Shadowboy (Golden Rainbow) | Sunday, March 15, 2009 - 03:42 pm I'm new to sim country so I have some questions about the Defense Index. Why is my Defense Index always falling? I purchased a lot of defensive weapons but it has no effect onto my Defense Index; how else can I get my Defense Index to go up? Where should I deploy my troops to? |
KaptainKrak (Little Upsilon) | Friday, April 10, 2009 - 02:58 am If your still playing Shadowboy, or anyone else confused by this, here's a good answer. You can't just buy a bunch of weapons and see an increase. You have to go a few more steps, that is building garrisons in your residential, industrial and fortifications, also doesn't hurt to put some in your military bases. Next you have to set up some defensive units, this will take a little time to figure what a good unit consists of. Remember that every active weapon uses workers and managers as soldiers and officers (respectively), also every active weapon cost money and ammo to maintain. If your not careful you will see a shortage of workers, an increase in monthly cost, and possibly fall deep into debt. Believe me it isn't fun then, i was there 7trill into debt. If your have not read the documentation on war this the time to do it, garrisons contibute a small % to your defensive index, active weapons even smaller, defensive units provide the most % to the index. All of these %s are shown in the documentation. Good luck to all. |
Pathetic Sheep (Little Upsilon) | Saturday, April 11, 2009 - 12:49 pm The weapons have the same effect on the defense index regardless of deployment. You will want garrisons if you are attacked. The usual reason DI falls is because your weapons are deactivating. This is caused by either shortages in low level workers of medium level managers. You can get around the deactivation by raising government worker salaries. However, that will cause havoc in your corporations and costs a lot. Setting a high education priority for MLM is a better way. If you are just trying to boost the DI index and you do not care about actual defense then you should buy lots of missile interceptor batteries. You can deactivate some of the other weapons and save them for when you expect to have combat. KaptainKrak was correct about defense having 2X the impact as other types but there is a wide variation in point values for various batteries. Missile interceptor batteries are the most efficient in terms of $SC and also soldiers needed. Missile interceptor batteries are not very useful in wars. |
AlexandeRtheGreaT007 (Golden Rainbow) | Thursday, April 23, 2009 - 12:36 am To add to what Pathetic's comment, you should buy about 30,000 MIBs if you want to reach level 3 or higher. |
AraelDark0 (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, April 23, 2009 - 04:10 am i used to have an army of 2.500.000 soldiers and officers, then the i deactitaved all the army to save money and and workers, that was 2 year (game) ago and still is showing the same size and cost maintenance. is that a bug or the way the game works? |
Psychotic Chicken (White Giant) | Thursday, April 23, 2009 - 08:06 am Deactivated military is still expensive. But the workers should be available. The cost should be around 65%. I haven't tried it or measured exactly. Probably varies with salaries and the size of empire. There are also soldiers in your forts and bases. They can be in garrisons but even when the garrison is "undefended" soldiers and officers are still there. So even if you sell everything you won't reach 0 costs. Anytime you have more than 200,000 unemployed medium level managers they start converting back into workers. |
