John West | Monday, November 7, 2016 - 06:30 am I've had trouble resupplying units (approx. a couple hundred altogether) between continents (within transport plane range). I have tried to figure out the best way to go about it. I have set up a depot and an airfield, and I have even tried airlifting supply units over there. The units do not take much time at all to lose fuel, and so then cannot be airlifted back home (yes I have tried supplying them with air drops, which do drop supplies but the units never become resupplied??). I must be missing something .. . and yes I have checked and I seem to have plenty of trucks. I have quite a lot of supply units as well. I am only running into supply issues when I send units to another continent (I do not have any supply issues on the same continent as the leader country from which the units originated from). Objective: To supply both air and ground units that have been airlifted to a slave county on another continent (within transport plane range). Solution: ?? It seems to me that this is not possible and the only effective way to have prolonged deployment of forces is only through a slave country on that particular continent, meaning I'd have to build a military presence in a slave country on each continent where I may choose to strike. Does anybody understand how to go about supplying units intercontinentally? |
Zentrino | Monday, November 7, 2016 - 07:43 am I have found it impossible as well. They remain unsupplied no matter what I do. |
Letsie | Monday, November 7, 2016 - 10:32 am Ok that seems rather annoying. I don't have any wars gonig on, on another continent right now. Give me a few days to test some things so that I can see if I can help. I know that it used to be possible in the past. |
John West | Tuesday, November 8, 2016 - 08:27 pm The units are stranded and cannot be airlifted back home or dismantled, because I cannot figure out how to get them resupplied (across a sea). . . It's actually about 300 units, which are now completely worthless to me. I suppose I have no choice but to allow my country to go into negative cash and hope that the units are automatically dismantled. . . so that the weapons can be moved to a country on that particular continent and units recreated there. . . . . (not sure if negative cash will auto dismantle units that cannot be manually dismantled??) I am afraid these units cannot be returned to their home country and I will be stuck with maintenance bills forever on units that cannot be used. Is there anybody here with a deeper knowledge of the mechanics of the supply system that knows how I can resolve this issue? Note: I just found that I was able to send ground units to 'return' to base (I assume all ground units are amphibious and will drive thru the water??), yet air units do not have that option. How can I retrieve the air units?? What is more curious to me is how could I supply them overseas? I would appreciate if somebody knowledgeable of this would share the answer to either of these questions. . . .. . . . . .interestingly .. . . .yes. . the ground units are. . . . . driving thru the sea .. . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . |
Zentrino | Tuesday, November 8, 2016 - 09:48 pm I had 10 air base construction units stuck in a country since early this summer. Nothing ever worked and I just figured I would have them forever. I also let my country go into negative cash hoping they would disband and it did not happen. I actually just checked and they have finally resupplied and returned home. I have no idea when it happened though. I stopped looking after about 2 real life months. |
Roving EYE | Tuesday, November 8, 2016 - 10:43 pm @mr john west what world and what is the country called? |
Theinventor1012 | Tuesday, November 8, 2016 - 11:36 pm I also have this problem to, I just need some way to dismantle them and get the bombers and fighters, I just need someway to get them back home some how. |
Roving EYE | Thursday, November 10, 2016 - 01:04 am @ Whomever wants to listen, we did some testing it seems for us at least the supply issues does indeed work as it should as far as we can tell. Certain supplies( ie: gasoline, military supplies etc) do indeed get supplied if your overseas of sorts, weapon systems didn't get supplied until we chose air drops. We found increasing air transport units as well as having all the required products needed and supply units and mobile supply units as well as a few extra air transport units in all countries helped but mostly we found if you increase the capacity of the overseas depots by storing greater amounts of products allowed supply issues act as they should by supplying whatever needs supplying. our testing isn't perfect but hey were chiwoo! And if you still find it don't work sing a ditty and fret a lot we do this most of the time haha |
Letsie | Thursday, November 10, 2016 - 06:41 am As I said earlier I wanted to do some testing. Here are my results. I declared on a c3 7000 Units away war level 4 (acros a sea) I airlifted the following with 7 air transport units: 4 special forces units 2 battalions of 500 tanks 5 suply units 6 air and attack and bombing wings After a few months I increased my air transport wings to 17. I moved my battallions around, had them fight and suffer damage. I attacked several targets with my air wings in the country and made sure they were all damaged. At 7000 units away 1 trip takes well over 30 minutes with my air transports so I took my time and waited a few hours. When I returned they were all fully suplied again. I then decided that I wanted to recall my air wings while the war was still active. My air trainsports flew them back just fine. Here are some things I noticed: It took time for suplies to be flown in. Things went a lot faster when I increased the number of air transport units. Some of my suply units on the ground did run out of suplies a few times. But then another one drove to them and suplied them. I'm sorry that I can't help you but to me at least the system seems to be working. Can't you just take over whatever country those units are in? Or take over a c3 close to it so that they can move there. You can then disband them and get rid of the c3 after you've got your units back. |
