Presidents and CEOs of Little Upsilon,
I'm Matt, or Accordion_This, and I am the Chairman of the Independent Defense Coalition. Lately, we've been getting a bit of bad press, mostly at the hands of Wendy (Unappreciated Customer) and AK_47, who are unhappy at the fact that some members of the IDC were victorious over AK_47 in a war. I've started this post as an open letter to the people of Little Upsilon which will demonstrate, once and for all, that the IDC is a friendly, helpful federation, open to all, and without any hostility towards players new or old.
I'll start with an account of recent events. Wendy accuses the IDC of bullying a "n00b" into submission with nuclear weapons, failing to describe the full scenario that led to the war that occurred.
Crackcocaine, AKA AK_47, claimed to be a veteran before launching into a tirade against other players. He behaved like an asshat on the forums on multiple occasions. He threatened nix001 with nuclear warfare because nix had accidentally left a remote depot in one of the C3s he took. He insulted and threatened members of the IDC, and this was the last straw. Three members of the IDC attacked AK_47, disarming his military and removing his regime from several countries. These IDC members offered full compensation for fallout damage to surrounding players, whilst AK_47 used his spare time to whinge about the fact that he had been brought down a peg on the forums.
Although this war was not kind or nice, it was justified. What was not justified, however, was the tirade launched against the IDC by Wendy as a result of this war. Ignoring the fact that the war was initiated privately by members of the IDC (i.e., the war was not an IDC-approved plan), Wendy threatened the IDC with nuclear warfare if I did not remove three loyal players from the federation. What makes Wendy's threats all the more tragic is the fact that, less than a week ago, Wendy concluded a Non-Aggression Pact with the IDC, agreeing not to go to war with the IDC until Scarlet re-emerged from his disappearance. Like Hitler massing his forces on the borders of the USSR, Wendy now prepares to assault the IDC despite the peace she accorded with us less than 3 Little Upsilon years ago.
What is clear from all this evidence is that, although the private actions of IDC members was not nice, they were justified and hence do not deserve condemnation, let alone nuclear warfare. As Chairman of the IDC, I'd like to publicly assure the people of Little Upsilon, Presidents and CEOs alike, that the Independent Defense Coalition is not hostile to any player except the player who makes direct threats against its members. We are a loyal federation, a strong alliance, and we stand by each other through thick and thin. The IDC will weather the impotent drizzle of Wendy, and when all this is over, you will all see that we stood by each other through this time of turmoil, that we will always stand by each other.
So what's the moral of the story? The moral of the story is that you can trust the IDC. Every member of the IDC is loyal to its values, to its Chairman, and to each other. Every member of the IDC wishes peace and harmony on the people of Little Upsilon, but, by the same token, every member of the IDC will vehemently defend his fellows against tyrants like Wendy and AK_47.
So remember, whether you're part of this grand alliance or not, the IDC is on your side against the dictators of this world. We're with you, Little Upsilon. |
