Hello - Can someone please provide some additional information as to how and why Rebellions happen in countries. Is there a number of states that once can own before triggering Rebellions? Any information would be very helpful. Thanks.

If you own more than 7 countries than the risk of rebellions starts to increase. The more countries you won the greater the risk of rebellion. I know there was some documentation on this subject somewhere on Simcountry. I will try and find it and let you know.

Thanks Michael - I appreciate it. I was hoping to expand my empire, but once I hit a certain threshold, all hell breaks loose and a civil war starts. Any help understanding would be appreciated.

*Additional Note* I ran through the game documentation.

The formula is: 50 * (Number of States) / (Welfare Index).

That means if I owned 13 States and they all had welfare indexes of 130.0; then the chance of a rebellion occurring in any state at 5% in any given game month.

At what point do rebellions actually get triggered? Is it 5%? Is it 7%? Is it 10%? Does anyone know?

Andy - could you please provide some input? Thank you!

This is true.

what it means is that if you increase your welfare index, the chance of a rebellion is reduced.
the idea of course is, that if you make sure your citizens are happy, they will not rebel.

On the other hand, if you keep many countries occupied, you will have more rebellions.

Each month, the chance for a rebellion is computed and a random function is used to decide on a rebellion, based on the chance as computed.
if the probability is 5%, the random function will produce a hit only in 5% of the calls.

I want to say this is why I used to stop at 10 countries. I believe that was the maximum number you may control to have 0 chance of rebellions. I think that if I raided an 11th, and held it a month, I would sometimes get a rebellion, but in no other circumstances.

That makes a lot of sense Aries. Thanks for your help!
