Good Morning. I wanted to start a discussion on country index.

Mainly the ones we have control over so education, transportation and health.

Currently I have countries ranging from 130 to 150 and u can't say it makes much impact, beside being more expensive. I was trying to push for 200 but now I start to think it might not be worth it?

What is your target for these 3 index and why?

Thanks

Education and health do have an impact, though the changes between 130-150 won't be huge.

Higher education = more of your workers can be educated. Based off your education priorities, this *roughly* means more of your low level workers can be trained into other professions. With recent game updates, a higher education index will make it so you have very few low level workers, and many professionals - so it can lead you to making some worker profession changes.

Higher health has the main impact of allowing more of your citizens to live longer - and will extend their lifespans. In real life, this is good. In simcountry, this likely means more social security payments at some point, and a lower percentage of your population itself in the workforce.

Transportation has less impact from what I've found.

Targets for me vary, but unless I'm chasing game levels, transportation and health I keep below 130.

Last comment - look in the game documentation for "welfare index." Almost all country indices can impact that, and it's actually what I would care about most of the indices in most cases. Welfare index will drop if you have *any* particularly bad index, so it sort of makes sure you're running a balanced country. It increases the output of your corporations and in my view, is a valuable index to ensure you're paying attention to.

I think your on to something. I the extra costs don't match the benefits. Going up for levels, awards, and GC, is worth it. But bigger isn't always better.

It does depend allot on what you want to do, and learning how to use the tools. You know, make the tools do the work.

I am aware of the impact on the welfare index of a bad index. I'm just trying to find a good balance, cost vs benefits.

Most guides yell you to shoot for 200, and honestly I'll probably do it in a few countries, but so far 130 in all these 3 index seems like a sweet spot for the welfare index.

Also my social security is at 80, I run between 90 and 95 % employment, would it help the welfare index to raise it?

SS at 80 is good re: welfare.

130 indices seem fine if you're not worried about levelling. Education used to be better in many instances at higher numbers, but with recent updates, that may create an "overeducated" work force so to speak.

Most guides are outdated now IMO. The has changed quite a bit in the last few years. Great call to start this discussion.

A high Education index willl increase the number of graduated each game month and allows you to correct education problems more quickly.

A high health index reduces death rates in all age groups.

both indexes are essential for a good welfare index.

the supply index is essential too. it can damage the welfare index if too low.
same with social security.
employment too but low employment means above all, that your industry is not hiring enough people and your potantial for profits will not materialize.
