JOEL | Tuesday, June 20, 2023 - 02:45 pm Andy, The Union States of America and its empire on White Giant had a sudden and drastic increase in government costs over the past nine days. As someone who believed that government cost was dictated by population, I am surprised that some other planets have countries with higher populations but significantly lower government costs. I want to know if the government cost is calculated based on the overall empire population, and if so, I fail to see why individual countries should pay the price for large empires. Government costs have been alarming, with the cost rising from 30-40 billion monthly to an excess of 60 billion across the board in just nine days. I am worried about this increase's impact on my countries and their economies. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you could provide me with some clarity on this issue. Thanks Joel |
NJ Hatherly | Wednesday, June 21, 2023 - 04:25 am Same is going on here in KB. Thanks. |
Andy | Wednesday, June 21, 2023 - 02:40 pm Government cost can fluctuate. most of the cost is materials that are used in government functions. the cost of the materials depend on the market price of products. income of countries increased a lot recently. |
NJ Hatherly | Wednesday, June 21, 2023 - 04:31 pm I'm sorry Andy - That doesn't really help explain the cost increases. Can you please give additional details. Thank you. |
Andy | Wednesday, June 21, 2023 - 06:24 pm I now looked in details into where exactly is comes from. Government cost increased by 15% recently. This was too much to depend on increased cost of materials. the reason for the increase in the increase in number of countries. when you pass some threshholds, the cost goes up by 5 to 20%. it does not happen overhight but the number of government installations starts growing until it reaches the next level. 25% increase in the number of countries can double the government cost. with the numbers you have, government cost becomes very high. this is part f Simcountry from the start. it was done in this way to prevent huge empires. we had players who registered hundreds of countries.

NJ Hatherly | Wednesday, June 21, 2023 - 08:17 pm Thank you Andy!!!! I really appreciate the explanation. I am totally fine with the prevention of empires with hundreds of countries. It also makes prefect logical sense how the costs have increased and relate to the size of the empire. If you have time to revisit the costing structure of the General Gov. Costs at some point, I would really appreciate it. Currently a 26 state empire is more than enough for someone to handle. Thank you again, and I hope you have a great day. |
Andy | Thursday, June 22, 2023 - 02:25 pm Thanks for your response. costs increase gradually. when you pass 10 it goes up by a bit duribg a day or 2. then at 15 there is another bump etc. small empires small bumps. when you go much higher, the cost increases become quit ugly and they take days to get there in a straight line up. fluctuations from the straight line are caused by changes in the cost of the products used. |
JOEL | Thursday, June 22, 2023 - 03:20 pm Andy, Since the introduction of Tiny Atlas, there has been a noticeable surge in global prices as players strive to meet the demands of their Tiny Atlas countries. While I understand the reasoning behind this, it has inadvertently led to a significant rise in government costs, posing challenges for players like myself. At present, I am facing government costs of 100B plus, which continue to escalate. Despite my years of successful management of 31 countries, I find myself limited in my ability to mitigate this crisis. I believe it is important to address this issue promptly to restore a sense of balance in the game. Please direct your attention to evaluate the situation and consider potential adjustments to alleviate the strain players are currently facing. Our goal is to maintain stability within our nations and ensure an enjoyable gaming experience for all. I appreciate your understanding and support in addressing this matter. Please let me know if there are any updates or further actions that can be taken to resolve this ongoing challenge. Thanks Joel |
Andy | Thursday, June 22, 2023 - 03:58 pm As you can read above, the main cause for government cost increase is the number of countries in empires. Product pricing did not increase much. product pricing was already at the top of the range. how many countries do you have? |
JOEL | Thursday, June 22, 2023 - 07:05 pm I have 31 however Ive never had government cost so much |
Josias Jorvick | Thursday, June 22, 2023 - 10:37 pm Project 1, LU Wind Turbines 65,641.60M SC$ 130 My 1k farms/turbines at 120ish q, have a government cost of 65B, (but put out at least 7 times the value) Not sure that applies, but it is a factor for me And not a serious complaint, but i don't mind the cost, its fair. But i don't like how it works against the FI by being just a cost, with out a benefit. |
JOEL | Friday, June 23, 2023 - 01:48 am It's not fair. The entire point of the game to is to grow your empire. There are better options than having measures to penalize players with large empires, especially if they can manage them. No country should have to pay 100 billion, especially slave states 240 B; for my main, it's kind of crazy. Now I have to get rid of countries that I took the time to build up because of ridiculous government costs. |
