Secretary Lord Lee is the top player all around. He has the best empire, CEO, and the most powerful in the government.

Actually, I disagree Hezy. Having a lot of corporations doesn't make you the best player. Lord Lee clearly is a dedicated player, but after watching his attempts at warring, I don't know how you could make an argument that he knows what he's doing in that field.

The issue in war was not lack of know how, but a lack of experience in player on player war.

Market value, assets, and number of corps are all cute. But in business, the most important thing is money.

I wonder which CEO on LU has accumulated the most net cash.

Money is good. Accumulated cash is good but can be a measure of time rather than skill.

in relation to what madoff said. cash can be taken out, and put in. what the measure should be, average market value of corps. you'd see a very different list.

Average market value does not measure the might of enterprises though. Small enterprises could be overrepresented in such a list.

What would be interesting is looking at profits. The challenge is that this can vary depending on corp mix from month to month. A three month average or so would be needed to see how enterprises stack up.

I want a giant hat.

Market value depends on time more than net cash depends on time.

Market value or corporation profits do not show profits from share sales or commodities trading. Net cash does.

Cash is king.

Not sure how you want to measure net cash. Most CEOs run countries too. If you are looking at accumulated cash over time, some of us net other things as well, like weapons. Notice the ranking shuffling on the top 2 lists.

What do you suggest?

I say take the total of assets add to the market value of the corporations then divide that number by the number of corporations, then add the available or liquid cash to that number. SO:

((At + MVt)/ C) + L= Best CEO in my opinion.

I thought the game already had a ranking system for enterprises. It's the list on your ent home page.

Lol, the Pope wants investment, but the Pope resigned today.

You can know how to raid a c3, but you need player on player experience to be able to hold your own in war. Also you need at least 2 or 3 fed-mates to cover you in defenses.

Knowing how to raid a c3 does not mean you know much or anything about war. You and Lord Lee could probably use some more experience before you start giving lessons or giving pointers in this genre.

@Brandon + rest of recent thread posters

Assets include the market value of corporations.

There are many ways to display data on CEOs, but none will ever be truly accurate. For example, some of the top CEOs build their own weapons and ammo. Those corps are NOT profitable, I assure you, but serve a purpose none the less. The market value for those corporations is garbage too. Additionally, having cash IN your ceo means very little. For those players with empires, there is virtually zero reason to leave cash in a ceo.

So cash is trivial? The business world, which CEOs simulate, would beg to differ.

For those who focus on market value, what good does market value do?

Cash is just unused value.

Obviously having more cash is a good thing, but storing it doesn't really help the current state of your account.

Market value isn't particularly useful either, but it gives a decent representation of the size and profitability of a CEO.

Commodity trading can be done from countries or CEOs, but doesn't measure one's skill at running an enterprise - an entity which is comprised of many corporations.

Speaking from my own experience on here the only time I start to sell my corps is if I need to raise some money fast. By usuallly by 'IPO ing' them (selling shares) which have very high market values. To put it in simple terms for relatively new players, the market value of a corp is also how much you can get for them in shares as well, which is a long process, not just to sell the whole corp as one.

So if you want to run your enterprise like an equity company, selling shares is definitely the way forward and can be extremely profitable when sold at the right time, usually when they're in high demand.

Or be like a dealer where you create and sell corps as one where you will get the total market value of it in a lump sum. Although the high value corps will be hard to sell since it is much cheaper to build them yourself.

Cash is the goal of business. But obviously, not everyone treats CEOs as a business simulation.

Some are more interested in the game mechanics that lead to higher levels, higher ranks, and GC awards, none of which have much to do with a business simulation.

Nor is it a business simulation to use a CEO to bail out an empire.

As noted, the purpose of market value is to get cash. Either from selling a whole corp, or from selling shares of a corp.

Share trading leads to cash.

Commodities trading leads to cash.

All roads in business lead to cash. Cash is king in the real world. But not for most in Simcountry.

Madoff, you are arguing something different from others on this thread. No one is arguing that cash is unimportant to which you are arguing that it is important. The questions is how to measure how successful an enterprise is.

As EO said, both countries and enterprises can commodity trade. So this is not the measuring domain for an enterprise.

Cash can be accumulated over time and generated from other sources throughout an account outside of an enterprise you wish to evaluate. A stock of cash, too, cannot measure the current profitability of an enterprise.

Trading shares is something I do quite a bit of and, again, in my country and enterprise. It can be an effective way to make money but is it the measuring stick for enterprises and how does one put a rankings to it?

Answer these questions and you will have a response to the current discussion.

Madoff

Tuesday, February 12, 2013 - 04:37 am Click here to edit this post
The current discussion is CEO stats, not what countries can do.

Cash is precisely a measure of profitability, if generated by the CEO itself.

If you deposit 150t into your CEO, then use that cash to buy high market value corps from Gamemaster Corps, and buy other assets, to become the CEO with the highest market value and most assets, does THAT make it the best CEO?

I think enterprises should be ranked by how cool their name is.

Therefore, I have the best. USS enterprise on KB, AND it's probably the oldest on KB, except for maybe Lagunas.

I don't have enterprises on KB anymore. :(
I allowed everything to get cancelled on KB, WG and GR and only kept one enterprise on FB.

So, they probably are the oldest enterprises on KB. I can confirm that for you, if you want.
