Ken Cooper (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, February 25, 2009 - 03:07 pm Greetings Citizens of Little Upsilon: We, the people and nation of Kennikoslavia, are looking for allies, friends, and partners who are also peaceful nations. The goverment of Kennikoslavia has set a course to have 0 Offensive Weapons within the next year. We are looking for fellow nations as ours to build a sustaining friendship and alliance with us. To spread peace and calm across the globe of Little Upsilon and to defend our homelands against those who would attempt to cause us harm. While our Offensive stand may sound weak - our defensive stance is much greater and will continue to grow in strength every month. We look forward to hearing from each of you and your thoughts and ideas on moving forward, united, and peaceful. |
ShcyzMattiCa (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, February 25, 2009 - 04:55 pm LMAO!! I hope you didn't settle on LU for peace. While there has been a lull in fighting due to GM actions as of late, flare ups are almost a given and span many continents as they quickly get out of control. I would like to be your friend as will many others I am sure. Little Upsilon is sure to continue as a hotbed of sim-violence for the foreseeable future IMO. LU has been called the "NewFB"as of late(FB is the w3c and community designated war world, but hasn't really kept up tradition from what I hear). Look forward to hearing you. If you really want to stay peaceful, I suggest joining a larger federation for defense and support. SNA,Valde,CFS Everyone else is pretty much going at it or will be sooner or later. |
Grayson301 (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 02:03 am Ken good luck with no offensive weapons. Wendys telling the Turth here and she usually does Speak her mind quite often. When her hormones are acting up(And they do often, for they are Fragile)She is one to Be in quite a War Zone. Sincerely, King Grayson301 of Toonsville |
Beast (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 02:06 am Hey Ken, Feel free to message me at 'Trivia Night.' You are welcome to join Seven Nation Army. We actively protect all of our members, have a large community, and can help you learn more about the game. Beast |
Zentrino (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 02:14 am You can offensive weapons and not use them for offense. They can be used in your defense as well. Just a thought.... Zen. |
Pathetic Sheep (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 06:24 am When the NAZIs built up the German army for WWII they started a large defensive network call the west wall. The presence of the west wall allowed them to concentrate forces first on Poland and then through the Arden forest in Belgium. Without the west wall the Germans would have been forced to commit troops to defend southern Germany against the French. The Blitz would have been likely to fizzle. Suppose I was your neighbor and I started piling sandbags around and under the windows facing your property. If I then walked around in a flak jacket, military helmet and assault vest would you be nervous? |
BorderC (Fearless Blue) | Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 03:22 pm Welcome to LU Ken. Just try to remember that war IS a part of the game. You may not be able to avoid it. The more you grow the juicier the target you become. A simple way to mitigate the threat of war is to follow EO's advice and join the Seven Nations Army Federation. It's made up of fine players. EO, Orbiter, Ok State and others in the fed are highly regarded and can, to some degree, protect you from the aggressors. BC |
Jack Frost (Kebir Blue) | Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 03:31 pm Or the alternative is significantly bigger and that would be the Valde Subsidium network. You can message me at Empire of Chaos and I will get an invite sent out to you. With Regards, Dragoon |
Beast (Golden Rainbow) | Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 07:26 pm Oh Jack, I would say significantly more experienced, but not significantly bigger Valde. Currently Seven Nation Army has a higher production total and about 5% less population than Valde. However, Seven Nation Army is still in the process of establishing itself as a reputable federation, and aspires to achieve the reputation that Valde has acquired. To do so though, we need to continue to gain more active, aspiring, and talented players. |
Jack Frost (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 08:47 pm Or you could merge with us and create a super fed... just saying lol. Ken In either fed you will have the oppertunity to learn quite a bit about the game. With Regards, Dragoon |
Beast (Fearless Blue) | Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 10:21 pm Hehe well that may be something that comes up down the line Mr. Frost, and could be something we're interested in. Time will tell. I agree with Jack though Ken, federations are great for helping you learn the game and keep you safe long enough to enjoy it. |
Zentrino (Little Upsilon) | Friday, February 27, 2009 - 12:45 am If SNA and Valde merge, who would be the competition? Do we have any anti-monopoly laws? Maybe Hezzy can do something about it in NLUO. |
ShcyzMattiCa (Little Upsilon) | Friday, February 27, 2009 - 02:15 am SOL is quickly passing Valde in all ranking categories take a look for yourself LOL. |
Jack Frost (Little Upsilon) | Friday, February 27, 2009 - 02:22 am Zentrino, If Valde and SNA were to merge then that would open up the room for even more feds to gather members and grow as a way to counter balance the merge. With Regards, Dragoon |
BorderC (Kebir Blue) | Friday, February 27, 2009 - 04:11 pm And what is the point of merging? So a "super fed" can have 300 fedmates that don't know or communicate with each other? Not that I have anything against Valde, but I don't see any reason why these two friendly feds need to merge... By the by, what ever happened to Priest????? I haven't seen him around in a while. BC |
Ken Cooper (Little Upsilon) | Friday, February 27, 2009 - 05:44 pm I've become addicted to SC... I'm already looking for rehab centers to eventually help me kick the habit! LOL I have found that having no offensive weapons is unavoidable. However, can anyone tell me how to best control the costs of such? It seems like even the smallest amount I buy hits my budget like an A-Bomb itself. I can buy Defensive weapons until the cows come home and the budget effect is minimal... Is this an objective of the game? Are offensive weapons so expensive as a way for GM to control (the lack) of war in certain worlds? For all of you who have made comment on this thread - I really appreciate your input, however (and just being honest) some of it is like Greek to me. I have become a full member because this game is perfect to take my mind off the woes of the real world - and right now I can really use a break from the norm. My guess is most players are in the same boat (well, those of us who are adults and have a "real world" life). I had created both a Federation and a Common Market which I invited my neighbors to join (none of them seem to be members of common markets - is this a "norm" also?) Should I, since I'm in them alone, close the feds and cm's? I see that there is a lot of opinions here about who I should align with or who I should not align with. I admit, I'm very confused about it all - I just keep building my defenses hoping for the best. Please message me within the game if you feel you have some information that might be able to enlighten this quasi-noobie Thanks all for the responses - its great having so much input from such a variety of sources!
