Wait are you from the east coast yourself? I'm from Virginia (which any redneck would have you know is "culturally" the south, but geographically it's clearly eastern), I didn't get hit that hard where I'm at, but I go to college in Virginia Beach and they (along with North Carolina's Outer Banks) got hit with the initial hurricane straight from the ocean, so even though it really only rained as it went north, it was still a pretty strong hurricane when it hit. Luckily the storm didn't go too far west into Virginia, we just got a lot of rain like everyone else lol but I'm heading down to VA Beach today so hopefully it isn't still too messed up |

I'm in Norfolk, where we had 9+ inches of rain and lost a lot of trees. Large areas are still without electricity, but things are getting back to normal fairly quickly.
The rain fell on a fairly low water table which will keep flooding down a bit. There has been a forest fire going in the Great Dismal Swamp (yes, that's its name) on the Virginia-NC border and the hurricane didn't put it out completely. |
