... has anyone else ever experienced this level of earthquake activity?

July 15 2543, a Light Earth Quake occurred in Hairy Hippy Land

January 10 2545, a Light Earth Quake occurred in Holy Hippy Land

June 15 2545, a Light Earth Quake occurred in Holiday Hippy Land

December 7 2545, a Large Earth Quake occurred in Army of Darkness. The Large Earth Quake was felt in Happy Hippy Land and Huggy Hippy Land as well.

May 25 2546, a Large Earth Quake occurred in Heavenly Hippy Land. The Large Earth Quake was felt in Hanky Panky Hippy Land and Hilly Hippy Land as well.

I have ten countries and eight of them experienced earthquake damage within nine RL days of each other. Seven of the eight are in a cluster, the other is over the other side of the planet.

I have always scorned conspiracy theories when it comes to earthquakes, but this does seem more than coincidence. Especially when I am only 20 DI points off level 6 and right on the edge for FI.

Please, someone tell me this has happened to them too ...

Hugs and respect

The earthquakes effect the nations next to the nation they actually hit as well. It kinda stinks to have your empire all bunched up. Look at it on the bright side.....you can send in tons of extra pop due to relief units. (Glass half full kinda guy)

About a month ago I had 4 or 5 countries struck with earthquakes within about a week or two and my empire is pretty well spread out. At the time I wasn't trying to level up so I also looked at it as a blessing.:)

I do wish you luck MoP, but I have to favour Ron, who is my fedmate and who you recently deposed.

But I know that Ron is going for level 6 over the top spot, as I did, and that takes a long time. Eventually, as you get near, everything comes into balance and the score goes up, but it takes a lot of frustration, sitting in the top 5 for a long time while you balance it all out.

I know Ron will get there in the end through sheer hard work and persistence ... and reap the GCs that come with it :)

So good luck for next month MoP, and good luck Ron in getting to level 6 and #1 ... soon :)

I will personally go door to door in the lower income areas of your nations and offer my construction services to rebuild the slums, crack houses, nude bars, and brothels. We can't have the local entertainment venues effected by these quakes remain damaged. The little people need their fun too.

Maybe you were on to something there Jo.

I wasn't struck quite as hard. However in the past week PN and PN 7 had earthquakes. They are on separate continents. If I get hit with any more I will really have to wonder if it isn't just a coincidence.

And to top it off. Has anyone noticed that they reduced the max disaster teams from 1200 - 200 WTF!!!

Now disasters aren't good for anything unless you want to sit there waiting for them to ship out and unpack them and start the whole process over again. A little too tedious for my taste:(

P.S. Actually scratch that I just tried to send a second wave and now the max is 100 this game just gets better by the second!!!

What is truly upsetting me more often these days are the "Unannounced" tweaks they are installing. If M.O.P.'s accusation is correct, then they made yet another change without announcing it in the forum or game news. All changes should be announced and preferably with some sort of warning that it will take place soon. Tom, this is only fair. This gentleman was caught with his pants down around his ankles by this game change while dealing with multiple earthquakes and trying to send relief supplies and units to cope with the damage. I think a better effort to notify all of us of game changes is in order if this change has truly occurred. I know for a fact that the limit used to be much, much higher on the number of units set up in relief reserves. Why the change, and why the change without an announcement?

Coincidence.

Honestly, one cannot expect the Gamemaster to just sit on a chair, look at one screen reading messages and looking at another, just distributing earthquakes like who gives rain.

Not talking about the earthquakes Laguna, I'm talking about the relief unit limits being lowered unannounced.

That post was for all those who think earthquakes intentionally hit someone.

Regarding the limits on relief units... Apply the same reason as for why the flights of Relief Units became restricted and we could arrange the reason why there's a lower limit on stocking up Relief Units. This is more of a possibility than fact, however.

Personally, I'm for the removal of Natural Disasters. They're benefit to the game ranges almost nothing.

If I can?... You people make with every question!

If you can't login in time to your nation to setup Relief Units to help you recover, get help!

The limit is only on the amount of Relief Units you can steup. It isn't limited in both time and amount. It isn't a limit regarding foreign help.

The only benefit that comes from Natural Disasters is their excuse to interact with others, but like that works...

Instead of attacking the hit of earthquakes and the limits regarding relief, go right to the root of the problem and request the removal of Natural Disasters from the game. Do I have to give that push or...

The one that really got me was the following message, when trying to recover from one of the earthquakes mentioned above...

"You have 100 Building Teams in stock. The maximum is 100."

