Hi everyone. I'm new here, so still learning the game. I have a first step to learn. I can't open new corporations because I don't have many High tech engineers but I have a lot of low cost workers. How can I increase the number of high tech engineers and decrease the low cost workers? Shoud I build more universities? Thank you.

Hi and welcome to Simcountry, Francesco!

You can go about this essentially two ways:
1. In the education screen:

a. Adjust your education priorities to give HTEngineers a higher relative priority. Pretend the sum of all priorities needs to be 120, so adjust everything accordingly.

b. Increase your education index to produce more skilled workers.

This index is essentially the min of the three sub-indeces. To be efficient you should build Schools, High Schools and Universities harmoniously.

2. In the employment screen:

You can exchange workers with another country. You can give them some of your workers in exchange for HTEngineers.

If you are on Kebir Blue, feel free to send me an exchange offer to my country of Trantor.

.Well said Laguna, I can only add that a higher number than 120 confers a finer level of control

Is it just me or is there some form of education issue that's going around??
I have seen several countries with more than enough workers but the corps are not hiring and i got a weird drop in employed people with the same amount of open job's in my country.....what's going on??
Has there been some form of education change in the code/game or what?

No changes in education.
No changes in the code.

Changes in the work force happen a lot.
every change in the number of schools, universities, hospitals and changes in the army, results in more or less workers available for work in corporations.

If you want us to look into it, make sure you tell us the name of the world and country where you have the problem.

Well something happened because I'm seeing this too. It's nothing beyond what a good education index, and a little worker exchange can handle. But, I've definitely had to rearrange my edu priorities in all my countries.

A think it's widespread too, as there has been an uptick in chatter about worker exchange and worker shortages on the chat too.

Please Andy double check this.
I'm having troubles with Executives in all my countries in the last few days.
Been trying to fix it playing with the education values but it seems to be another reason.
My main country in WG has 186 Education and this is the first time something like this happens to me.

Andy please look at this matter - it is spoiling the game.
Issue: there is ever increasing demand for workers, education priority doesnt seem to handle.
It wasn’t like this before. Something has changed centrally.

I suffer from the same issue. I think it started at the same time I lost the log-in bonuses actually. I'm not sure if they are related, but this does remind me that when it was introduced one of the beginners' bonuses was an adjustment to make it easier to produce jobs in need.

Right now, the education system feels exactly as it did 20 years ago to me. I feel the pressure to build the education index to 200 like everyone did back then, and to keep an eye on it, lest everything unravel.

Hmmm, that's odd then.
In Golden Rainbow, both in my own country and in alot of other countries both AI controlled and player controlled i see the same thing.
And yes, i agree, changes in the wokforce is normal, but not about 5 mill layoffs in one month....give or take a few 100K people.
In my own country i have not changed anything for a while priority wise, and i was finally about to start open a corp or two again, then suddenly mass layoffs....for no reason at all.
Death Reaper Empire is my country....although i doubt you'll find anything other than some really odd employment numbers.
On my end i have not done anything to my coprs or country policy wise at all.
So this is something out of the blue from my end.
I run a enterprise too, and i noticed it world wide then when i was about to open more corps.
I always check on my corps and they're productivity and i saw about 10 or so had fallen down so i took a look at the countries the were in and that's when i saw this issue.
It's now slowly sorting it's self out, but it's taking many days and will be taking about a week more before it's sorted it's self out in my country.
I don't care about the later.
But the reason for it happening in the first place...that's more interesting and crucial.
