Wednesday, June 8, 2011 - 03:28 pm Money Incorporated is saving the world, one FMU corp at a time. If you want to help Money Incorporated save the world, post the name of your country here so I can build an FMU corp in it! Remember, when you choose Money Inc, you choose profits.

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 - 05:35 pm clearly you need countries to build in. Why dont you see if you can find some free workers in: Astoria Mahakala Painless death Angel of Light (lots of workers) Unholy Trinity (Lots of workers) All Eternity (Lots of workers) Different CEO are all ready building so the availability of workers is swinging a bit. 0 Tax and 120-130 welfare

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 - 09:35 pm THE AMERICAN KINGDOM THE REVIVED KINGDOM OF QUINTON THE HOLY KINGDOM OF CHRIST All zero tax, good welfare and rising, i'll bring in as many workers as needed but alot should be availible or coming soon Someone defintly needs to save the world

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 - 10:51 pm All NiAi Starrepublic nations are always looking for new CEOs. Feel free to take a look. High welfare and low taxes and a 100% hiring policy. Lots of state corps so its easy to get 100% hiring even if there are not a huge unemployment (social-democracy ftw).

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 - 11:02 pm The Realm of Skullz, and TRoS2. You'll notice not that much room, in the way of workers. But, I will lower my salaries, that way you get the employees. 0% tax, and always hovering at 130 welfare. It won't take that long to get all hiring back to normal. And when it's good in the Realm, It's real good. Build away!

Friday, June 10, 2011 - 02:13 am I'll be sending out build orders to these countries within 3-4 game months (waiting for my current build schedule to finish). Expect some corporation requests from my newest enterprise, Accordion Amatil, as well. In the meantime, all you people that haven't responded should! Don't you want to save the world too? :P

Friday, June 10, 2011 - 04:37 am Accordian, I like your style! Don't have a country to offer you a home in at the moment, but had to say that I enjoy people who can get into the spirit of the game. It's just dull when everybody takes it seriously. President rep and the people of JulMar salute you!

Friday, June 10, 2011 - 08:25 am Thanking you kindly, rep Good job on that save LU campaign post, by the way.

Friday, June 10, 2011 - 08:41 am Back at ya, mate. Just a little something to fill the "tweener" time while the game made it's second pass through the month. One of the things I believe people don't really pay attention to is the utilization chart. It really can tell you a lot about the econ situation. But don't let me get started! As you can tell I tend to write some LONG posts! Comes from my job, or what used to be my job before the extended bad economy here in the U.S.,and I got paid basically by the word, so if it can be said in five I'll take ten. :P Used to freelance for magazines, etc. focusing on history, international relations, and travel. Unfortunately that no longer pays the bills so I have a mundane job until (if?) the economy picks back up. 'Nuff said. BTW, what part of "down under" do you hail from? I've been in Sydney, had a good time. Occasionally drink an "oil can", although I admit to being a Guiness man for the most part. And a giveaway trivia question to finish this out: What ally of the U.S. is the only one to participate with the U.S. in every war they've been involved in since WWII? If you said Britain you'd be wrong, they didn't participate in Vietnam. The answer is Australia. So rightly or wrongly depending on your outlook on war, Australia sticks with their allies. And when BBJBS's nuclear winter arrives I'm moving in next door to you! We can have a barbie, I'll bring the steaks.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 - 06:17 am Bring some shrimp, we'll throw that on the barbie too :P Don't worry - hardly any of us actually speak like Crocodile Dundee :P I'm actually residing around Sydney at the moment, I used to live in the Blue Mountains (which is near Sydney). The Mountains are a beautiful place - look up "Echo Point Katoomba" or "Three Sisters" on google images :P

Sunday, June 12, 2011 - 08:29 pm One of my favourite coffees of the moment comes from the Toby Estate there. Wooloomooloo.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 - 08:51 pm Accordian, I know you guys don't REALLY talk like Croc Dundee, but had to "yank" your chain a little bit. We Americans tend to fall easily for stereotypes. Many people here think all Brits talk wth a cockney accent, and all Aussies dress in shorts and strange hats, running around having barbecues and drinking Foster's while calling everyone "mate". The Three Sisters is(are?) awesome! My brother worked for Viator (travel company headquartered in Australia)and lived in Sydney for a couple years. He took me out there when I visited him. Crafty, I'm going to have to see if I can get some of that coffee. Always on the lookout for new blends. As long as it's not the stuff that marsupials eat! Anything which has passed through an animals' digestive system is not for me! Have to run, thunderstorms just started and it's a guarantee in my area I'll lose electric.