Zentrino | Thursday, November 10, 2016 - 07:29 pm Did you create remote depots or air base construction units? That's the part I am talking about. |
Letsie | Saturday, November 12, 2016 - 07:25 am First i build an airbase in the enemies country and then a remote depot in the same country. |
Aries | Saturday, November 12, 2016 - 07:54 am There are some real problems with supplying distant units while a country is considered "at war" in my opinion. I would be curious for you to test keeping distant defense helicopter and interceptor wings in the future. Consider a scenario where your country is "at war" but you wish to support your federation ally, or simply another country in your empire, with a few dozen wings. For purposes of the test, declare war on a c3, keep the war active by conducting periodic attacks, and send defense wings to a different country in your empire. In my experience, I have found no reliable tactic to keep such wings supplied. I have reported the problem several times in the past but the issue required keeping a war active long enough for the gamemaster to check in and detect the problem and I didn't have the patience for a proper test and let it be. I received this response from the GM in 12-2013: "Hi xxxxx, For a country far away, you need a remote depot to resupply units there. You can use the airport of a federation member but not the supplies of the fed member. When not in war, the units are resupplied automatically but during war you need supply units and remote depots to do this. Maybe that is why they had shortages? Because you were in war? Unfortunately the war was quite some time ago and I cannot check anymore why it did not expire. If it happens again, please let us know and we will try to have a look immediately. Regards, The gamemaster." and again in early 2014 " Hi xxxxx, The airwings of CC9 in Camp Victory should indeed be replenished by supply units of CC9. Unfortunately we can no longer see why the wings were not replenished now that the war has ended. Please let us know when the problem shows again. We will try to have a look immediately. Thanks! The gamemaster." Note: I still control CC9 and Camp Victory and you can see that these countries are not on the same continent. Supply units should be able to supply distant wings controlled by the same country without the need of remote depots or air transports in this situation. I have developed tactics to compensate for this in wars in the past but believe it to be a real problem. To be honest, a more experienced player like myself who is aware of the issue is better prepared for it but could wreak real havoc for an unprepared player's plans. This is an issue that could use real attention but has not seen much focus due to the overall decay to the state of the actual player wars. |
Theinventor1012 | Sunday, November 13, 2016 - 11:20 pm I tried building plenty of supply units and air transport units, but still nothing. Aren't getting any supplies, this is probably diffently a game error hen, because my units in my country are doing fine but no those stationed in other countries. I even tried air dropping supplies in but that didn't work either, I guess my units are stranded permanently. Because I can't even dismantle or air left them back. I don't think I can even destroy them. |
Roving EYE | Monday, November 14, 2016 - 01:30 am TRUCKS trucks TRUCKS TRUCKS trucks TRUCKS and more trucks unless you want units stranded permanently. TRUCKS! FLAMING TRUCKS trucks WTF |
Roving EYE | Monday, November 14, 2016 - 01:35 am really we need a shit but I'm or we are speaking outa loud , this is it the bottom of the barrel , hey is it time for us to change our underwear? SHITE N..................G ourseleves really apology's DRINKS anyone?! |
Roving EYE | Tuesday, November 15, 2016 - 01:05 am Right we have been testing things, at first glance suppling stuff overseas seems to work... then it stops, then it works, then it stops, something here isn't working as it should. The supplying of products namely gasoline, aircraft fuel military supplies seems to get supplied if the system can be bothered its intermittened its not working as it should. The supply of weapons and ammo is even more horendus doesn't seem to work at all as intended flicking back and forth between ground supply or air drops nothing helps no matter how many air transports, supply units normal or mobile you have in whatever country. the other things we noticed is when you try to create depots direct into a country something stops windows pop ups even when the pop up blocker is off, plus you cannot choose a airport from the list or even type a airport into the box so you have to ask if there is a problem with units being supplied 100% as they should, how the heck do you hope now or in the future players doing war pvp? If the supplying of products doesn't have any bugs and is working as it should can the gamemasters inform the simcountry community what is the situation so they can solve their end namely the players side! please! so many bugs , we like bugs but I'm getting too old looking for em! I need rest! |
John West | Thursday, December 1, 2016 - 09:10 am Thank you to all that have tried to assist in resolving this unusual issue, as well thanks Roving EYE for being amusing as usual. I have much I could say in regards to all that has been said here, but to summarize my thoughts, I can basically just say that dealing with this particular issue is. . . . frustrating. I have tried many things based on the advice here and have given up on attempting to resupply these stranded air units. To those of you who were able to resupply your units and get them out of there, I think that you have probably somehow lucked out and recommend to not make a habit of stationing units overseas. |
