jdlech | Wednesday, November 25, 2015 - 08:02 pm I cant find what I'm looking for on any board, even with the keyword search. So I'm posting my question here. I have a nuclear power company and I know how to contract the power to my countries. I know that it is added to the electric power my countries have available. The problem is, I can't figure out how to contract it from my governments to my companies. I know I can sell it to them on a one time basis, but I want to contract it. Can I contract from Govt. to corporation, and if so, how? |
jdlech | Wednesday, November 25, 2015 - 08:09 pm NM, I figured it out. |
jdlech | Wednesday, December 2, 2015 - 07:56 am Kinda sad that the game handles nuclear power differently than in the documentation. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to contract power from my country to my companies. But once I contracted directly from company to company, everything worked out. It just doesn't show as contracted power on the local and common market. That's part of what had me confused. Also. Can anyone tell me how (if) I can sell supply materials a company has? Lets say the company has way too many bricks and I want them to sell most of them. How do I do that? Can I do that? |
Sunnyknight | Wednesday, December 2, 2015 - 04:59 pm The only thing i do with nuclear power is buy it, and sell as electric. You can make trillions of profit just doing this. Scenario:- Nuclear power - 50,000,000 @ 18,000 x 3.3 (330 quality) = 59,000 x 50,000,000 = 2.95T. Nuclear power auto converts to electric, and sells at electric price. So.... Electric power - 50,000,000 @ 31,000 x 3.3 (330 quality remember) = 102,000 x 50,000,000 = 5.1T. You just made a profit of 2.2T |
jdlech | Wednesday, December 2, 2015 - 10:15 pm Great advice. I now realize how much of a gold mine my nuke company is. |
Wolfgang | Saturday, December 5, 2015 - 11:36 pm Wait, nuclear power can be sold as electric? How do I do this? I thought nuclear power was just another item to be sold that was used by a higher level corporation I can't get lol. Can you do this on the open Market or does it require contracts? As it is now I have a few Nuclear Power corporations but they're not very profitable selling to the Market. |
jdlech | Sunday, December 6, 2015 - 02:59 am I'm also having a tough time keeping mine profitable. I fail most months. All you have to do is either sell it to your nation directly, or contract it to your corporations. But you can't put it on your local or common market (or at least, I couldn't). It remains nuclear power if you do, and no companies will buy it. But if you contract it to your govt., or to your companies directly, it will automatically convert over to regular power. (here's the odd part - it's providing power to half my companies, but it doesn't show up as a local or common market item) There's honestly no point in putting any nuke power on the international market because the rates are lower than electric power. I have it distributed to my companies by contract so each one enjoys the lower rate - and are more profitable that way. But as SunnyKnight mentioned, you can sell it all to your country, it gets automatically converted, and then your country can sell it as electric power and take all the profit. Start from the corporation page, click on "Products Offered", then click on "View Corporation Contracts", then click on whichever of the two options you want. The second one is for contracting to specific corporations. And, of course, you have to accept the contract(s). Just selling it all to your nation is easier. Either way, you make out. |
Sunnyknight | Tuesday, December 8, 2015 - 04:10 am I don't make nuke corps. I just buy the nuke power... much less hassle and you could use those workers on better corps. EDIT: Wolfgang, you just buy nuclear power and it AUTO converts once purchased to electric power. WARNING WARNING WARNING When you purchase nuclear power, and it auto converts, it adds directly to your country stock. If your country stock when purchasing the nuclear power is... say 120... and you purchase at 330, it'll lower it to 250 for example, making it pointless in purchasing. Ensure when you purchase, you're on a low amount of electric power (say, 100,000 or 200,000), that way, when buying 30,000,000 nuclear power, it won't have a HUGE affect. Very sorry if i forgot to mention this before... |
jdlech | Tuesday, December 8, 2015 - 11:45 am I inherited the nuke plant when I picked the country. |
Wolfgang | Sunday, December 13, 2015 - 07:18 pm Thanks Sunny. I already knew that when buying an item it just averages the quality. Learned that the hard way with weapons. I basically sold all my low level stuff before buying high quality stuff. Was wondering about those nuke plants. I couldn't find a company that bought it lol. Changes how I use them now. |
Sunnyknight | Sunday, December 13, 2015 - 07:27 pm Most welcome A lot of people wouldn't have told anyone this Nice way to make quick profits |
Wolfgang | Saturday, December 19, 2015 - 06:45 am I took one of my nuke plants & contracted its total output to my country. It still can't make a profit. 200 quality & 200 efficiency buying 200 quality supplies & selling 100% of what it makes and no profit? Looks like I'm closing & just buying off the market. |
Madoff | Saturday, December 19, 2015 - 05:27 pm Profits require the market price to be higher than the base price. On LU the base price for nuclear energy is 18,000 and the market price is 17,641. You could check the prices on your world. On your Trade page, click to buy a product to see its market price and base price. The base price for nuclear energy has been set too high. That means that they're condemned to be unprofitable or marginally profitable. On the bright side, they employ lots of high-wage engineers who pay your country lots of citizen taxes. |
Sunnyknight | Saturday, December 19, 2015 - 07:28 pm Wolfgang, i have said before, it's never feasible to open a nuclear corp. Well, not in my eyes anyway. It's simpler to do as i stated above, i'm yielding about 1.4 - 2t profit a month just from nuclear orders lol |
jdlech | Sunday, December 20, 2015 - 02:11 pm Sunny's right. I inherited a nuclear corp. when I started playing. It's now a fully upgraded state corp operating at 121% production and producing @250 quality. Even then, it only generated $70M in profits last month. Although, by converting the power to regular electricity and selling it, I could generate $1.14B in profits. A young nuclear power company is going to be a loss leader - and its low quality is not going to be worth much even after converting it to electricity. Whatever money you make in the conversion is going to be lost (and then some) in the company's dismal performance. Part of the problem is that countries only have one 'pool' from which to sell and to consume. As soon as your country buys your nuclear power, it mixes with your country's electric 'pool' and the quality averages out. This is the same 'pool' that supplies your country's energy needs. It makes great sense to consume low Q electricity and sell high Q electricity. But you only have one pool. It all gets mixed together. So, your state ends up consuming electricity at a wastefully high Q, and/or selling it at a lower Q; both being wasteful. You can contract low Q nuke power to your companies directly. But that's just a complex way of subsidizing your companies. Your govt. will have to keep the nuke power company on life support while it makes your companies more profitable. Worse, it's keeping all those worker busy producing a loss when they could be busy generating a profit. Even worse, if you upgrade your nuclear pwr. company, the higher Q will cut your nuclear power's losses, at the expense of your other company's profits (they have to pay for the higher Q electricity) This would only make sense if you're already a rich country trying to make a few of your companies more profitable - by not allowing your nuke pwr co. to upgrade product quality. Used this way, nuclear power companies are like the proverbial white elephant. Correct me if I'm wrong, Sunny, but can an enterprise keep an electricity 'pool' separate from any country? So if a premium player had both a country and an enterprise, he could maintain two pools - one for national consumption and one for sale? If I'm right, then maximizing profits from owning nuclear power company is something only a premium player could pull off. |
odssstudents1 | Sunday, December 20, 2015 - 02:29 pm JD: Yes, enterprises have their own pools. Building nuke corps in an enterprise and selling it as electric is a decent way to make a buck. You'll never be able to IPO it, but other than that, it's not a bad gig. |
