Saturday, January 10, 2009 - 10:12 pm I have a couple of questions about weapons if anyone can help... My World Trade Buy/Sell page on KB shows that the population use 49 offensive air-to-air missiles each month, even though I don't have any. I sold them all to prevent this usage and I cancel monthly orders to restock. I even sold all of my fighter planes as I thought this would stop it, but it hasn't. Why does this happen and is there anything I can do about it? What's more frustrating is I have just read an article by Tattooed Priest advising new players to assemble 40,000 of these missiles before trying to create a slave nation - something I am planning to do in the future. With a large shortage, it could be a while =( And secondly, looking at the table in the documentation notes of index points per defensive weapon, soldiers and officers needed for each and then looking at the cost per unit, my calculations tell me that missile interceptor batteries are the most efficient way of reaching level 2, which is my only aim ATM. Is it a bad thing to concentrate on stockpiling one type of weapon? Or should I spread it around to make things easier in the future?

Saturday, January 10, 2009 - 11:44 pm Kiteless, 1) Selling the fighter planes should stop the monthly usage. Maybe it takes a month or so to kick in? 2) As far as the missiles go, don't let market shortages worry you. It may take a little longer, but you'll get them. You can have the game auto-buy them for you by using the Trade -> Order Strategies page. 3) I would have to recommend spreading it out to some degree...especially since MIB's are one of my least favorite batteries .

Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 12:42 am Thanks Kevin Alas, I sold the fighter planes approximately a couple of game years ago. Bizarrely, the monthly usage figure did drop to 29, only to return to 49 again, without any significant differences to my offensive force. It looks like I will just have to swallow it. accept this monthly usage and the subsequent cost that goes with it while I build up a supply of missiles. I will follow your advice and spread the range of weapons around

Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 01:40 am When I was leveling I only bought MIB's but I planned to have larger empire. I have sent transferred a lot of those to my slaves and balanced my forces.

Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 01:58 am why would you sell all your fighter planes? those things are extremely useful in almost any war. i doubt the cost of 49 air to air missiles monthly is significant.

Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 01:59 pm The only explanation I have for selling the planes is that it seemed like a good idea at the time. I wish I hadn't, but c'est la vie and I am still very much on a learning curve. The cost of using 49 missiles a month seemed a lot just prior to my selling them all, but I have since realised that it isn't really a huge amount in the grand scheme of things. Is attacking a c3 without using fighter planes and air-to-air missiles a viable option?

Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 03:05 pm no it isnt unless you are going to use navy fighter planes. but those cost even more lol

Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 04:35 pm MIBs is the best way to level up, and being in your main you may never use them anyway. They are always there to sell or transfer to slaves to balance out their defence as the need arises.

Monday, January 12, 2009 - 06:48 am A good C3 attack wing consists of half fighters/half drones. once the drones die from helicopter/Interceptor defenses, disassemble the wing and make a new one with the same set up. Drones are cheaper to replace than fighters. Keep attacking "Defenses of the Target" until the heli's disappear. Sry went off on a military planning tangent there but I figured it would help you a little. PS. Always stock good levels of Ammo.

Monday, January 12, 2009 - 10:31 am Alexander, I'll give the navy fighters a miss for now, methinks Thanks for that tip, Treasurer. Advice such as that is invaluable to someone like me who has no idea on c3 attacks and what you have suggested is something I suspect I would not have done or even contemplated doing. Is the necessary information available anywhere as to how many units are required for air wings? I have slowly been accumulating precision bombers and precision bombs, but nobody has mentioned them yet LOL

Monday, January 12, 2009 - 10:32 am Oops, wrong bracket type for the smiley and I've only just noticed *blushes*

Monday, January 12, 2009 - 08:26 pm Set up of wings and blueprints is totally up to you. There is nothing in writing, just found through trial and error by those that went before you and paved the way. Bomber are great for killing anything as long as the defenses have been knocked out. That's where fighter/drone wings come in handy. Kill the defense of the target first then mop it all up with either ground forces, nfp, or bombers. I love NFP's myself....So versatile, but the ammo is hard to stockpile.

Monday, January 12, 2009 - 10:22 pm Well thanks to you all, this has been most helpful Having said that, any further advice is more than welcome =p I will confess to being a little bit nervous of a c3 attack as I obviously don't want to sustain too much damage to my own country, be it military, structual or financial. I doubt I'm the first or the last, either. This isn't like a standard computer game where you can return to a save point if things don't work out, or play around with different strategies knowing you have the cushion of a game save - but that's the beauty and appeal of it.

Monday, January 12, 2009 - 10:25 pm I thought I had posted, but didn't... I've changed the brackets, so you can see the smiley now. The next time you make a mistake and you notice it, after posting, just click on the icon (notepad and pencil) on the right of the timestamp of your post.

Monday, January 12, 2009 - 11:02 pm No there are no save points. And just because you attack a C3 does not mean it goes on the offensive. (Unlike a real player) C3's only act in a defensive nature. If you get tired or run out of ammo, it doesn't come after you. You can just let the war declaration expire if you like and try again later.

Monday, January 12, 2009 - 11:10 pm Cheers Laguna. I'll have another JD then, knowing that any typo's can easily be rectified... That's a relief, Treasurer. Nerves gone now...

Saturday, January 31, 2009 - 08:40 am Treasurer, You mention 50/50 fighters and drones but how many? I have 50 fighters and 400 drones. Lots of drones or bugger all fighters? Not enough of either? What is a good stockpile of ammo per weapon? Sorry. So many questions. Dex.

Monday, February 2, 2009 - 04:07 pm Well if you read the game docs thoroughly, you will find some very interesting tidbits that MOST players do not know because they can't be bothered with the docs. I strongly encourage you (if you are interested in the war aspect of this game) to read that section thoroughly in the documentation. It will list what each type of weapon can do and it's primary purpose. It also lists their percentages of effectivity and damage capabilities. If you want to be a skilled fighter I strongly encourage you to read that section. If you are having a rough time locating it, I will post the link to it now. Scroll down and examine each weapon type, it's attributes, and it's weaknesses. Here it is... https://www.simcountry.com/cgi-bin/cgi2nova?SN_ADDRESS=wwwDocs&SN_METHOD=weapons Then click on "Weapons in detail" and scroll down through each weapon. _______________________________________________________________ Also be aware that warring C3's (Computer Controlled Countries) is much different than warring another player. C3's do not counter-attack, players do. C3's defend, players can defend AND attack. C3's are predictable in their defense set-ups, Players are not. Usually it takes more OFFENSIVE capabilities to take (an active) PLAYER controlled country than a C3. Good Luck. T.
