Thanks for the confidence boys, I did eventually pay off my debt. I would have liked some help though.

We do help those who help themselves though. You took the initiative to sell some assets to pay off the loans. Now let's see how you do. If you still are having problems, come chat me up in the chatroom and I can possibly give you some pointers.

Dan ... Alain is actually a pretty experienced player. I don't know why he got into debt, but I suspect it was something like RL getting in the way of having time to maintain your empire, or too many earthquakes ... :)

Alain ... well done for recovering. It is very rare these days for a vote for aid to get through general voting, even if the Security Council endorse it. In fact, I don't remember it happening ever since general voting came in. I suspect there is a jealousy factor among the majority :(

Hugs and respect

It has always been necessary the approval of the General Voting to pass any proposal, expect Forbidding Nuclear Attacks.

What changed was a component extremely important to any game or system: Information.

Although I ignored this major component when I proposed my reformation to the Security Council, I do support the introduction of messages warning the Councilmen when a proposal is initiated; and the messages sent to all players of a world, when a proposal is to be voted on General Voting.

What I do not agree with is that all players should vote. In fact, they could vote all they want, but the implications of such a vote would be non-biding, if it was up to me.

In my Security Council Reformation there were two vital changes that were not introduced. These were:
- The election of Council Members;
- The exclusion of Trial Members from the Assembly (General Voting).

The first one was quite important, because its purpose was to add a Political Dimension to the game. I was even developing a framework to enhance that aspect, but I then begun extending it... and never finished. ;p I'm still working on it, at another level.

The second was of extreme importance, vital to the organization. I knew that if it wasn't added, most proposals with the aim to help the community on an individual basis would be so complicated to pass, that it would stop most proposals, actually killing the Security Council.

In my first draft of the Security Council Reformation, I wrote a rather long and hateful post towards the minor of age Trial Members. I pointed, laughing boastfully and with scorn of their... natural flaws. I changed it a bit and this is what came out:

Quote:

After the boom Simcountry boom had a year ago, most of the players are underage. They aren't a problem for us, since we can simply ignore them and they cannot target our assets, but they are an obstacle to the Security Council normal execution.

To begin with, they aren't concerned about others, they only care about themselves. In this sense, they don't cooperate with others, so they tend to vote down all proposals.

In the same way people wish to join an Exclusive Club, simply because it is exclusive and will give them a sense of belonging, they want to join the Security Council. They don't want things to work properly; they just want to be in. When they can't join, they'll try all they can to disrupt its normal functioning.

Much more passive than the original version.

Besides that, I warned Jozi privately, on IRC, that most players did not have enough maturity to participate on the Security Council affairs... but it's easy to figure to what happened to that warning.

With the banishment of Trial Members not taking place, I wasn't the least bit surprised by the results of most proposals.

But even before that thread which triggered all the changes made to the Security Council some months ago, I wrote a poll called Timocracy & Security Council. I enjoyed the GM's comments on it. lol

Quote:

Timocracy & Security Council Status: Cannot be processed

But this is all rather amusing... It touches some principles... A summary of all changes introduced to Simcountry, this is. Makes one wonder, gives another confirmation.

I got into a huge debt fighting two wars simultaneously and before my economy was any stronger as I only had $2.5 Trillion in assets and the weapons absorbed that amount and left me in a 7 Trillion debt especially since the raids didn't go so hot and I was also experiment with the new war game and I wasn't efficient at it, still not that efficient at it. but now I am up to $11.5 Trillion in assets and going up. The next time I go on to a raid, I will at least have $30.0 Trillion in assets.
