Buying defensive weapons will increase your Defense index. ALL weapons do increase your defense index, but it is only a proportion on the defensive, offensive and strategic index's

I'm not sure of the exact formula, i have seen a few different formula's, none of which i have found accurate in my own countries, but defensive weapons have a MUCH larger effect on the defence index than any other kind.

just buy MIBs to level up

230 gives you a point on your DEFENSIVE index.

The index moves slowly. If you buy 2000 MIBs this game month, it might take 4-5 game months for the index to reach the total points that the 2000 MIBs should give you. Same with all the other defensive weapons.

Defense index is 2x Defensive Force Index + Offensive Index + Strategic Index divided by 4

The Defense index has a HEAVY lag to it though.

Though David Hughes was asking about defensive force index. Best option is missile interceptor batteries, as coolwind said, 230 of them gives you a point, and as houston pointed out, it takes several game months to have an effect.

Q, i do not believe that formula works, i have tested it on countries that have not changed any army for several game years and it does not compute in either of them.

Yes apologies he is referring to DFI. MIB's are the cheapest, most efficient way to increase your DI, however they are pretty useless in a secured main, i've bought mostly Interceptors and Heli's in my main as these can be used in shared defences. This may not be of benefit to you now but may some day in the future, to you or your fed mates within defensive range.

DFI/2 + OFI/4 + SFI/4 is what you are looking for.

Yes i was trying it on the wrong 2 countries, forgot that i had deactivated a large chunk of military, hence formula didnt work.

Apologies David, the DFI does go up with defensive weapons, however as Q mentioned there is a delay in it raising the index.
