Eeeee OOOooo | Friday, October 20, 2023 - 09:44 pm Very interesting post. Hard to disagree with the examples given here. |
Andy | Saturday, October 21, 2023 - 08:19 am We are open to all opinions and constructive criticism. We are not open to threats. You do not like our decision on wind farms. we heard. I also explained and answered the questions. but this is how wind farms work and they sell their electric power without quality considerations, like many other products in Simcountry. quality makes sense in some cases, not in all cases.

Well, he was right about one thing, you've been doing this for 20 years, I bet you could use a break. I don't know Unsthable well enough to vouche for him, but he has a good idea, if you wont sell to him, how about a coalition of players that would like to keep the game running? |
SuperSoldierRCP | Saturday, October 21, 2023 - 06:04 pm I think what the GM needs right now is just player support and a strong direction of the future. In my real life, I am Business/Economic consultant, we often take a page out of the militaries playbook and often say "Amateur's talk strategy, Professionals talk logistics". For so long, the player based (Myself included) have wanted strategy or other features added without a logistical framework leading to many unpopular changes at the time. Now they are loved features of the game, but it seems we as players and the GM attempting to placate us throw stuff out without true testing or long term vision. I would be HAPPY to offer my services in exchange for a lifetime membership to SC ------------------------------------------------ Some changes, I've made with other clients that maybe SC could benefit from: #1 --- Sim Country needs a strong a PR campaign, now a days you need to be posting on social media, which SC does not. That is low hanging fruit that can provide so much growth! #2 --- There should be a player testing planet, which is separate from all other world and anyone can join for free. "No GC, awards, direct trading, space travel". All updates or suggestions go thought a minimum 30-90 day testing. That way the GM can test features before they release leading to stability. #3 --- "Amateur's talk strategy, Professionals talk logistics". The GM and players love "Windfarms, Targon, etc"... But those are strategy assets not logistical assets. If the GM and players sent more time addressing. --- Common market/Federation updates and modernization --- Allowing empires to have more assets/military integration --- Creating more threats and reasons to react (more diverse disasters, ways to help, etc) --- New corps or adding new ways to build/grow in space(Look at what shuttles did to the game) By definition of creating those "logistical changes" the strategies around the players will grow and lead to better long term change. I'm not programmer or game coder and I wont pretend to know how to do any of that, but what I can do is offer guidance and a structured framework. I make a living on giving and provide companies the feedback they need to plan long-term with a detailed way to get there. I LOVE LOVE this game and would be happy to offer my services. I'm sure you could ask around and many other players would be happy to offer some of their skills if it meant helping the game we have come to know and love |
SuperSoldierRCP | Saturday, October 21, 2023 - 10:03 pm I hope the GM considers this as I know my company would LOVE to work with another gaming company and I would love to be able to help a game which has provided me SO much enjoyment over the last nearly 16 years! Half my life(as I am 33) has been playing SimCountry! |
JOEL | Monday, October 23, 2023 - 01:30 am Dear Simcountry Gamemaster, Andy, or whom it concerns I usually don't speak up unless something truly bothers me, and I feel compelled to address an issue that occurred recently. It appears that Unsthable's original post was deleted due to someone's hurt feelings. However, several players had already read the post and found nothing threatening enough to warrant its removal. While I understand that not all cultures and countries prioritize freedom of speech, it still seems unfair to delete the post and prevent others from reading it. Unsthable raised valid points for the game masters to evaluate and respond to. Unfortunately, it seems that this incident has further alienated another player, who has now decided to leave. It's worth noting that the departing player was respectful and spoke the truth in their forum post. Furthermore, there have been instances where players have cursed and attacked others on this forum, yet their posts remain untouched, and no action has been taken against them. I struggle to comprehend why you felt the need to remove Unsthable's post. I challenge you to identify a single threat within that post, as I have spoken to multiple players who would disagree with its removal. My main point is that it is crucial to listen to your players. Even if you disagree with their opinions or face criticism, it is essential to respond in a mature and professional manner. Thanks Joel |
Matthew IV | Monday, October 23, 2023 - 11:13 pm I will also echo support for said player and ask that the GM unban him from the Forums ASAP. I did not see a threat in said post, and agree with Joel that if there was one it should be laid out. I have reported actual threats of violence against a few players before with no action (or communication) from the GM. Not only that, even as an Admin for the Discord, there seems to be no real enforcement of any rules regarding player speech. Seeing a player getting Forum banned for a post like that is downright disheartening. What was the threat, and why was it so significant that this player got banned? |
RoronoaDroagon | Monday, November 6, 2023 - 09:19 pm I read it too and couldn't agree more with what was said and i could not see anything in that post to warren't a ban or removal of the post. |