"120.5 Building Teams needed once."

For me, not a problem as I was able to build and send teams in from other countries in my empire (despite the fact that most of them were suffering from earthquakes of their own). But what about the little guy with only one country?

It seems ridiculous that you cannot build as many disaster relief supplies as you need to recover.

Thanks for starting the poll, Wild.

The little guy with one country will have to build up some guts, swallow some pride, and ask for help on the forum or message someone - who will probably be in the "List most helpful countries" page.

For as much as I appreciate the good faith put behind Natural Disasters, it simply doesn't work. Even though, I see some sort of salvation for this feature, it really wouldn't benefit the game as whole. It would be a very nice way for a new player begin interacting with others in Simcountry, but we need to find other ways.

We really do need to start cutting some of the extra complexity and return to more simple and effective functions.

Laguna, in my experience, the top players on that list used to be the ones who were most exploiting the relief team loophole that has now been closed down. Perhaps now the list will consist of players who genuinely want to help others. However, I suspect the list is a lot shorter and that the little guy probably isn't aware it's there.

You should, at least be able to build the relief supplies you need ... always assuming you have enough spare workers, product stocks and cash ...

I never payed much attention to WG's "List most helpful countries" page. I'm not sure, but I do believe RobG would be the only one telling the newb to go screw himself and Perlamo would kept quiet. :p

The rest, would most likely help the newb. In fact, even RobG and Perlamo, depending upon their mood, would even help him... there's always that possibility.

But yes, every player should be able to recover from a earthquake on his own or not... But right now, I just want the removal of Natural Disasters from the game.

Earthquakes are taking place at random. we have reduced their frequency from what it was initially and also reduced their severity.

Three earthquakes in a game year is unusual but obviously possible.

There is no way to create one unless we are starting to patch bits and bytes somewhere in the database. we have no time for that.

Playing this for some time, you should realize that we are not on top of the forum all the time. We do not intervene unless there is a serious breach of our agreements.

In case we have to intervene, it does not include any patching of specific countries.

Tom, I spoke in jest about the conspiracy theory, but it's still worth noting that, while 3 earthquakes in a game may be "unusual but obviously possible", 5 in two game years is getting a wee bit silly ... Still, if you have reduced their frequency that has to be good, although I will add my voice to those who are asking for the feature to be removed altogether.

However, are you able to at least allow countries who have had one to build the supplies they need? It's not a lot to ask.

On a slightly different subject, but still referring to limits and auto-features in the game, I got the following message in my country newspaper today ...

"Government salaries in Hanky Panky Hippy Land are too low.
Weapons are moved to the reserves because government salaries are too low compared to the industry. "

Firstly I am glad to finally know why I am constantly having my weapons deactivated when I have sufficient staff for them and money to maintain them. It was frustrating not being able to work out why it was happening.

But I have to ask why is the game making me do this? I have plenty of workers for all my corps, army and amenities. I have a healthy FI and plenty of cash in my country. Why, oh why, do I have to raise my salaries?

YOU are the ones who insist I get to an FI of 130 to make level 7. Raising government salaries when I have a large army to maintain and there is no reason to, is hardly helping. Please get rid of the 'feature' or lower the FI requirement for levels 6 and 7.

I forgot to mention something right in the beginning of this thread.

Earthquakes are distributed randomly throughout every country in every world. Whether the country be active or inactive, old or new, small or big, the chances of being hit are the same.

I remember being affirmed that new players do not suffer earthquakes. From my experience, with all the collateral earthquake damage I've received from countries belonging to new players, I find that to be false.

But moving on to the reason why some players get hit by several earthquake throughout their empires at times:
Earthquakes lay sleeping until you log in, thus triggering it. As such, if you do not log in to your countries, they'll keep getting hit with earthquakes, but they'll only exert their consequences when you log in.

No one told me this. I noticed this after conquering a few inactives and personal experience with loads of natural disasters hitting my dormant empire. Just a case to observe, formulate an hypothesis and test it.

I'm under the impression I've already explained this a few times on the forum, but nevertheless... ~

Regarding the Government salaries in [country] are too low. newspaper messages, I'm not sure if weapons are actually being deactivated, but I think they aren't. But that's beyond the point. I can't believe this message shows up in countries that have their Gov Salaries on auto and when the deviation is less than 2% to the General Salary Index.
Seems like something to be fixed.

Well I set my gov salaries at 55% of my corp salaries and I was still getting the message. I reset to auto salaries and am in the process of lowering it back down to see where the trigger is.