Monday, June 13, 2011 - 03:03 am Wait, Crafty, you've been to Wooloomooloo? Intriguing - I thought you were either a Brit or a Yank. Rep, stop taking the piss. Next you're going to tell me that you guys don't all speak like hardcore Texans! :P The Three Sisters are awesome indeed. Did you know there's a rainforest up here? It's cool to think that there's a rainforest in this area where the temperature ranges from -5 to 15 Celsius in winter :P Toby Estate for the good coffee, eh? I'll have to visit it sometime. Mental note written. There must be thunderstorms in Little Upsilon, too - I've been losing electric for years.

Monday, June 13, 2011 - 05:10 am Actually we DO all talk like hardcore Texans!:P At least when there's a Republican in the White House. Today was a good day, power "only" went out for 4 hours. Keep telling myself I'm going to buy a generator but never get around to it. Rainforests are cool, but I prefer to see them on the nature channel. Large carnivorous animals, equally large snakes, and enough creepy crawlies to last five lifetimes are not my "cuppa". Had enough of those adventures when I wore Uncle Sam's camos. :P Thought you'd get me with the celsius instead of "real" temps, huh? Actually the -5 for a low surprised me a little, figured you might see single digits; didn't expect below freezing. Crafty isn't going to be thrilled at being accused of being a Yank! And I checked my local gourmet coffee shop and they don't stock the Wooloomooloo brand, darn it. T-storms on LU..., no I'd better not! LOL

Tuesday, June 14, 2011 - 04:31 am Our rainforest has all the nice nature with none of the massive animals...except maybe deadly spiders and snakes. But that's Australia for you! Were you saying you were in the army? In the jungle...are you a veteran of one of the wars in Asia? Crafty's the British one, then? Excellent. Let's pretend I never suggested he might have been one of the Yanks :P You say you keep losing power - whereabouts in the US are you? Are you in one of those states that's been getting ripped up by tornados/hurricanes/whatever this year?

Tuesday, June 14, 2011 - 06:17 am Australia does have some nasty spiders. I forget the name of it, but I think there's one whose venom is deadlier than the cobra. And also one of the world's deadliest snakes call Australia home. But it's still a kick butt country. Especially the girls! 'Nuff said. I was indeed in the Army, back in the dark ages of the '70s and '80s. After I graduated college I just got this wild hair and volunteered. Overall the experience was a positive. My jungle experience comes from a one week survival training course I took. We were given a map, a compass, a combat knife, a full canteen of water, water decontamination pills, and three meals worth of rations. They then dropped us in the middle of WTF ville and told us the coordinates they would meet us at in 7 days. Let me just say it was an adventure. No neat toys like GPS in those days, and they did a full inspection of our gear before dropping us to be sure we didn't sneak anything in. Cussed like, well, like a soldier, the whole 7 days, but we made it out. 20 some years later it seems like it was even fun. I live on the Eastern seaboard, about 150-200 miles inland, about midway between New York and DC. I live in a valley with hills (folks here call them mountains, LOL) on three sides, so am spared from tornados. Hurricanes can occasionally cause some bad flooding from the rain but we don't get a lot of wind damage. The problem arises from the fact that the electric lines run through the hills and the power company is very lax at keeping the trees cut back. So high winds or lightning will almost guarentee a tree or branch somewhere will fall on the lines. There are so few people here it "doesn't justify the cost" to keep the lines clear; cheaper just to send out an emergency repair team when needed. Along the same pattern, all our local transformers are circa 1950s, and repair parts just don't exist, so whenever there's a transformer blowout in a storm they have to actually either jury rig it or have a part specially manufactured. Two winters ago it was a little over three days before we got power restored after an ice storm. About 2/3 of my neighbors have generators, and I keep swearing I'm going to get one. One might ask why don't I move? One main reason is I'm cheap. The house is fully paid for, which with my current employment scene is a godsend. Also, I'm out in the country, but I'm 15 minutes away from a small city, 2 hours from Philadelphia, 3 from NYC or DC, and one hour from Baltimore. I can be at the beach in 2 hours. I don't like crowds 24/7, but I like the advantages the big cities provide. The biggest reason though is my girlfriend lives in that small city, and she has a bar in her basement with a refridgerator fully stocked with beer. Free beer every weekend. Why would I move? Okay, I'm rambling. Old age. What about yourself? Time for some Accordian stories! Been meaning to ask, is there any significance to the game name or is it just something you pulled out of a hat? Lastly, I won't tell Crafty if you don't :P.

