karat | Monday, August 8, 2016 - 04:54 am Can you start as an Enterprise as a new player? If so, how? The signup page seems to only allow countries. |
SeizeForce | Monday, August 8, 2016 - 05:33 am I believe you can cancel the country you have and then opt for an enterprise instead. I must warn you. Enterprise is very boring. |
karat | Monday, August 8, 2016 - 07:47 am How? |
karat | Monday, August 8, 2016 - 11:07 pm I think I figured it out. The game really seems to be designed such that an enterprise complements a country rather than being something that plays well on its own. |
SeizeForce | Tuesday, August 9, 2016 - 01:32 am Not just that but you can play like an enterprise by making a country very profitable. The most profitable biggest enterprise would never be as influential as the most strongest country in a certain world. It's like comparing the biggest company in the world (Walmart) vs. the strongest country in the world (USA). Which one would you rather have control of? With a country, you could have the economic power and also have the military power. Also, if I recall correctly there are limits on the number of corps a CEO could have. |
Zen | Tuesday, August 9, 2016 - 08:01 am An enterprise is more of an infinite warehouse to store products in. Mostly military assets. Other than that an enterprise serves good purposes to those who have a country as well. Having your own enterprise corporations in your country from foreign enterprises gives you the "I'll do what I want with my economy" option. You can set the salary of those corporations and you can set tax as high as you want without anyone moving out. If you do want to start an enterprise with a country or not you should build as many corporations as it can hold eventually. Simply because of profitability. Once an enterprise hits its corporation build limit you can gain more corporations by buying majority shares of public corporations. However you can not manage money in public corporations. Which is why in general public corporations are bad for a enterprise unless that public corporation is in a country owned by the same player as the enterprise. I learned that through a year of playing. The only thing going public does for an enterprise is give it a quick boost of cash, but the profit towards the enterprise will go down and in the end it's not worth it. Enterprises can effect the market if the player decides to build lots of the same corporations and has a lot of assets to waste.( it's not a waste if they're on a mission or have a specific goal )Imagine there only being 150 airforce maintenance corporations in your world and you own 110 of them. You can easily bring the cost of airforce maintenance down or up within the world market. That is unless the world is so short on it that you're just a large supplier. My new enterprise on Fb is set up that way. I plan to have 200 precision bomb and 200 laser guided bomb corporations in it eventually. Which is around a tenth of the FB market. Still a very high number. If I could have unlimited it would be 1000 laser guided bomb corporations. Simply because I have the assets to do what I want. A lot of dumps as I call it or sudden supply boosts in the world market is the result of an enterprise contracting production to itself, then when it wants it can dump its products on the market. This can be used as a way of economic warfare but no player has the assets to be able to do that on a scale large enough to really hurt another players corporations. People who complain about the corp limits need to stop because they're the same people who want to control the market in the end, and monopoly isnt a good thing. |
karat | Tuesday, August 9, 2016 - 03:03 pm So, I've been reading the Church of Simcountry guide. I keep seeing that you can store military assets for free in corporations, but I don't completely understand. Is this for offensive weapons, such that you don't need to buy upkeep? |
Andy | Tuesday, August 9, 2016 - 04:08 pm Not in corporations. corporations can keep some unsold products and some, producing maintenance products could hold some stocks of weapons that are used in the production process. Enterprises however, can have weapons, ammo and any other product stored. They can trade with the countries in the account (same world) and can trade on the market. They have no maintenance cost (cost of training the army) for these weapons. also, storing any products on space stations is possible too. |
