awaiting annihilation.

He could be talking about air defense units.

Rather than start a new thread, I will us this one.
My question is :
Does quality in forts make any difference. I have never seen this discussed anywhere.

My understanding, but by no means guaranteed 100% accurate.

I think that if there is no defensive garrison for the adjacent defensive unit to assist then it wont do much, however, an active defensive unit will assist a targets garrison provided it has suitable weapons. Kind of like offensive units support air attacks.
This is second hand information passed down from a very experienced war player of many many years.

Cant answer fort question but I would doubt Q is a factor yet, only weapons and ammo.

I would tend to agree that fort quality doesn't matter. Yet. What about it, Tommi ?

Thanks, Crafty