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 04:03 am Many of the world's deadliest snakes, spiders, and other things call Australia home :P We have the Sydney Funnelweb Spider (one of the deadliest, found one in my room the other day). We have the Taipan, the King Brown, the Brown, the Tiger, and the Red-Bellied Black snakes (and all but the Taipan I have seen near my house). We have the box jellyfish, the bull shark, and the great white shark - you can even find bull sharks up in the Parramatta River near Sydney. Any significance to the game name? Ah, my name must be fascinating, because I always get asked this question. Long story short, I joined Kingdom of Loathing and, at the character selection screen, I saw a class named "Accordion Thief". I then saw a class called "Disco Bandit" which I decided was better. So I jokingly said to myself, "Accordion Thief? Accordion THIS!" before clicking on the Disco Bandit class :P And thence comes the name. Thanks for your silence on that, er, Crafty mistake. I'm not really ready to be taken under the wooden horse again yet :P

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 04:05 am What else are you curious about? :P

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 04:23 am How about the reference to the wooden horse? Gotta check on your FMUs.

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 06:04 am I know about Troy and all that, but I have a sneaky feeling that's not what your reference is. It's either an Aussie thing or an Anglo thing isn't it? It was the funnelweb I was thinking of. Do you any of the Momba species of snake? And I sincerely hope a "Disco Bandit" was one who removed disco from existence, rather than dancing to disco tunes while robbing the King's messengers! (battle cry of my generation, at least the sane ones: "disco sux!") I figured the "this" segment, I just had some crazy image of you and an evil accordion, so I had to ask!

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 10:08 am "Under the wooden horse" is kind of...well...I don't think I know precisely how to explain it, but it's sexual. No Mambas here, but we do have the Taipan :P Disco Bandits are totally into disco, and they dance, moxying to and fro, casting their disco hither and thither, beguiling, pickpocketing, and out-dancing their enemies :P And for the record, disco rocks :P Stayin' Alive is mankind's greatest achievement.

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 01:44 pm All Hail the Bee Gees! But Funkytown by Lipps, Inc. was mankind's greatest achievement. Dance off!

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 03:00 pm Funkytown as in "Won't you take me to, (sweet riff), funkytown!"? Because I think an Aussie band did it first, sorry :P

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 03:11 pm Yes, that funkytown. Which Aussie band? But the Lipps, Inc version is still sweet.

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 06:21 pm You both would get along famously with my girlfriend! One reason you'll never meet her! Disney World has an adults only section called Pleasure Island. Has nightclubs of every persuasion, and often live bands in several of them. EVERY time we go down to Florida I am required to accompany her into the disco club and dance at least one. How can you compare "stayin alive" or "funkytown" to "Stairway to Heaven" or "Misty Mountain Hop" by Led Zeppelin? Pah. :D Especially if you're into the fantasy thing, "Misty Mountain" is a cool song. One line goes (see if either of you two crazies can catch the reference) "In the darkest depths of Mordor there lived a girl so fair". And I've been forced to watch "Saturday Night Fever" so often I can probably give you the dialogue by heart. In my next life I will NOT become involved with a girl 10 years younger, I swear! I'll deny it if you tell Julie, but disco IS easier to dance to. That's as far as I'll go or I betray my generation! (At least the male segment thereof)

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 09:52 pm -RSFSR Build as much as you want because I need it.

Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 11:41 pm Thats funny, I always thought differently about you aussies. I imagined everyone throwing another shrimp on the barbie, drinking Fosters, listening to Men at Work, and throwing boomarangs at Kangaroos.lol I guess my face is probably red. I was wrong.

Friday, June 17, 2011 - 12:23 am Bless you Money Incorporated!! /me swoons

Friday, June 17, 2011 - 03:49 am J.Skullz you forgot that we ride wombats to work and hire kangaroo's to transport the kids to school in their pouches too !!! Accordian it was lips Inc that sang funkytown first .. pseudo echo covered it in the late 80's

Friday, June 17, 2011 - 04:36 am Disco is easier to live to. 'Nuff said. Skullz, I wish it were true. Life would be so much easier :P If it's any consolation, I do like me some Men At Work. Have you ever heard anything by Midnight Oil? Border C: naw. Don't worry - this situation is getting slowly but surely fixed. Eddie, thank you for correcting that grievous musical error of mine. Next time I have a conversation about Funkytown I can pretend I always knew it was done by Lipps Inc first :P

Friday, June 17, 2011 - 05:11 am On another note: I think it's time for me to stop building FMU corps for a while. I've been building 6 a month for a few years now :P

Friday, June 17, 2011 - 05:22 am Criminy! I'm surrounded by disco freaks and Aussies! Quick, where's my emergency stash of Stones, Aerosmith, and Zep? No wait, only the Doors will do. I...must...fight...this... Bunch of whackos!:P

Friday, June 17, 2011 - 10:47 pm Don't forget to throw some Pink Floyd in there as well

Friday, June 17, 2011 - 10:53 pm Yeah I heard of Midnight Oil. Can't seem to remember any songs off hand. Wombats to work, Thats awesome. I want a wombat. Is everyone there still trying to get the baby back from the dingo? And cut off jean shorts went out of style decades ago!:P DISCO SUX

Friday, June 17, 2011 - 11:55 pm There's more than that one reference to LOTR in Zep's work Rep. Great stuff for us old rockers. And yes, disco sucks, except for maybe 'Disco Duck'!

Saturday, June 18, 2011 - 01:55 am Ummagumma, Oh, yeah, Pink Floyd cranked. One thing I'll give the Brits top honors on and that's rock bands. Yes, the U.S had some good ones, so did Australia, but Britain hands down. Crafty, THANK YOU. Wasn't sure anyone would catch the Tolkein connection. And yes, the Zep is loaded with references. J. Skullz, LOL. Gotta disagree about one thing: cut off jean shorts on nubile young women NEVER go out of style! :D To the three of you, bless you. My faith in humankind has been restored! I can resist it now. ;)

Saturday, June 18, 2011 - 07:52 am Damn rep, I was talking about Aussie men. I concur completely. And Crafty my favorite band is a bunch of brits, The Clash. Oh yeah, Sabbath is awesome too.

Saturday, June 18, 2011 - 02:01 pm My award for top man in music probably goes to an American - Frank Zappa, He da man. Though if I'm being patriotic, The Jam and Paul Weller, no finer musician/lyricist alive.

Saturday, June 18, 2011 - 06:57 pm Zappa is unique, no doubt. The Clash and Sabbath, yes. And I'm saddened to say I'm going to show my provincialism and say that I don't know Paul Weller (/me winces). The Jam is decent. I begin to get an idea of y'alls taste in music. Since I threw out the "Southern boy" reference I'll just say that for "country rock" Lynard Skynard is hard to beat. When I was in Germany in the military their song "Free Bird" was immensely popular among the grunts. The "bird", of course, was the plane that would take you back home. That's the thing about rock. There are almost unlimited categories. Has anyone ever heard of "Acid disco" or "soft rap"? 'Nuff said!

