I've returned back to SC after quite a few years and am looking for some guidance on handling my economy (military will come later) as well as trying to grasp the whole space concept (it was but a topic being dreamed up when I was last on). My country is called The Democratic Union of Kataro and is currently open for all to do a peek-a-boo at. I'm working at making the country more CEO investment friendly and that's where I need guidance / advice. I'd like to get my economy solidly built before I raid some C3's. Any advice / help would be appreciated.

Took a peek. Overall looks good so far. A few things I would suggest.

1. Reacquaint yourself with the welfare index calculation. The formula is in the docs under Game Features ->indexes. You have the opportunity to save a few bucks in transportation, health, and social right now without adverse effect.

2. You might want to readjust some of your corps. A few don't tend to be stable winners. I would keep an eye on the market situation for hospitals and road/train maintenance.

3. You have a pile of weapons you may not need for quite some time. This is an expense both in upkeep and lost manpower that might be better focused into another corp or two. In particular, your country should be safe in secured mode for some time.

Consider selling off the unneeded weapons (hold unto ammo if you wish) other than what you might need for raiding (which should be your first need for weapons). Check out my "Path of a Warrior" guide, on the Beginners Forum, that shows how to accumulate wealth from raiding and also links to my C3 guide that will outline which weapons to hold unto.

4. If premium, check out my Game Level guide on the Beginner's Forum. It can allow you to focus on rewards that can give you a big boost in the early game.

Hi Aries - Thanks for the reply there, much appreciated.

I decided to try and get the transportation, education, and health indexes up as high as I could before waging any kind of war. I remembered enough to know that I needed to have a good amount of back-to-work schools and special clinics to help with work force demands.

As for the corps, most are what were there when I took over the country. I opened a few but only the Defensive missile corp remains. I'm hoping to get a few CEO's to invest in the country and either take over some of those corps or request their closure so they can open a corp or 2 up.

As for weapons, I'm slowly working on trying to get the indexes up as I do intend on raiding the 2 empty C3's near me. I won't bother coming out of secured mode though till I get into a good federation (and by good, I mean with more than 1 active player) so defensive forces will be built up slowly (with most of that being ammo).

Currently premium so I'll check out your leveling guide but I won't go to far there as time wise, I don't have enough time to devote to running an enterprise and a few countries. It's gotta be one or the other, so countries it is.

Careful with health index. Usually, that is the index I advise to plan a level that balances the need for welfare index with the danger of an aging population. I recommend 120 in most cases as that balance. Then form the other indexes around them to get welfare index most cost-efficiently.

Remember that back-to-work schools and special clinics require CEO corps to be effective. If you have no CEO workforce, you won't be able to retrain any of the disabled/housewives. You may want to make a post asking for enterprise CEOs to give you corps. (I have an ent that could use places to put a few corps, and if your welfare index is that high, I'd be happy to base them there.)

@Aries - At present I'm not boosting the health index any higher. If I do add more hospitals, it'll only to turn those into war hospitals as I prepare for my first C3 raid.

@ Al Sadius - as of 2105 3/13/ - my welfare index is 127.18 and I'm assuming that's good. I have the typical existing corps which are free for purchase or to be closed should that make it easier for a CEO to move in.

So I added about 6m peeps to my country and I've noticed my welfare index took a hit. How do I go about getting it moving back upwards again as opposed to taking a nose dive?

As your pop grows, your need for schools/hospitals/etc. also grows. Make sure you build more to keep up with it.

Yea, just noticed that my education and health indexes took a hit so I'm working on correcting both of those. Hopefully I'll get my welfare index back up.

Space Centers - is there a great need to put one down as soon as possible or is that something I can postpone till later?

Also, are there no nuke weapons on this world? I'm gonna cry if I put myself on a planet where nukes never get dropped.

SCs are good if you're going for monthly awards(they're 200 free points), but otherwise they don't do much early on.

Nukes cannot be produced on WG, but they can be imported from space and used.

Is there any need for more than one SC? Does having more than one allow me to move more goods around?
