neutralsc | Tuesday, November 2, 2021 - 05:00 pm Hi all, Most 2T aid proposals get through but a quick look seems to indicate that its often with just a 3:2 majority. I too do sometimes vote against proposals. For example when financials shows negative cash of more than 2T, a deficit of 20B monthly, a defense expense of 30B monthly, while being below WL3, what is the purpose of giving them a onetime cash injection of 2T? Not only is it just pointless, but it is actually also a missed opportunity, because if tweaking the financials would lead to a monthly surplus, they would be able to actually use the aid instead letting it get burned with the unresolved deficits. Requirements should be attached to giving cash aid. This is what the IMF does to in real life too and for good reasons. And the community as a whole would grow as well because players with better financials would be better competitors / more activity which would benefit the sustainability of the game as a whole. It would be a win-win. Unfortunately I lack the required brain thrust to come up with a concrete detailed plan, so my question to you all is, how can we implement such a policy in an effective way. Or do you disagree or even better ideas? What are they and why? Thanks for reading. |
Jiggle Billy | Tuesday, November 2, 2021 - 05:22 pm The WGA fed does attempt to do this. Due to the amount of time the voting rounds take we propose aid while inviting them to our embassy discord to help teach them how things work and provide guidance. Sadly not everyone follows our advice. We currently have a very active newer player regularly asking for advice and getting their finances straightened out. If the voting rounds were faster we would be more open to guidance first and aid after. I think a key part the GM could do to help this is set it up so players must accept possible aid before voting starts and if they do all secrecy is removed making it easier for others to guide them and determine how they'd prefer to vote. |
JOEL | Thursday, November 4, 2021 - 01:24 pm Neutralsc, I get where your coming from and I understand your concern. I do believe it's in the best interest for newer players to get on the WGA discord server and ask questions and learn how to play the game. Although many players figure out how to play for themselves it's important to get help when offered. Many of us here has witnessed Empires come and go because of financial instability. The WGA offers help to all players who are willing to learn even those players we have had disagreements with in the past are welcomed to our discord https://discord.gg/YpQrjmbr Putting stipulations on funds from the SC would mostly likely result in newer players leaving the game at a quicker pace which I never want. The goal is to make White Giant more active and the WGA encourages other federations in White Giant to also extend help to new players. The WGA and the Syndicate alone doesn't hold this responsibility there are plenty of players on WG hording valuable knowledge. |
neutralsc | Friday, November 5, 2021 - 02:15 pm If the GM could make this happen: we could actually doing it by giving the SC members the ability to give additional aid to a max limit (only 2 members have to approve for example). If they would only approve when advice was followed, financials had improved or just because they want to because it would make sense, it would simplify a lot. Risk for abuse is rather low, because getting in the aid program at all would still require the current voting rounds. Unfortunately this isn't the case currently so thanks for replying and clarifying. |