Monday, June 20, 2011 - 04:26 am Hey, country rock. Come on. And I said it was the grunts' favorite. I was an NCO! In reality I run almost the entire gamut of musical tastes. The only "music" I honestly can't deal with is rap. Put a (c) in front of it as far as I'm concerned. And I'm not a huge opera fan, but even some of that is okay. And if you don't have any Barry White to "set the mood", classical works quite well. Rock rules, disco sux, but music is good overall! :D

Monday, June 20, 2011 - 04:33 am I would offer a spot, but after extended inactivity, I am trying to fix all thee stuff the automation broke.

Monday, June 20, 2011 - 08:09 am By the way Accordion, after you snag those GC in a week or so are your gonna share with your poor Yank cousins? :P I looked at the rankings. Won't jinx it by saying anything, but looks like those FMU are paying off! BTW, last time I looked, we might be down to needing 750 or so FMU corps. H----uva drop from 1250 couple days ago! It's just getting awful hard to read what's going on out there, the month to month changes don't make sense in some areas so I get the feeling we're getting some "magic dust" in the atmosphere. In fact, in another thread Tom said they had added water treatment and water maintenance to, I think, all worlds. Figures. I had a water maintenance corp that was banging and just built a water treatment corp. Price I can get for maintenance now is half what it was.

Monday, June 20, 2011 - 12:19 pm Only GC I'm getting this month is for reaching Game Level 9 sometime this week. I'm aiming for 1st, baby ;) 500 corps down? Awesome, I'll keep building, keep me posted :P And as for profitability, well, my finance index on Brutillius has hit 205, so I guess things are working out for me :P

Monday, June 20, 2011 - 04:24 pm Smart-a**! Congrats on your upcoming level bump. Is it 50 GC for every level, or does the value go up after Level 6 or 7? Only things keeping me from my Level 5 is needing more corps in the CEO, and a couple T more in cash. I'm doing it the tortoise way, slow and steady.

Monday, June 20, 2011 - 05:37 pm As am I :P Slow and steady wins the race, right? The awards go up around 6 or 7. My reward for getting to 9 will be 100GC.

Monday, June 20, 2011 - 06:44 pm Woo-woo! Something to look forward to in a couple hundred game years! Are you ineligible for a game GC award this month, then? If you're currently number two (unless I looked at the wrong rankings) that should net you something, no? "Rock" on!

Tuesday, June 21, 2011 - 07:00 am Being number two could net me something. Last month I was number 6, which nets you like 50 GCs, and this month I could accept an award for maybe up to 150 GCs. However, if I accept the award, my world rank drops, which prevents me from getting rank 1 the next month. Basically, my hope is that I catch up to Eden by the end of the month (unlikely) and steal rank 1, or he accepts rank 1 award, and I get it next month. I'd rather forgo a couple of awards if it means I can grab a spot on the security council.

Tuesday, June 21, 2011 - 04:35 pm Besides, being number two means you try harder! :P I agree that it looks difficult for overtaking JH at this stage. Other than having a say in aid requests, what are the benefits of being on the Sec. Council? Had to go away for half a day, and everything's in the toilet in my main. Two T down, just had to spend coinage to bring my cash back up, and will likely be here fixing things until I pass out from hunger! :D

Wednesday, June 22, 2011 - 12:30 am I'd rather have the 2-5 spots than the number one spot. There are no benefits to being part of the security council.

Wednesday, June 22, 2011 - 01:19 am The Security Council has about 500T it can give to countries willing and able to build vital corps. The SC could act to help LU's market situation, if it wanted to.

Wednesday, June 22, 2011 - 01:24 am That is a great Idea!

Wednesday, June 22, 2011 - 03:31 am Only to individuals who have less than 5T assets or some such limiter.

Wednesday, June 22, 2011 - 02:02 pm And are level 2 (maybe 3) and lower.... The Security Council is retarded. I posted something about it last month and people thought I was joking...

Wednesday, June 22, 2011 - 03:47 pm hm. Well, that sucks. Still, Hall of Fame! A meagre measure of power! It's King Hezekiah-endorsed!
|