Andy | Friday, June 23, 2023 - 10:13 am Josias, Please rewrite your comment. it is unclear to me what you mean and where the numbers come from. Joel, Government cost remains a fraction of the total profit capacity of an empire. it is however important to make all the countries in the empire perform and make a profit. if you have a large empire and many of your countries are not taken care of/not optimized, you will end up losing money. Large empires become more complex because you need to take care of many countries, their education priorities, and their corporations. |
JOEL | Friday, June 23, 2023 - 04:09 pm Andy, I understand what your saying to an extent. However, my empire profited until Government costs surged from 40B to 240B in a few weeks. My Government cost isn't a fraction of anything; it's taking up the entire budget, if not more. In my Empire on LU, one of my Government costs is 28B with 104 Population on White Giant; however, a country with a population of 105 is paying 75B in government costs, and that's one of the lowest. My main is paying 226B in government costs. Add that cost to any country in the game and tell me it doesn't hurt their economy. P.S. Amaile, the President of China on Wg, is having trouble logging on and is requesting that you respond to his messages. Thanks |
Mr Corleone | Friday, June 23, 2023 - 09:54 pm I have these issues with and had them for awhile. I don’t even have as many countries as Joel and I’m only on FB. The government cost eats up most of the budget. Luckily I have wind farms to minimize the cost but it should be looked into |
Lord Mndz | Friday, June 23, 2023 - 09:57 pm Country "star dust" in GR, 179M population, 8 countries in empire only and cost is 79B. This is quite a lot having in mind i am buying supplies at 120q. |
Hern | Saturday, June 24, 2023 - 01:39 am I saw this before a few months ago, I made a post in bug reports. I haven't added a country in a year, and even after Andy suggested, I went in and set all government products to a quality of 120. That improved profitability slightly, but I'm still ~80B less/month, barely breaking even on my main country. It hasn't resolved. |
Josias Jorvick | Saturday, June 24, 2023 - 02:35 am I guess the short version is, When i buy WFs, my government costs go up. When the price of Turbines goes up, so does my government costs. If WTs go from rock bottom price, to deep red (like on LU and WG recently,) the turbine monthly portion of government costs, will triple. |
Josias Jorvick | Saturday, June 24, 2023 - 02:51 am Project 1 on LU has 112B government cost, with 72M pop. Under "Spending" my Turbines cost 66.8B/GM (atm). With out my Farms, I'd be in the mid 40B gov cost. If i still had my WFs, and the market price was rock bottom, my WT monthly cost would be a third of what it is, dropping my government costs into the 70s. On WG, the price for WT just reached max, and the the staggering increase in my government costs, leveled out, when the market price for Turbines maxed out. This is what i was talking about in another thread, their should be a way to shut down WFs, is you'd rather compete for a high FI rank. |
JOEL | Saturday, June 24, 2023 - 04:11 am I'm glad I'm not the only one concerned with the rising prices. Did anyone find a solution? Am I misunderstanding something, or is there a correlation between Wind farms, Wind Turbines, and Government costs? If that's the case, I would've left all that alone had I known. |
JOEL | Saturday, June 24, 2023 - 04:21 am Hi Andy, Our ability to sell most products in our inventory has disappeared. I do hope that this is temporary. It looks like we can only sell some products on the market from our buy and sell page. |
Andy | Saturday, June 24, 2023 - 04:15 pm I do not think that there was any change recently that could have coused an increase. the fact that severl players are saying so is a reason for us to recheck. I will do so in the coming days. in general, the main factor is the number of countries. |
Andy | Saturday, June 24, 2023 - 04:17 pm Login problems, I loggen in into the account of Amalie. I also answered his mails. I saw two mail addresses. one of them was used in the game. he complained about the other one. I asked for some more info and will help. However, again, I logged in into his account. |
JOEL | Saturday, June 24, 2023 - 09:07 pm Hey Andy I went to my enterprise to search Amalie's account Beijing and received an error message saying Sorry this account is not available. |
Andy | Sunday, June 25, 2023 - 08:46 am We had some confusion about Amalie, resulting from something he has done that obscured the problem. I do not want to get into the details, it is his private info. we will resolve the problem with the account. We are mailing back and forth. All being well, it will be resolved by the end of the day tomorrow. |
JOEL | Friday, June 30, 2023 - 01:36 am Hi Andy, I dont know if you had a chance to look at Government cost. I canceled 3 countries and assumed that government cost would be significantly lowered. However Im my main country Government cost continued to rise. |
Andy | Saturday, July 1, 2023 - 04:18 pm Government costs lag behind the events that cause them and adjust slowly to the new levels. The new levels do not increase by country but start moving up when you cross some number of countries. the next level might be 5 countries more. |
